This confused me a little bit, since he was in the middle of getting his biggest push of his career.

[UPDATE]

Lance Cade is already taking independent bookings after being released from WWE.

[UPDATE 2]

Jim Ross on Lance Cade's release: As many of you know, Lance Cade was abruptly released from his contract this week much to the surprise of many of us. I have always thought that Cade had a wealth of physical potential and he was always a polite young man in my dealings with him. Like many fans, I too did my share of arm chair quarterbacking as to why Cade was not featured in a more prominent role on WWE TV programming. However it seemed that in the past several weeks those issues were being addressed even to the point of Cade defeating HBK on a recent Monday Night Raw. The story that I have read on many internet sites about the reason for Cade's sudden dismissal isn't accurate. Many punhdits speculate that Cade was dismissed because of a bad performance in a recent TV bout against DX on Raw which is absolutely untrue. Lance's dismissal had zero to do with his in ring performances or his lack of ability. Lance Cade was dismissed from the WWE because, like many humans, he made a major league mistake while utilizing bad judgment that cost him his job. This included Lance having a seizure on an airplane and having to have emergency medial care. Luckily, Lilian Garcia was on the same flight and was instrumental in helping Lance get taken to a hospital where a battery of tests were run that luckily determined that there was nothing seriously wrong with the young man such as a brain tumor, etc. Everyone makes mistakes, Lord knows I have made plenty in my career, but in this day and time some mistakes just simply can't be condoned. To some fans, Lance Cade will likely still be perceived as the victim in this matter and his punishment too harsh. Under the circumstances of the situation, I don't know what other decision the WWE could have made. I'm just relieved that it wasn't me in my former role that would have had to address this matter. I really like this kid and hope that he continues to follow his dreams. Second chances are not foreign in the wrestling business so perhaps that could be in Lance's future but that's just a personal observation. Lance Cade is a talented young man whose best days should be ahead of him and I wish him nothing but success. Lance has been knocked down and now it is up to him to get off the canvas and get back in the game. I'm damn sure pulling for him. Let's hope Lance's peers are paying attention to this situation.

Check out the full entry here.

[UPDATE 3]

Unfortunally yes he looks like he's released. A shame now that all of Cade-Murdoch is gone and Jericho doesn't have a prodige anymore.

... hmm, that one comes out of left field. Odd.

I can't bring myself to weep too hard for Cade. Of HBK's students, he has easily shown me the least (Biohazard showed me more promise. Who's Biohazard? Yeah, exactly), yet he had been with the WWE for how many years and how many memorable matches has he had? He got more shots than most and did not show out.

And lets not forget this, they actually changed his name from Lance Cade to Garrison Cade because they didn't want to confuse him with Lance Storm. Think about that for a second. How bland are you when WWE is afraid you cannot distinguish yourself from Lance Storm?

Then they changed his name back and NO ONE NOTICED!

Certainly surprising. You figured they would have demoted him to jobber duty, before letting him go.

I am sure it probably had to be something. Usually, WWE does not drop someone, while they are in the middle of major program.

I'm a Lance Storn fan, but yeah... pretty bland. Bland or not, I'll still take Lance Storm vs Jerry Lynn over most of anything I've seen for a long time.

Eh, I can never get this right, was Quiet Storm the tag team. Anywho, Devine Storm is a "wrestler" (possibly a tag team) from early ROH. I use quotes around wrestler because all he (they) did were spotfest scrambles, usually with the SAT. In general, I'm not one criticize spotfests, but understand when I say this I mean they get hit with moves that would kill a normal human being, 2 seconds later they are pulling off a sloppy ass twisting corkscrew press... that misses. Remove them from this type of match and they are completely lost.

I believe he (they) are a part of the ROH One Year Aniversary Scramble which I allude to every now and again... because it still hasn't ended.

Only if Jerry Lynn wins. I am sick and tired of seeing the guy play the role of lovable jobber. And yes, that includes his feud with RVD.

That reminds me, The_Dude...did you hear that it's Jerry Lynn vs. Tyler Black in Edison on the 25th? I'm psyched.

I wonder what he did? It's probably either he did a line of coke in front of Vince or threw a flower pot at his wife to get released that quickly.

My guess would be that there was a direct cause to that seizure that wasn't natural.

Abused medications? Oh well, Jericho will have to find another, perhaps Paul London.

Puke! All I know is that I hope they don't show up in TNA to win the tag titles from Beer Money. Cade and Murdoch are probably my least favorite tag team of all time and that includes such teams as the Bashams and Deuce & Domino.
