Poll: Would This Offend You On PPV? (Warning: Graphic Images Inside)

Let's say you are watching a PPV, whether it's WWE, TNA, ROH, or any other promotion that may or has a PPV show. Would an angle where a group of guys hung a wrestler that was profusely bleeding from his head and then the leader of that group cut a promo underneath the man that is hanging and let the blood drip all over him and let it drip into his mouth offend you?

Yes, as a matter of fact it does offend me. ROH has no class and will never catch TNA. This is what I call crossing the line.

I personally think that it is blind love for ROH which is backing up the support for this angle.

If TNA did it, then they'd be accused of going down the sh!!ter, and the Russo hatred would initiate.

If it were WWE, they'd accuse Stephanie and Vince of not giving what the people want.

To me it all would depend on if the person cutting the promo had any talent in the ring at all. That's the first thing I would consider when looking at an angle like this. Is this helping to grow the character of the main persons involved? If so, than no I have no problem with this.

However, if this is just being done to hide the fact that the people in the ring are really not talented - then I think it's deplorable. Shock angles can't cover up the fact that you suck, if you do in fact suck.......

Jimmy Jacobs is a really good wrestler. he may not be the best or the most technically sound wrestler, but he puts on good matches and actually has one MOTYC under his belt this year already (Jimmy Jacobs vs. BJ Whitmer Cage Match from Supercard of Honor 2, **** 1/2 stars). Jimmy Jacobs has gone above and beyond the call of duty with his character over the last year or so. the "emo" Jacobs going hardcore to prove his love for Lacey and kill Whitmer and Colt Cabana was highlighted with fantastic promos, lots of great segments, and lots of good to great matches. now with the Project 161 angle for the past two months turning into Age of the Fall is just fantastic. the Project 161 ARG thing might have been a little stupid, but this angle was great live and it seems it'll only get better.

some guys said they saw Jay Briscoe put a blood capsule in his mouth before being hung so that is most of the blood. stil tho, Jay was bleeding a lot during the whole match.

and if you want to see, it'll be on ROH's 3rd PPV in November.

right now the kayfabe sstory is that ROH won't show it because it's "controversial and unlike what ROH wants to portray" but i think they'll air it anyways after Jacobs and the Age of the Fall do something leading up to it.

as for the storyline, for the past 2-3 months, there have been graffiti in the bathrooms at ROH shows saying "ABUSED SOCIETY" and then some guys in all black ad ski masks handed out fliers that said "abusedsociety.com" and it turned into an ARG (alternate reality game) where Projec 161 would update their different sites and "attack" the ROH Forums and they'd make appearances at ROH shows an like yellstuff. there was lots of speculation on who it could be and people thought it was Jacobs because there was a picture of a bleeding statue of Liberty that looked like a particular photo of Jacobs.

then they started targetting The Briscoes and Gabe Sapolsky (the booker) and threatening them and posting private photos online.

people were certain the angle would become clearer on the 3rd PPV taping since it was the 161st ROH show, hence Project 161.

then on Saturday, after the Ladder War between The Briscoes and El Generico and Kevin Steen, about 30-40 people dressed in all black and wearing black bandanas over their face or ski masks rushed the barricade and then Jacobs and Tyler Black ran into the ring and as they had a staredown with the Briscoes, Necro Butcher attacked them from behind with barbwire.

here's an excerpt i wrote in my live report of the show:

After the match, there was screaming coming from somewhere and then a bunch of people in black outfits, ski masks, and black bandanas all rushed the barricade and out came Jimmy Jacobs and Tyler Black. they went into the ring and stared down the Briscoes until NECRO BUTCHER came from behind them and hit them both with some barbwire wrapped around his wrist. Tyler and Necro held Mark down in the corner as Jimmy hogtied Jay's legs to the belt hanging apparatus and he had him hoisted up. as Jay was going up, blood was just GUSHING from his forehead and Jimmy walked underneath and was showered with blood. he cut an amazing promo about how he's been fighting for Lacey for the past year and when she finally said "i love you" that he didn't feel a thing! he said nothing mattered and The Age of the Fall was here because they were being held back because of who they were, how they acted, and how they looked. they said Necro Butcher was never given a chance in ROH because he looks like an animal and doesn't fit the typical "look" of an ROH wrestler. he said Tyler Black had good looks, but was deep down a depressed and angry person and was never given any dues. he said they wanted to make an example of the Briscoes because ever sincen they were 17, they were groomed and primmed to be the stars of ROH and the tag titles represented everything wrong with ROH. they were here to destroy what ROH means. Jimmy, now literally covered with blood, opened his mouth and let Jay's blood drip into his mouth. he said the "Project" was over, and the Age of the Fall has started. FANTASTIC ANGLE. amazing way to end the pay per view. seeing a bloody Jay hang upside down for 5 minutes as Jimmy cut an amazing promo with blood POURING onto his hair, his white jacket, and his face was an amazing image. you guys will not believe it when you see it and i guarantee none of you will say "Project 161" sucks after seeing it.

September 18th: Last Saturday in Chicago featured perhaps the bloodiest and most grotesque incident in wrestling history. Yes, we will go as far as to say wrestling history. A new faction emerged in ROH and quickly targeted ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe. The new faction is known as The Age Of The Fall and consists of Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black, Necro Butcher & Lacey. The attack, which was taped for ROH's 3rd PPV, went way over the line and the footage will be pulled from ROH's 3rd PPV. This is not the kind of product that ROH wants to put on television. Once this was reported on the ROHwrestling.com message board, fans across the internet demanded to see the footage. Since this is a historical incident that will shape the future of ROH, it has been decided to include The Age Of The Fall bloodbath debut in the next ROH Video Wire. I was there man. It was great. I only got pics. I didn't even think of taking a vid with my phone. he lost a lot of blood.

BTW... the bleeding was real. Necro Butcher opened Jay Brisco up with a hand full of barded wire. Then they tied him to the pully that held the belts for the ladder match. I was pretty grusome stuff I got to tell ya. But entertaining. A few kids were crying next to me too. I also saw some frightened parents take their kids out of the building while the segement was still going on.

If you want to know, I was sitting in section B, row 7, seat 2. Practicaly in front and seeing the whole thing. (butcher also came to the ring from behind me and grazed me with the barbed wire by accident.) I hope that gets on TV.

Yes I realise that and totally understand where you're coming from but I still stand by what I said because the scenario displayed in the photos presented in the first post are beyond 'graphic' let alone in the same channel as what should be witnessed in a wrestling event. Yeah ROH has had some bloodfests and gruesome matches to its name but hosting a promo beneath a guy suspended (a nice term instead of being hung) in the air while losing blood is such a r-tarded thing that CZW would typically do.

ROH ( and the fans ) worked hard for that image. For it to be like an American version of Puro.

I do think ROH is coming out of that though. I prefer angles over " real professional wrestling". " Real professional wrestling" is more like an athletic contest, and if I wanted that I'd watch UFC. Now stuff like Danielson v Nigel from like, a year ago where Nigel got busted open, that's real professional wrestling. That's what I want to see in ROH.

And not becuase of the blood ( well kind of).It's becuase of the comeback, the intensenes, and the ending. THe blood did help the match, it got Nigel a bunch of support. Basically, I want more matches like that than random japanese guy vs random ROH guy.
