This match lasted, literally, 8 years.  It might not even be over, yet.  Maff might still be dropping Special K kids on their heads in the Elks Lodge.

the promoters at Broxbourne screwed over ROH so they had to shuffle plans and they decided on Liverpool.

I don't see why this should be Aires and Sydal's last match, especially since I think Sydal will score the win (evening them to 1-1).  I wasn't excessively high on their first match at Arena Warfare (good, but not great) but think they'll only improve on that.

Ditto on Strong-Sydal.  They match up so well on paper.

Gabe recently has an article in Fighting Spirit:

I never wanted to go overseas in my life, and nor did I think there would ever be a reason for me to leave the United States. Then, the company I am fortunate to book for, Ring of Honor, gained a following in the United Kingdom. We always say that if enough fans demand it, we will go anywhere in the world. Well, the British fans demanded it and, last August, we prepared for 2 events in the UK. I recorded my thoughts from the night before we made the trip until I arrived back home afterwards, so here is my journal of ROH’s first tour of the UK….

‘It’s August 10th and the months of nervous anticipation are finally over. As 5 a.m. hits on Thursday morning I drift off to sleep. Maybe I can get a few hours before I have to meet everyone at the office and head to Newark for my first ever trip out of the United States. Suddenly the wall of sleep is broken as the sound of the TV cracks through and, in the background of my haze, I hear about a terrorist plot in the UK.

I’ve never been more awake. Will our flights even take off? Will there be no-shows on these important cards? No Ipod for seven hours? Ugh. I was dreading this flight before and now there is no telling what to expect. Panic.

My drive to the office takes me past the Murphy Rec Center, I remark to the driver: ‘it all started there and now we are going international.’ We finally get to the airport with no idea what to expect. Long line for security, flight is delayed, but that’s okay – it gives us time for a beer. We take off and land with no problems except for a woman that freaked everyone out by screaming from night terrors over the Atlantic Ocean. Customs is a breeze and, when we finally see The Briscoes emerge from baggage claim, we know all the boys have made it in. There won’t be any no-shows. Nothing needs to be rebooked. Relief.

FISH AND CHIPS
Some of the guys head to their Friday night show. We took a driving tour of London and then started on the five-hour drive to Liverpool. Eating fish and chips, seeing Parliament, crossing the London Bridge – I can’t believe I’m here, I can’t believe the little indy promotion is going to present shows in England. We have to knock one out of the park – I want these to be the greatest shows the UK has ever seen.

We take too long in London and only make it to Birmingham. No big deal, we’ll finish the drive tomorrow. I get to stay in the same city that Black Sabbath is from – this is cool. I would love a good meal, though. Everything at McDonald’s is smaller and the mayo tastes funny. I can’t sleep and alone in the hotel is the only time depression sneaks up on you. I miss my wife.

A couple of hours sleep and we wake up early to finish the drive to Liverpool. The scenery is great. I listen to Black Sabbath and watch it go by. So far this is an incredible trip. I see a sign for a football club and turn to one of our office staff and say, ‘Hey that’s where they play soccer.’ The driver almost takes my head off and says that football isn’t played with a pigskin. This is great.

The Liverpool building is beautiful. It’s old, it has character, the fans will be right on top of the action. They ask me to do a Q&A. I’ve never done one before, but it goes well except for one loudmouth. ROH president Cary Silkin then comes up to me and says we have to take a cab ride and see some of Liverpool. My anxiety is high for the show, but he insists and I want to ride in one of those English-style cabs. He takes me to The Cavern Club. I don’t know what it is until I walk downstairs and immediately recognise it from a TV show a few weeks ago. Holy crap, this is great.

UNIFIED
Nigel has some crazy ideas for this main event against Bryan Danielson. He’s making this the biggest match of his career. Of course, Bryan is right there with him. Aries showed up tired and angry. ‘I’ll take out my aggression in the ring,’ he says. I know with the one-two punch of the Tag Title and Unification matches that the rest of the show can be crap and it’ll still be great, but the rest of the show delivers, too. What a night. Nigel splits his head open on the ring post. He made the sacrifice. He’s now a bona fide main eventer in his home country.

I go to the last row on the top balcony and watch the final two matches. I feel like I’m back in The Boston Garden with my friends watching The Fantastics versus The Midnight Express as The Briscoes versus Aries & Strong tears down the house. I’ve never seen ROH from this kind of seat at this angle. It is something I’ll never forget.

Aries lands on his ribs. He comes to the locker room in pain. He is one tough guy, tougher than most know. I have to leave his locker room. I return a few minutes later and find out he went to the hospital. I know he has to be really injured and in a lot of pain to go to the hospital.

Show is over. It is a success. I couldn’t be happier or more momentarily relaxed. We don’t stay long, but the after party is a blast, everyone is having a good time. The only jerk at the Q&A is now my friend. Time to get 11 people in to a van and drive four hours to Broxbourne. This trip all feels like one long day with a couple of naps. We get to the Marriot. This is the most comfortable bed of my life. After the dump Travelodge from the night before this is the most luxurious hotel I’ve ever been in. I can’t sleep again – I’m hungry, I’m worried about Aries. I’m wondering if I have to rebook what is now tonight’s show.

The breakfast buffet starts at 7 a.m. I’m up and still haven’t gotten a good meal. It is hard to screw up breakfast. The Marriot does. Who serves Lox with cinnamon raisin bagels? Scrambled eggs are like water. I miss my wife as I eat alone. I go back to my room and book out two shows, one with Aries and one without. Both have holes in them. I’ll work that out when I get to the building. 9.30 a.m. and my mind finally stops working and settles down so I can drift off for three hours sleep.

ANARCHY IN THE UK
A 20 minute cab ride and I’m at the Broxbourne building. Another killer building; small and intimate with the fans right on top of the action and everyone has a clear view of the ring. It doesn’t get any better than that. About 15 or so bunny rabbits run around the pond area in the back. What an escape. For about five minutes this is like a vacation.

Aries shows up. he is in pain. He says he can wrestle. I ask him how he can do anything with injured ribs. He says his offence will be very limited. I can tell he really can’t wrestle, he just won’t admit it. Aries says he’ll suck it up. I think about it. do we give the fans a match where Aries won’t be able to deliver what they expect and, on top of it, he can further injure his ribs? He waits for me to make the call. I don’t want any further injury. I don’t want to put a match out there that won’t give the fans what they expect. Aries is pulled. So 90 minutes to bell time and a little fine tuning later and we have a show that is worthy of this all important trip.

Aries opens the show and gives a promo saying he can’t wrestle and we set up two Danielson title defences. When Aries comes through the curtain I thank him and he hurries off. The emotion in the ring is real. He is overwhelmed by the fan response. He would give anything to wrestle for the Broxbourne fans.

Danielson versus SUWA is underway. This is a match that I wanted to see. Oh crap, I see blood coming from the side of Danielson’s head. How bad is it? he comes back after the match and it is obvious the cut needs stitches. The medic looks at it. he says ‘I advise you to go to the hospital right now.’ Bryan asks him if he can wrestle the second match. The medic tells him to get to the hospital now and get stitches. Bryan replies, ‘I have one more match to wrestle,’ and walks away. Bryan and Roddy Strong tear down the house. The cut is now wider and might need Staples. Bryan goes to the hospital and that is the last I see or hear from him as he continues the tour and I get set to return home.

…AAAAAAND BREATHE

The office staff and Alex Shane, who made the whole weekend possible, sit alone in the Marriot lobby and eat some sandwiches and drink a couple of beers while we watch ROH on The Wrestling Channel. Everyone is happy, everyone is content and most importantly everyone is satisfied with the weekend. We know we are living in a special moment. From The Murphy Rec Center to making our mark in the UK… We are worldwide. We all have that feeling of accomplishment.

I fall asleep for two hours before we head to the airport. Police walk around with guns in hand. We aren’t allowed in the terminal for four and a half hours. We sit on the sidewalk in the rain. It isn’t warm out, either. We are starved. They bring us tomato, cheese and relish sandwiches. Who puts relish on a sandwich like that? The four hours actually fly by. We are on a natural high from the weekend – we don’t care about being outside. After a long line we rush to our flight. They don’t believe it is Nana on his passport. I don’t think he’s going to make it. but all ends up well, and the flight takes off and I fall asleep as I think about my wife.

I wake up and eat my meal. The airline meals are actually good, to my surprise. I immediately fall asleep again and wake up six hours later when we land in Newark. We are all still in a great mood as we go through customs. I call my wife and tell her I’ll be home in an hour. She says she’ll have steak, rice and peas ready. We get to my home. My wife opens the door and greets me with a huge hug. I eat and sleep for 12 hours. I wake up and I never felt better.’

Going back over my thoughts from last year, I can’t wait for 3 and 4 March when we come back and do it all again, with a two-night ROH stand in Liverpool.

Here's the new ROH Video Wire To see highlights from Braintree, including Daizee Haze taking a beating (and the medical expertise of Cabana and Whitmer), hype for Homicide vs Jimmy Rave, as well as a truly shocking announcement for ROH fans.
Samoa Joe is on his way out of Ring of Honor.  His last match will be on the second Liverpool event and the finale of the Fifth Year Festival against an unnamed opponent.  Its difficult to come up with anything to say.  I am, for once, literally, speechless
I am completely pissed off that TNA would force him to do this. I am even more mad at Joe that he would let them. I would think that he would leave TNA to stay in ROH.

Im not surprised he chose TNA over ROH. He has to support himself, and TNA is growing and growing as time moves on, he can make loads of money. He is a star in TNA, and there's almost no question that he will be NWA champ soon enough.

He is still young but all the hard working long matches in ROH can definetly shorten his career. Honestly, I think TNA forced him to because they have huge pans for him. Nevertheless, Im really sad to see him go. From his ROH World Title run, the great matches throughout that run, fued with Mick Foley, trilogy with Punk, and his match with Kobashi, he is definetly a legend in ROH. I just hope I get tickets to the 2/24 Chicago show to see him one more time.

i hope his last match in Liverpool is against the only person that seems fitting to face Joe...Low Ki.

My feelings on this are kinda like having an old pet that you know is going to die soon, but no matter how much you try to prepare yourself it still hits you really hard.  I knew this would happen eventually, but its still difficult to accept as the reality of the situation.

Without Samoa Joe I don't think there is anyway ROH survives.  As important as guys like CM Punk and Homicide and others have been through the years, Samoa Joe was the champion and the face of ROH when it mattered most.  In many ways, he defined ROH.

However, I hold no ill will towards Samoa Joe or TNA.  They are both doing what they think is best for them, as CM Punk did when he signed with the E.  TNA has invested alot in Joe and they are protecting that investment, while Joe has been fighting through several injuries that I'm sure his high impact ROH matches haven't been helping.  He'll definately be an NWA Champion before this year is through and main eventing in TNA, while he is barely more than a special attraction in ROH and is expected to give as much, if not more in that ROH ring.  His farewell tour covers the bulk of the matches he needs to have and I'm sure Joe is going to give is something special on the way out.

i hope his last match in Liverpool is against the only person that seems fitting to face Joe...Low Ki.sephy37
I suppose, then, that I really am the only one that doesn't want this to be Joe's final match even if it were possible (its hard to think Ki's gone for good, what with him being mentioned 3 times a show during the "Road of Homicide").  Yeah, it'd be an awesome match and all poetic and stuff to go out the way he came in, but no one benefits from it.  Joe's on his was out (and Ki doesn't job and there is no way it should go the screwjob route) and Ki is already made in ROH and would only be there on borrowed time, if not on TNA's clock, he'd just be a time bomb until he and Gabe have another explosion that results in him taking his ball and walking.

Matches I'd rather see than Joe-Ki II for Joe's final match:

KENTA (but seemingly impossible)
BJ Whitmer (The guy that could benefit the most from this match and position.  They've had good matches and under these circumstances I could see them having a great one)
Roderick Strong (The go-to last match guy.  They had a very good match at GBH V, but it left you screaming for them to go at it again.  Probably the biggest name not on the Farewell tour that hasn't had his definitive match with Joe)

What about Kobashi? Is he healed enough to have match with Joe? I would love for that to be his last match.

I'd love to see Joe vs. Strong in his last match. The night before that he should face Delirious.

And for me, well, I'm not as high on their first match as... well, everyone.  It also does nothing for ROH long-term, cause Kobashi ain't gonna be even a part-timer.

Well, I'd imagine everyone wants Joe's last match to go longer than 30 seconds :P

In all seriousness, Joe-Sydal is definately a match that should have happened, but beyond you, I don't think there's enough demand for it to be his last match.

i don't want it to be his last match either. i was just saying, it's like what happened with the backlash of Sydal being KENTA's last opponent of the year.

i personally hope it's Albright, Hero or Whitmer.

Hero'd probably be my 4th name on the list.  Every exchange I've seen between the 2 has been electric and I can imagine the crowd would be amazing (the UK was all over Hero the first time and for Joe's last match... it'd be a spectacle).

if Morishima beats Cide, then Joe could face him again and win and give the title back like Taz did in ECW when Awesome left for WCW.

but that sounds dumb really. two Joe/Morishima matches? and he's not even booked for the UK shows.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER!!!

ROH World Tag Team Champions Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal are about to be put to the test. They have signed to take on three of the most exciting, dynamic and innovative duos in the entire wrestling business during the Fifth Year Festival. The pressure will be on as all these matches could be for the ROH World Tag Team Titles.

A ROH World Tag Team Title Match can main event any ROH show. The reputation of the belts was made by Austin Aries & Roderick Strong in 2006. Now the fans are looking to Daniels & Sydal to uphold and increase the prestige. So far there have been critics since Daniels & Sydal have only defended the titles once since winning them at "Dethroned" on 11/25/06 from Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli. However, Daniels & Sydal proved they were credible champions in their lone defense on 12/22/06 at "International Challenge" against the Dragon Gate duo of CIMA & Shingo. If Daniels & Sydal can make it past the Fifth Year Festival with the belts, no one can criticize them. Here is their list of opponents including a new match that was just signed for 2/24 in Chicago.

-2/16, Manhattan, NY, Daniels & Sydal vs. Austin Aries & Roderick Strong- It doesn't get any bigger than this ROH World Tag Team Title Match. Aries & Strong made the belts into World Titles, they put on great match after great match against the top teams in the business en route to a nine month reign. These two teams met before and stole the show at "Gut Check" last August. The first meeting saw Aries & Strong defend the titles. Now the tables are turned. Daniels & Sydal must defeat Aries & Strong to prove themselves as champions. Aries & Strong want to show why they can be called the greatest team in ROH history. This is what the ROH World Tag Team Titles are all about.

-2/17, Philadelphia, PA, Daniels & Sydal vs. Jack Evans & Shingo- If Daniels & Sydal make it past NYC the belts will be on the line here. Dragon Gate officials wanted a rematch after the incredible 12/22 bout. Daniels & Sydal are granting it to the duo of Evans & Shingo. This is one of the most exciting matches possible with four tremendous athletes and two incredible high-flyers. Jack Evans has stated he wants gold. Shingo needs to build his reputation in Japan by winning a ROH title. If Daniels & Sydal make it past two tough defenses in one weekend they will solidify their credibility.

-2/24, Chicago, IL, Daniels & Sydal vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe- It will be time for Daniels & Sydal to "man up" in Chicago when ROH debuts at the Windy City Fieldhouse. ROH is traveling to the other side of Chicago for this huge debut. If Daniels & Sydal make it to Chicago with the belts they will be on the line here. The Briscoes are more determined than ever to win the titles. This will be epic.

Even if there is a title change all these matches will take place as scheduled, they will just be non-title. Daniels & Sydal will need all the help Allison Danger can offer to make it past these duos. If Daniels & Sydal pass these tests they can be considered the elite team in the entire wrestling world.

2/24 is gonna be THE show of the 5th Year Festival.

Windy City Deathmatch + Joe/Cide vs. Morishima/Nigel + Briscoes vs. Sydal/Daniels + Joe's farewell in the States + giving Joe the autographed sign = Must Buy

for anyone that doesn't know, a guy is gonna bring a giant sign saying something like "thanks for 5 years of memories" and we're all gonna sign it and give it to Joe

Sydal/Daniels + Joe's farewell in the States + giving Joe the autographed sign = Must Buy

for anyone that doesn't know, a guy is gonna bring a giant sign saying something like "thanks for 5 years of memories" and we're all gonna sign it and give it to Joe

sephy37
I am definetly getting tickets now. I missed out on Chicago Spectacular but I'll be damned if I miss this.

UK Lineups Announced

Friday, February 02, 2007
The return tour for America’s fast growing professional wrestling company Ring of Honor, hits England on Saturday March 3rd and Sunday March 4th 2007. The two events will take place at the prestigious home of the company’s first ever European show, The Liverpool Olympia. In an effort to top the amazing response the company’s first trip to these shores received back in August 2006, match makers have pulled out all the stops to give fans on this side of the Atlantic the most action packed two day line up possible.

The two events, which are being sponsored by April’s massive 16 company tournament “The King of Europe Cup”, are certain to be the one of the biggest weekends in ROH history much like their debut tour on these shores last summer proved to be. from Meltzer

"Samoa Joe will be finishing up with the promotion on 3/4 in Liverpool England. TNA made the call several weeks ago, and ROH was going to make it public later this week. There was talk of keeping it quiet until the end, but the idea was to use the 5th anniversary tour as the Joe farewell tour. It is possible they may be able to use Joe for an occasional date here and there in the future. TNA is going to make Joe the NWA champion fairly soon and didn't want him doing programs in ROH or angles they weren't in control of, and possibly didn't want people to consider him an ROH wrestler any more. Losing Joe is a real blow, particularly with Bryan Danielson not being back until May. TNA is still going to allow ROH to use Christopher Daniels, Homicide and Austin Aries, although reliance on all three would understandably be lessened as time goes by"

I really don't think Aries would leave ROH unless TNA offered him a lot of money.

Homicide Ready For Homecoming As Champ
Tuesday, February 06, 2007

No one in attendance at the Manhattan Center for "Final Battle 2006" on 12/23/06 will forget the party when Homicide finally won the ROH World Title. The celebration will continue when ROH returns to Manhattan on 2/16 to kick off the Fifth Year Festival. It will be a very special night for Brooklyn's own Homicide. For the first time, Homicide will walk into his hometown as the champ.

Homicide will put the ROH World Title on the line against a red hot Jimmy Rave. The challenger has been dominant lately. Rave's new heel hook submission has made tough guys like ROH World Tag Team Champion Christopher Daniels, Nigel McGuinness and BJ Whitmer tap out. These are competitors who never tap out, yet Rave's heel hook has made them all tap. Rave even caused Samoa Joe considerable pain by putting him in the heel hook in a post match attack in Boston. Rave's newfound aggressiveness and confidence could end the party for Homicide and the New York City fans.

"Winning the belt for me in NYC isn't enough," Homicide said. "I want to keep the party going when I bring the belt back to the Manhattan Center. Jimmy Rave, when is the last time you seen me tap? Never, that's because I don't tap. I don't quit especially with this precious metal on the line."

"Those New York fans always disrespect me," Rave said. "So nothing is going to give me more pleasure than when I tap out their hometown boy, their champ and I take the belt. The heel hook has made the toughest men in ROH tap out. You can't escape it Homicide. I'll snap your ankle right in front of your friends and family and fans and take your belt."

The man who walks out of Manhattan with the title will be tested with the biggest competitor to ever step foot in a ROH ring the next night in Philadelphia. The Fifth Year Festival will continue on February 17th in Philly when NOAH's Takeshi Morishima challenges for the title. The winner of that match will then defend against BJ Whitmer on February 23rd in Dayton.

"Jimmy Rave don't need to worry about Morishima," Homicide said. "I started with this company on the very first show. Now five years later I'm the champion of the world. That means so much to me. I'm beating Rave and partying in NYC, I'm squashing the big man in Philly, I'm beating that big headed BJ Whitmer in Dayton and then I take this belt to the UK, to Liverpool, and me and my man Julius Smokes are going to show England how we take care of business. The party is just beginning."

Ring Of Honor and Dragon Gate are thrilled to announce that seven Dragon Gate stars have been signed to compete on ROH's double shot in Detroit on March 30th & 31st. Last year Dragon Gate brought six top talents to ROH for the triple shot during The Milestone Series. The result was several excellent bouts including The Wrestling Observer match of the year. Tickets are now on sale for both 3/30 & 31 at www.ROHwrestling.com or by calling 215-781-2500.

Complete match details will be released after the Fifth Year Festival. You can expect one night to feature several ROH vs. Dragon Gate matches. ROH officials are hoping to put together a six man tag that can rival the match of the year from "Supercard Of Honor" for the other night. These plans are subject to change. One thing you are guaranteed is that these exceptional athletes will be put in the best matches possible to give you the most bang for your buck. The official list that is signed for 3/30 & 31 in Detroit include:

-CIMA
-Naruki Doi
-Ryo Saito
-Dragon Kid
-Shingo
-Masaaki Mochizuki
-Susumu Yokosuka

This will mark the ROH debuts of Mochizuki and Yokosuka. CIMA, Doi, Saito and Dragon Kid were all part of last year's huge shows. When you add other Dragon Gate veterans like Matt Sydal, Jack Evans, Roderick Strong, Austin Aries and Jimmy Rave to the mix the match possibilities are endless. It is also possible that the Dragon Gate stars will be placed in first time ever dream matches against other regulars on the ROH roster.

The addition of these seven unique talents insure that both the Detroit events will be well rounded, can't miss shows. Keep checking ROHwrestling.com for more big announcements for this weekend.

The very first ROH show five years ago featured an international title match. Now five years later to the day, an even more prestigious international title will be defended on a ROH event. History will be made when the Fifth Year Festival comes to Dayton. There will be several more main event quality matches announced for this event on Sunday. We list the current lineup below including another new match. Save 15% on tickets until TONIGHT at ROHwrestling.com.

February 14th: Before Sydal can think about defending his newly won Dragon Gate title, he has a tough weekend ahead of him. ROH World Tag Team Champions Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal have two big defenses signed. This Friday in Manhattan will see them put the belts on the line against the team that made the titles in World Titles. Austin Aries & Roderick Strong, the tag team of the year in 2006, will get their chance to regain the belts on Friday. These two teams stole the show last at "Gutcheck" last August. Now the roles are reversed and Aries & Strong want the belts back. If Daniels & Sydal make it past Aries & Strong on Friday, they will be challenged by the Dragon Gate duo of Jack Evans & Shingo in Philadelphia. This promises to be athletic tag wrestling at its best. If Sydal & Daniels lose the belts in NYC, they will still face Evans & Shingo in Philly. If Daniels & Sydal make it past this weekend, they can be considered the team to beat in the entire wrestling business. Save 15% on tickets for both Philly & NYC until TONIGHT at ROHwrestling.com.

February 14th: The 15% off EVERYTHING at www.ROHwrestling.com ends TONIGHT. Act now to save big on the latest releases from all promotions and ROH live event tickets. This is also your last chance to get shoot interviews for just $5 with the Straight Shootin' Series and DVDs from several promotions for just $10. Here are some of the recent releases at ROHwrestling.com that you can save 15% on until TONIGHT:
-Colt Cabana "Chicago Globetrotter" (See Cabana in action from Japan, Germany and Canada)
-Best Of Chris Hero In Europe Vol. 1 (includes a rare Hero vs. CM Punk 60 minute ironman match)
-Best Of Chris Hero In Europe Vol. 2 (Hero vs. Homicide 2/3 Falls, Hero vs. Doug Williams)
-NOAH "First Navigation 2007" preorder (Briscoes vs. Ricky Marvin & Kotaro Suzuki)
-FIP "Fallout 2006" (Roderick Strong vs. Davey Richards, Matt Sydal vs. Shingo)
-FIP "Southern Justice" (Bryan Danielson vs. Davey Richards, Roderick Strong vs. Matt Sydal)
-ROH old English logo and red script skull caps
-Dangerous Divas (editions with Traci Brooks, Lollipop and April Hunter)
-XPW "After The Fall" (unreleased action with Sabu, Terry Funk, Raven, Sandman, New Jack & others)
-Plus all the latest from WWE, TNA and may other promotions. Save 15% on all these titles until tonight at ROHwrestling.com.

February 14th: Roderick Strong is really looking forward to his FIP Heavyweight Title defense on Saturday against Delirious in Philadelphia. Delirious has been hot in FIP recently, even defeating Austin Aries. Delirious is also scheduled on several upcoming FIP events and he would like nothing more than to enter those events as champion. Strong's goal is to raise the prestige of the FIP Title and steal the show with the FIP Heavyweight Title Matches. Strong vs. Delirious tore down the house last September at the "Second Year Spectacular" in FIP. Now the fans in Philly will get a chance to witness the rematch with the richest prize in FIP on the line. Don't forget that FIP Heavyweight Title matches have a 20 count on the floor, no time limit and the belt can change hands on a countout or DQ.

February 14th: Keep an eye on Jay & Mark Briscoe this weekend. The Briscoes have already had a great 2007. They won the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Titles in January on their first night in NOAH, which is unheard of. They are the current FIP Tag Team Champions. During the first ROH weekend of the year they defeated two ghosts from their past. Now this weekend in NYC and Philly they are looking to keep the momentum going against two duos looking to establish themselves on the ROH tag scene. This means The Briscoes will be faced with two hungry teams that want to make their reputations at The Briscoes' expense. Friday in Manhattan will see Jay & Mark battle Nigel McGuinness & Colt Cabana, who are looking to team more frequently. Saturday in Philadelphia will have El Generico & the returning Kevin Steen try to earn their spot with a victory over The Briscoes. The Briscoes want to keep the momentum going as they head to a possible World Tag Title shot in Chicago!!!

February 14th: Check the main page of ROHwrestling.com for an article on Samoa Joe that includes results from every match Joe has had in ROH. This is a great look at Joe's career in ROH.

February 14th: The history will continue in Dayton on 2/23 with a huge card. You can save 15% on all tickets to this event including some great ringside seats until TONIGHT at ROHwrestling.com. Here is the current lineup:

Homicide defends vs. BJ Whitmer
(note: If Homicide loses the belt before February 23rd, Whitmer will challenge whoever the champion is)

Ring of Honor owner Cary Silkin was interviewed by Canada's Slam! Wrestling today, reflecting on the company's upcoming fifth year anniversary.  Highlights of the interview include:

Growth of ROH: "When I came on board the company was just running in Philly and Boston once a month. We upped the production and the locals and took on New Jersey, Long Island, New York City, Chicago, Dayton, so on and so forth. The quality of the production at the shows as well as on DVD improved greatly over the years and the wrestling has been phenomenal. I think that is one of the reasons Ring of Honor has been so successful is that the people involved with it are fans of the sport of pro wrestling. We all have a general idea of what we would like to see and try to produce that. The combination of everything has caused us to succeed. It is a miracle that we are even here after five years so its very exciting."

Ring of Honor's Philosophy: "Our philosophy is that I like to feel when you come to ROH you certainly get your money's worth. You get more action in a half an hour than some other promotions entire show and it is top quality wrestling. These guys are so good, the bar is set really high at Ring of Honor.  There are some guys who it's a dream to come to Ring of Honor. The veterans that have come in like Matt Hardy and Lance Storm, I wouldn't say they were nervous but they were concerned about their performance. When you come to see ROH shows you know you aren't going to be cheated at all it will be a great night of action."

The Departure of Samoa Joe: "He's been the Babe Ruth of Ring of Honor. He's called the 'ROH Legend' and he really is.  Personally he is a very nice guy and he works really, really hard, he doesn't cheat you when you go to see him perform you get tremendous action. His title reign was phenomenal when you think about that we are in an era of wrestling where you don't even know who the champions are because they don't hold them long enough for them to mean anything. Him getting to hold the belt for close to two years was fantastic. We understand that it's a natural thing for the position our company is in that we are going to lose guys, gain them back, they will come up and down. Coming into these last series of matches, I am happy that Joe is doing good in his career but we are sad not to be able to use him on future shows."

The Passing of Doug Gentry: "I knew Doug a long time. He was a friend of mine and I am very sad at his passing.  Due to the circumstances with the split of the company I haven't had a lot of communication with him in the last few years. Doug loved professional wrestling, and he was a good person. We were all very sad about his death. He did a lot for pro wrestling in general and I sent my condolences to his family. He was a good guy."

ROH as a Training Ground for Future Stars: "I wouldn't say we are a training ground so much as a breeding ground for these other companies. It is very exciting and it's going to keep happening as time goes on. I am sure there will be cases where guys leave and are tied up with other companies and eventually make their way we back. I look at it with some pride when these guys move on and are successful and visible in their careers. It's a good thing."

To read the entire interview, which includes Silkin's thoughts on the company's return to New York City, running Wrestlemania weekend, former ROH talents not being utilized to their full potential and much more, click here.

ROH will start their Fifth Anniversary Festival this weekend in New York City and Philadelphia.  For information, visit www.ROHWrestling.com.

February 15th: The birthday party starts tomorrow (Friday) night in the Grand Ballroom of the Manhattan Center on 311 West 34th St. in New York, NY with a zip code of 10001. Be there and witness the start of the Fifth Year Festival. There will be tickets available at the door and belltime is 8pm. ROH World Champion Homicide wants to keep the party going in NYC. This Friday will be a special night for Homicide as he walks into his hometown as ROH World Champion. Homicide was on the very first ROH show and now five years later he is walking into his city on top of the company. Jimmy Rave, who is red hot since developing the heel hook, wants to ruin the party and win the World Title in front of all Homicide's friends, family and fans. Rave insists the heel hook will make Homicide tap and give him the World Title. Rave's newfound confidence and aggressiveness could bring him the belt. Rave will also have to contend with NYC's Julius Smokes in the corner of the champion. You can expect these two athletes to pull out all the stops with the World Title on the line. Get your tickets at the door and experience the atmosphere for yourself. The party after Homicide won the World Title last time in Manhattan was the place to be, now Homicide wants to keep it going tomorrow night.

February 15th: This Saturday (February 17th) is the return to the place where it all started- Philadelphia!!! The Fifth Year Festival comes to the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory on 2700 Southampton Rd in Philadelphia, PA with a zip code of 19154. Belltime is 7:30pm and both bleachers will be open so there will be plenty of seats available at the door. This will be an emotional night for Samoa Joe. After 4 1/2 years, Samoa Joe will have his final match in Philly for ROH. Philadelphia is where Samoa Joe made his debut and became a star in one night. Philadelphia is where Samoa Joe won and lost the World Title in two of the most memorable moments in company history. Philadelphia has seen Joe battle Bryan Danielson, Christopher Daniels, Homicide and so many others. Joe has built ROH in Philadelphia and seen the company grow out of the Murphy Rec Center. Now Joe will wrestle in a ROH ring in Philadelphia for one final time. He will be faced with Davey Richards, who is coming into this match with a purpose. The last Philly event saw Joe send a message to NOAH by slapping Richards' mentor KENTA. Now Richards is coming for revenge for his mentor. Be there and thank Joe for over four great years and let Joe thank you for all your support with one final classic in Philadelphia.

February 15th: The buy 3, get 1 free sale on all ROH show, Straight Shootin' & Secrets Of The Ring DVDs will be in effect at the live events in Manhattan, Philadelphia, Dayton and Chicago. The timing couldn't be better because there will be two big releases this weekend at the live shows and on ROHwrestling.com. Check back later today for 12/22 "International Challenge" from Hartford and 12/23 "Final Battle 2006" from Manhattan. "International Challenge" is headlined by a great tag title match as Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal defend against CIMA & Shingo plus Roderick Strong vs. Davey Richards for the FIP Heavyweight Title, Bryan Danielson vs. Homicide vs. Nigel McGuinness vs. Jimmy Rave and more. "Final Battle 2006" features the historic Bryan Danielson vs. Homicide World Title Match, Briscoes vs. Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli and Dragon Gate Rules action with CIMA, Shingo & Matt Sydal vs. Austin Aries, Roderick Strong & Delirious plus many other matches. A big sale will be announced later today on the main page of ROHwrestling.com.

February 15th: Takeshi Morishima is set to arrive in New York today in preparation for his first weekend in ROH. The mammoth Morishima is looking to use his agility, size and power to defend NOAH's honor against Samoa Joe in Manhattan and then win the World Title in Philadelphia on Saturday. If Morishima fails he will return to Japan a shamed man. For more details read the article on Morishima on the main page of ROHwrestling.com. Will we witness the birth of the next force in ROH this weekend? There will be tickets available at the door on both nights so be there live and see for yourself.

February 15th: There will be lots of huge matches announced for Fifth Year Festival shows on 2/23 in Dayton, 2/24 in Chicago and 3/4 in Liverpool next week right here in the ROHwrestling.com Newswire.

February 15th: Five years ago an unknown company with some internet hype named Ring Of Honor ran its first show. 425 fans sold out the Murphy Rec Center in South Philadelphia. They saw the birth of the style, attitude and passion that you see today. The years have seen struggle, perseverance and strength as the ROH name grew in stature all over the world. Most importantly, the years have seen countless classic matches, memorable moments and historic shows. Be there this weekend in Manhattan and Philadelphia to celebrate this landmark. You have made five years possible. You have made ROH what it is today. Now be there and share this milestone. Tickets will be available at the door on the night of the show for both Manhattan and Philadelphia. We hope to see you there.

Due to an injury suffered in training Davey Richards will not be able to compete this weekend. He will be back in action in Datyon on 2/23. Richards insists that he will still be in attendance this weekend. A replacement in the Four Way Fray will be announced at the show in Manhattan. Samoa Joe will either wrestle Nigel McGuinness or the loser of the Jimmy Rave/Homicide 2/16 match in Philadelphia. We'll have an update on Samoa Joe's Philly opponent by Saturday morning. We apologize for the lineup change and assure you that we deliver two outstanding events. Tickets will be available at the door on both nights. Thank you.

Literally the biggest sensation to hit ROH has landed in NYC. Takeshi Morishima arrived in NYC earlier this evening. He enjoyed a first class dinner with ROH and NOAH officials before going to bed early to be well rested for this weekend's shows. Morishima is very excited and happy to be a part of ROH this weekend.

Here is a release about tonight's show in Manhattan. Tickets will be available at the door.

Here is a quick update for TONIGHT's event at the Manhattan Center, just a block from Madison Square Garden in the heart of Manhattan.

We are sorry to report that Davey Richards will not be able to wrestle on tonight's event due to an injury he suffered in training. We assure you that there will be a top quality replacement for Richards in the Four Way Fray.

Everyone at ROH is so proud to kick off the Fifth Year Festival at the Manhattan Center. The New York City fans have meant so much to ROH since the very first show. The NYC fans who used to take the bus trips and drive to the first Philly shows spread the word and created the buzz that made ROH grow.

New York City saw ROH's historic and memorable First Anniversary Show at the legendary Elk's Lodge in Queens, NY. Manhattan has become the place to be to witness ROH live. The first Manhattan event, "Manhattan Mayhem" in May of 2005, set a new standard for excellence. Since that time Manhattan has hosted one must see show after another including "Joe vs. Kobashi" and "Glory By Honor V: Night 2" (Wrestling Observer show of the year for 2006). The thing that made these shows so special was the atmosphere created by the rabid NYC fans.

We are honored to kick off the 5th birthday party in NYC. You better believe that the party will be hot all night at the Manhattan Center. Tickets will be available at the door tonight. Here is a quick look at all the info you need to know:

2/16 Show:

1) Takeshi Morishima defeats Pelle Primaeu. Pelle came out to begin the show, issuing an open challenge. Samoa Joe's music hit, but Morishima came out. Morishima destroyed Pelle in seconds, getting the victory. Nigel McGuinness then comes out to calm Morishima down.

2) Delirious defeats Adam Pearce. Pearce had a foreign object, went to hit Delirious with it, but hit Shane instead. In the confusion, Delirious picked up the object, and put it in his mask. He then hit a headbutt on Pearce, knocking Pearce out.

3) Sara Del Ray & Allison Danger defeat Alexa Fisher & Daizee Haze. Del Ray pinned Fisher after a double underhook suplex.

4) Four Way Fray: Xavier vs Jack Evans vs Jimmy Jacobs vs SHINGO
- Jack Evans eliminated Xavier after reverse hurricanrana.
- SHINGO eliminates Jimmy Jacobs
- Jack Evans pins SHINGO after a 630 splash from the top turnbuckle.

- Samoa Joe came to the ring to thank the New York ROH fans. He called out Morishima, but Nigel came out instead. Nigel and Joe exchange words, then brawl. Refs and students break it up.

5) Tables Match: B.J. Whitmer defeats Brent Albright. BJ Whitmer took a Razor's Edge through two doublestacked tables...and kicked out! BJ Whitmer wins the match after an exploder from the top turnbuckle through two tables. Said to be brutal and intense.

- After the match, Roderick Strong attacks Austin Aries, hitting a backbreaker. Davey Richards comes to the ring. Davey and Roderick are now a team known as the No Remorse Core. Jack Evans made the save for Aries, who was hurting badly.

Wow, simply wow.  Did anyone see this coming?  I know I'm stunned.  The potential matches that could come out of this are certainly intriguing, to say the least.  Man, I can't wait to get some first-hand details on the show.

Tree, from the board, is there live and said Roddy cut a "solid" promo, the 4 way was the best Jack Evans match ever, and Whitmer got the biggest pop of the night at one point during his match (he didn't say why)
