Didn't that whole funeral for ECW even hyped u up to buy the PPV even more?! I certainly did for me. Never have I ever thought of seeing Mr.McMahon, Eric Bischoff, and Paul Heyman in the same ring, at the same time. That was awesome moment right there. What a night it was on RAW, Historic! I wonder if Smackdown! will get involve with this angle since they too have some former ECW wrestler on their show/

Last Night's Raw has left me thoroughly convinced that WWE will screw up this PPV. The PPV still has potential, but WWE will ruin it by making sure Vince is in some way "the savior" and by simply having Eric Bischoff and some of Raw's heels (probably guys who should never be mentioned in the same breath as ECW, like Maven and Chris 'the Stevie killer" Masters) being present.

I want to see Sabu vs. RVD but it would be impossible since he needs to heal his knee, although n-e thang is possible with RVD! Speaking of RVD, I went to my local Lakewood Mall here in California, and I found out that his shop is closing. NOOOO....!!!!! I love that shop cuz everytime I go, I stop by to see what they have that I can buy, and usually right after a PPV, they have the video up on the shop so fans can view it. :o!

Its not closing, its just moving. Check out www.robvandam.com for more, it has a link to the store's website.

While RVD vs Sabu would be great, I doubt it would happen, as I don't think RVD's knee will be healthy and God only knows what condition Sabu is in. However, if there's anyone who could recover in time, that would be RVD. I'll just be happy to see him in any way.

Those matches have me as giddy as a little school girl. The only one that doesn't have me completely marking out is the Dreamer/Sandman vs Dudleyz, but that one should be violent and I'll pop for the returns of all four (I hope they let Sandman have his "Enter Sandman" entrance from the crowd, complete with excessive beer drinking). Just when I'm ready to give up on this PPV because of the now guaranteed WWE invovement, I'm back on the bandwagon, as those are some can't miss matches.

If those matches deliver half of what they are capable of, this one has PPV of the year written all over it.

I'm guessing there will be more, that will either be announced in the coming weeks or will happen spontaeneously at the card. I think these are to give perspective PPV buyers an idea of what'll be on the show, as people might be wary to buy a PPV with no announced matches.

OFFICIAL ECW: One Night Stand matches announced

Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman vs. Bubba & D-Von Dudley

Jackov

We got all sorts of goodness on the card, but this match got my attention for 2 big BIG wishes I have

1 - I want to see Beulah again.

2 - Because there is the chance that for the first time in forever I get to hear a REAL Dudley Boyz introduction from Joel Gertner

Let's take a stroll down memory lane, shall we....

I am Joel...

"If I was a movie star I'd be Connery or Roger Moore...because everyone around me knows I've seen P**** Galore"

Gertner....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this corner... at 24", the largest arms in the world... attached to the man who last night impregnated your mother... BIG DICK DUDLEY!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He is 250 lbs... rough, tough, stacked, and JAAAAACCCCKKKKKKEEEEDDDD!!!! From the mean streets of Dudleyville... D-Von Dudley! Joel Gertner

Wow man, u need to start watching some ECW tapes or DVDs. This is one of those promotion where u just want to say, "E-C-W, E-C-W, E-C-W!!!" over and over again. I just wish it stayed on forever, but WCW had to kill it.

davidsamta

ECW was a small Philadelphia based wrestling promotion that became the catalyst for change in the wrestling world. While WWE and WCW were using larger than life cartoony characters and rapidly losing the interest of the fans, ECW gained popularity pushing the envelope and delivering more realistic stories and characters. They promoted by "extreme hardcore" action and also some of the finest technical wrestling in the world. Both WWE and WCW would steal both ideas and wrestlers from ECW and benefitted from it. WWE's Attitude era really got its inspiration from ECW.

ECW was the breeding ground for not just a wrestling revolution, but showcased some of the best talent in the world before they had piqued WWE or WCW's radar, including the likes of Benoit, Jericho, Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, The Dudley Boyz, Tazz, Lance Storm, Jerry Lynn, Rob Van Dam, and many more legendary figures of professional wrestlers.

not sure if this has been sed but:
According to numerous WWE sources, Terry Funk will not be appearing at the ECW One Night Stand PPV on June 12 by his own choice. The original plan for the event was to have Funk tag with Tommy Dreamer against The Dudley Boyz. The Sandman will now team with Dreamer instead.

I think what is gonna happen here is, they will have former ECW superstars who rebel against it from coming back, but then they turn on Kurt and Eric cuz they needed to come back to the show and kick the HOLY HELL outta of Kurt and Eric. That way, they can shut those two up, and have a good old fashion of Hardcore Action! That is just my theory.

Source: WrestlingExposed.com

The following is an interview excerpt from Rob Van Dam's appearance on "Byte This!" on WWE.com last night:

Rob Van Dam is BT’s first guest and BT plays a clip of him wrestling Bam Bam Bigelow in ECW before welcoming him to the show. He tells us that he is doing “excellent.” He says that he underwent surgery on his ACL and meniscus in January and was told that it would take 6-12 months to heal. He opted for the six, he laughs. “Come on, twelve months. That’s for normal people.” He doesn’t look at this as coming back from an injury as his knee was already bothering him for a while with a torn meniscus. But then, in his last match, it somehow found its way into his kneecap, which obstructed any movement whatsoever, requiring immediate surgery.

He is happy that he went to James Andrews for the procedure, a man that he and the other WWE superstars put their bodies in the hands of all the time.

As he recuperates, he will also continue to do his infamous stretching, which he considers a safety insurance between him and another injury, “besides the fact that I’m the toughest guy in the company,” he smiles. He is already up and about, moving, being able to jump around, and land on his still-healing leg, throwing punches with dumbbells as he does so. “I’ll be back to my superhuman self in no time.”

But he wasn’t only rehabbing at home this whole time. Rob was also at a few comic book conventions, at celebrity signings, and some appearances for WWE, like the one he did in London, before going off to Mexico for a little much-needed vacation with his wife. And now that he is in town he is able to spend more time at his Five-Star Comic shop in LA. And since Wrestlemania was in Los Angeles this year he was able to have such notables as Spike Dudley, Kane, and then Bret Hart, “which was historical.” His shop recently moved out of the Lakewood mall into Lomeda to allow them to expand more. Its grand opening is set for June 23rd and Rey Mysterio will be on hand to sign autographs.

Although RVD likes being more of a singles wrestler, he loves the creative opportunities that only surface in tag team bouts, like when he teamed with Rey Mysterio before his injury. Rob tells us that he hasn’t enjoyed a partner like Rey since teaming with Sabu. Rey, RVD professes, is, “one of the coolest guys, in person, that I know, in and out of the business… He seems to want the same thing out of a match that I do, in the same way of giving his body to entertain the crowd.”

The hosts compliment RVD, telling him that he is on a role. Rob then looks at his watch and, hey, “Speaking of rolling, it’s 4:20 guys... Oh, that’s a different one, never mind, we won’t go there,” the aficionado jokes.

RVD is immensely pumped up for the ECW One Night Stand pay per view. For the people who have never witnessed the promotion in its glory days, Rob guarantees that they are going to love it. But, “This pay per view is going to be an extreme success and it’s going to be because of the hardcore ECW fans, there’s no doubt about it. That’s why I went to Vince with this idea six, seven, months ago and said ‘You have to do this. ECW is over, it’s huge. Just one night only, we don’t need any storylines going into it. Just ECW alumni only. The guys that were there that felt that passion, that shared that energy with the crowd, let us go again for one night.’”

However, as much as RVD wishes that it stays pure to the ECW of old, there will be a slew of other WWE wrestlers going along with Eric Bischoff for some added exposure. RVD comments, “I don’t know who all is going to be there besides the ECW wrestlers. I understand that there’s going to be some kind of Invasion, talk of some wrestlers there for some kind of Invasion angle. My opinion on that is that those guys are definitely not going to be drawing the ratings for this pay per view. They are definitely not selling any seats. Nobody’s coming to see them, they have no business being there. This pay per view is going to kick ass. It’s going to be ECW-style, thanks to Paul Heyman, because he is the only one that understands enough to make the authority of decisions on putting this thing together. He’s the only one that understands the ECW crew. You can’t come in from outside the box and start throwing ideas around and really know what’s going to work. This is going to kick ass. It’s going to be historical. And for that night, consider me to be ECW, all the way.”

A program that he might consider working for the pay per view is one against Rhino, who wore RVD’s TV championship when an injured Rob had to drop it after successfully defending the title for two years. “Of course, I would also love to wrestle Jerry Lynn again,” a guy who he feels brought out the best that RVD had to offer every time they stepped in the ring together.

Rob loved the RVD DVD. He is stoked on how well they edited his matches into what he was discussing during his interviews. Even the trailer was put together better than he could have imagined, he praises. And this is a huge compliment to the editing crew, especially, he admits, since he is usually so particular about how production captures him. For example, he tells us, he always takes case when video cameras shoot too close to him, not capturing the full length of his wide jumps. Or when it is too far away to really catch the impact of his kicks. But this time no complaints, as the DVD was a huge success. He also thanks the fans for making it a top seller.

As far as the draft lottery approaching, “I didn’t like it last time, I got comfortable on Raw. I liked the live TV.” He was Mr. Monday night and had to switch to a taped, edited down show. But, when he made the switched he reasoned that at least his “homies” Booker T and Rey Mysetrio were there to keep him comfortable. Of course, they might switch over to Raw also now, so that might be cool if he does switch. Whatever the case, he wouldn’t want to be left without them because if his friends are around while he works, it makes his job better, he feels.

Rob goes, but not before plugging the new telephone number for his 5-Star Comics store, which happens to be (310) 326-5-RVD.

Nobody’s coming to see them, they have no business being there... thanks to Paul Heyman, because he is the only one that understands enough to make the authority of decisions on putting this thing together. He’s the only one that understands the ECW crew. You can’t come in from outside the box and start throwing ideas around and really know what’s going to work.Rob Van Dam

I'm currently taking bets as to who they'll make RVD job to for these honest comments that are right on the money. Any guesses?

I wonder if Ms. Conginiality (Lita) will be able to work the PPV. I would love to see her against Dawn Marie. Anyone know how Lita's leg is doing.

I'm nearly positive that Lita will not be reprising her role as Ms. Congeniality and moreover, I don't see her making an appearance at the PPV period. #1 With Edge being one of Bischoff's "Generals" it makes no sense, storylinewise, for Lita to reprise her role. #2 I don't think WWE wants her on the show because she will undoutably recieve a less than flattering reception from the unforgiving ECW fanbase (if thats what the crowd ends up being like). #3 From the announced matches, it seems that Dawn Marie's role is to be Lance Storm's valet again.

New match was just added. Lance Storm w/ Dawn Marie vs. Chris Jericho. This one should be a classic. Francine and Dawn Marie has had their share of fights as well. Maybe these two divas will go at it.

I have never seen a single ECW anything, other then the ECW rules matches. I only heard about it right before it went under. I am looking forward to this. WWE has gone soft, and it will be a nice change of pace to see some more hardcore action.

To see what ECW has done in the past, pick up The Rise and Fall of ECW, and Rob Van Dam: One of a Kind DVD to see what ECW was all about!

If all you've seen are WWE' "ECW rules" matches, then you really haven't seen ANYthing ECW. Do not judge ECW by those matches. If you want the basic history of ECW and an idea of what they were really about, do yourself a favor and follow Kevy's advice.

heres some bad news:

Adding to a report broken on this website earlier in the week, PWInsider.com cites WWE sources who are expressing much frustration over the ECW PPV. What was originally viewed as a heavily-anticipated show has lost quite a bit of luster amongst those backstage, with some even 'dreading' the PPV.

The original idea was for the PPV to be a legitimate "ECW-style" show full of input from Tommy Dreamer and Paul Heyman. However, when the show failed to sellout in the first week of ticket availability (many blame the $400 price tag), WWE made the call to include some WWE workers and step back from the pure-ECW format. When that didn't increase buzz, WWE was forced to drop some of the ticket prices and include wrestlers from both WWE rosters in "invasion" storylines.

Much of the show will now be in the hands of the WWE creative team, which has not recently impressed those in the industry. As the PPV approaches, the show that was supposed to be a throwback to the ECW days is becoming more and more like a traditional WWE PPV.

RVD talks some more about ECW "One Night Stand" and WWE's involvement:

ROB VAN DAM DISCUSSES ECW ONE NIGHT STAND, REACTION TO WWE'S PROMOTION OF THE SHOW, WHY HE WANTS TO TALK TO VINCE & MORE
by Mike Johnson @ 9:00:00 PM on 6/3/2005

In article posted this evening by The London Sun Rob Van Dam discusses a number of aspects of the build for the 6/12 ECW One Night Stand PPV. In regard to the show, Van Dam (who originally came up with the idea of the ECW reunion show) said that he believes the PPV will end up as one of the top three successful PPVs of the year, but he knows that there is a faction trying to undermine the PPV.

"It will always be a problem because there are certain voices higher-up that like to flatten out anything that could jeopardize their stronghold, rather than seeing the overall benefit to the industry of something like this. So, for sure, there is going to be some turbulence and some swimming up stream. But this show has a strong possibility of finishing as the third biggest PPV of the year. And if that happens there's one guy in the office who is really good at making decisions and has the best interests of this business in his heart."

Van Dam said that one person is Vince McMahon, who he'd like to speak to one on one, stating, "I want to talk to not all the minions around him, who have their own agendas for their own reasons."

Van Dam was also quick to speak out against the creative decision to include Raw and Smackdown performers who never worked for Extreme Championship Wrestling to the show, going as far as to state they don't deserve to be on the show.

"Those guys are definitely not going to be drawing the ratings for this PPV. They are definitely not selling any seats. Nobody's coming to see them and they have no business being there. The original plan was to have only ECW alumni on this show. There is no place for somebody pretending they're hardcore when they were never there, whether they've got a sledgehammer in their hand or not! The WWE writers are taking part in the show, but us true hardcore ECW guys will vote out anything ridiculous they try to add to it."

Van Dam remains outspoken that the show will still be true to the aura and style of Extreme Championship Wrestling, promising, "The fans can feel secure in the fact that this is totally going to be ECW for the ECW crowd. Regardless of what you read on the Internet, this show is all about Paul Heyman and it has to be. Even if the WWE only give Paul one tenth of the say so, then we're all going to carry out his plans anyway - because we agree with him. That's what sets us apart from the rest of the locker room!"

While he can't compete due to his knee injury, Van Dam promised that he would make an appearance at the show before the fans.

"I'm planning on definitely getting on the microphone and coming forward to take credit for not only this ECW PPV, but also for my time in ECW, what I achieved and how we changed the entire wrestling industry. It's going to be really personal and intimate between me and the crowd. So I will probably pull a Tommy Dreamer and ball my eyes out in the middle of the ring, in front of everybody. Also, given the opportunity, I'm going to try and throw a Van Daminator at Rhyno."

Van Dam also states that although the show could end up with he, Tommy Dreamer, and Paul Heyman doing commentary, the person he wants announcing the show is Joey Styles. Van Dam also says that if there is a second ECW show, he'll be pushing for himself against Jerry Lynn as the main event, promising that fans haven't seen the last encounter between the two.
