Hello everybody. I had just come from the TNA tapings and I overheard a weird rumor. A person who knows both WWE and TNA wrestlers was telling some people that the WWE is going to purchase TNA in december. TNA will stay in florida and will be run there by the WWE. WWE wrestlers will be showing up on TNA ppvs but basically TNA will be run seperately from the WWE. Anybody know more about this rumor? Anybody believe this rumor?

It sounds fake but... then again no one ever thought WCW would be bought out the way it did... so I guess it's one of those "anything can happen" cliches.

The only merger between TNA and WWE will be when WWE buys TNA's name and tape library for a bargain when Dixie Carter gets sick of flushing money down the toilet.

I think it will eventually happen if TNA gets big enough to make some serious money. I don't think Vince would take such a big chance so early in TNA's life.

he might be trying to kill any hype TNA might be getting by "Vinceing" up the place.

I have a question though about monopolies. I know there's plenty of wrestling businesses around the world such as ROH and so on, but speaking purely of the United States, would the WWE buying out TNA produce a monopoly and therefore require WWE to be split up? I was just wondering if there was any US based wrestling shows/businesses that were big enough to be seen as competition. If there aren't, then WWE really can't do anything to TNA in terms of purchasing them.

I think WWE is having way too much fun laughing at the idiots running TNA to buy them out. I've heard people taking bets already on when TNA is going to go out of business withoutMcMahon buying them out.

No one stopped them when they bought WCW and it took about a year for TNA to launch. I'd barely be willing to call TNA competition today, I'd hardly call them competition in those weekly PPV days.

I imagine if anyone ever took issue with a WWE monopoly, WWE's stance would be that they are doing nothing to stop anyone from holding a wrestling show and making money off of it. They are doing nothing to keep any wrestling shows off TV or PPV, its just a matter of someone putting a brand together.

I'd also like to point out that I don't think wrestling has recovered from WWE's initial monopoly. I'm not just talking about the quality of WWE, but the fact that any wrestling show that doesn't have a WWE logo stamped on it (including even the WWE endorsed ECW) can barely draw a rating a third of the size Raw's or half the size of Smackdown's. I don't even know the PPV buy rate numbers, That's just my take.
