WWE Thursday Night RAW Discussions Thread - February 16, 2006

There’s already a blockbuster lineup of matches announced for a special Thursday Night RAW (9/8 CT; USA).

The Rated-R Superstar will attempt to regain the WWE Championship in a match officiated by John Cena’s hand-picked referee: Mick Foley. Edge earned the rematch thanks to a controversial disqualification victory involving Lita. Can Edge seize the moment and become a two-time world champion, or will Foley be raising Cena’s hand in victory? We’ll find out on Thursday night.

In semifinals of the Road to WrestleMania Tournament, Triple H battles familiar rival Big Show, and Chris Masters takes on Rob Van Dam.

Triple H and Big Show have squared off at New Year’s Revolution and during the Royal Rumble Match, but the stakes will be high on RAW with a spot in the finals on the line. In the recent past, the Cerebral Assassin has pulled out all the stops to neutralize the size and strength of the largest athlete in the world. Will "The Game" find a way to win again, or will Big Show get some sweet revenge and advance in the Tournament?

"The Masterpiece" has never experienced the pageantry of WrestleMania, but the rising star is only two wins away from having his WrestleMania debut come in the main event for the WWE Championship. Meanwhile, RVD has patiently rehabbed an injury, itching to get back to action and into the championship hunt. Will the "Whole Dam Show" overwhelm Masters, or will he find himself trapped in the Master Lock like so many others? Watch RAW on Thursday night to find out who’s going to the finals of the Road to WrestleMania Tournament.

In addition, one of the greatest Superstars in WWE history will have his career come to a screeching halt during a "Mandatory Shawn Michaels Retirement Party" ordered by Mr. McMahon. HBK isn’t likely to be in a partying mood and anything could happen.

I've already watched the show and I recommend that you all tune in for  especially RVD/Masters, and also Hunter/Show.

Not a bad show really. It looks better than what SD! has to offer this week, and that's saying something right there.

I heard the RVD/Masters match were terrible. But then I heard that the Show/Trips match is worth watching, and especially the main event match between Edge and Cena!

Pretty solid Raw, with a few exceptions, when I've been paying attention.

Wow...Cena vs. Edge was actually GOOD!

For the first time since Cena was heel he actually impressed me.

That was a solid RAW. This was probably the best Edge/Cena match yet, in all honesty. The rest of the show was pretty good too....except for the Mickie James segment, then I just changed the channel. The Michaels/Vince thing.....yeah. Kinda interesting, but kinda not.

Other than that, pretty good. The Triple Threat match seems solid for Monday.

Trips/Show was pretty good, surprisingly.  And I like the interesting ending.  You know what it means, right?  RVD pins Show in the finals, that way Trips doesn't lose.  Everyone gets what they want!

Why the hell is Ashley still on my TV set?  I still held out hope for her until about a month ago.  The girl just can't get it right.  At least she had the awareness to switch to a different pin.

I liked the Mickie James segment.  Trish dates ugly guys?  YES!!! :D

Cena vs. Edge was good enough.  Foley's little spoiler kind of ruined it, though.  And Cena going off the top-rope like that was so out of character.  A top-rope leg drop would have been much more believable.

For the most part it was good, but nothing really stood out to make me glad I watched it.

Sadly, that's not what it means.

Here's a real shocking opinion from The Dude, for the most part during this Raw, when they were wrestling, things were good, when they weren't things with bad.  Both Big Show vs Triple H and Edge vs Cena were better than I expected, both of which is a good sign for a Wrestlemania main event that desperately needs one.  RVD vs Masters was also pretty good, IMO.  What's really sad is that it could well be Masters best single match. 

I like the prospects of next week's triple threat match, even though I'm pretty sure I won't like the outcome one bit.  There is some potential for that match and it might be given enough time, since Triple H is in it.

I couldn't help but think how much better Edge-Cena would have been if I didn't know the otcome, which goes into the whole live vs taped discussion.  There were some real good nearfalls in that one that could have been real exciting if it had been live.  Nice to see an exciting Cena match on Raw, for once.  I still say the wrong guy won.

Seriously, what the hell was that F-U counter into the Impaler DDT?  It just looked like Cena put him down.

Man, WWE is obsessed with getting Shelton over as the "Mama's Boy," even though no one really seems interested in that chant.  At this rate, I wouldn't be shocked to see WWE pipe a "Mama's Boy" chant through the speakers.

Can anyone give me a good reason as to why Ashley is in a wrestling ring?  What happened to shooting T-Shirts into the crowd?  I think I preferred that.  Seriously, why isn't she in OVW.

WWE, again, is pushing the realm of idiocy with the Mickie James segment.  Wouldn't it have been better for everyone had the whole world NOT see Mickie fake things?  Have I ever mentioned the fact that I hate sexual harrassment angles in wrestling?  It brings back bad memories.*

Man, all that time and time spent on the Michaels retirement segment and it advanced absolutely nothing.  McMahon's going to make Michaels life a living hell... okay, wasn't that what Vince has been doing for weeks now.

Seriously, that whole segment all I could think about is what I'd rather see Michaels doing than being involved in this damn feud.

Still, overall, this was a pretty good Raw.

I missed most of Raw last night, I fell asleep during the Triple H and Big Show match, and didn't wake up untill the end of the show.

lol...if Ashley can make it into WWE then we all have a chance too. i'm pretty sure everyone here has better in-ring skills than her...hell, a 3 year old with down syndrome has better in-ring skills than her(no offense to any 3 year olds with ds here)

I couldn't even tell if it was a crucifix because of how bad it was. I've seen 10 year olds that can do that move.
