I loved the crowd for most of the show.
But they were total pricks during the majority of Cena's speech.
Oh and BROCK F*CKING LESNAR.
[QUOTE="JML897"]So hey. Why do people still hate Cena? Is it just because it's the cool thing to do?
Kotenks
Because of the way he was booked for the past years. People get tired of him. Now it's a thing to do to show disapproval.
I think that's the real truth of it. My problem is that most of the haters won't say that. Most of the haters I encounter still cling to the tired "Cena can't wrestle" argument despite the extensive and growing evidence to the contrary. And I do believe there's an element of it being the "cool thing to do" as well. Think back to Royal Rumble '08 when Cena made his surprise return. The crowd went NUTS. Then after a couple of minutes, when the smart asses stopped marking out like like little girls (or Matt Striker) they remembered "Oh yeah, we're supposed to boo the guy." As to his promo, I think that was just about everything John Cena shouldn't have said. It was almost as bad as if they had ended Mania on the handshake and hug. That was literally the first time I've ever seen a crowd actually begging for a heel turn to.When he doesn't go into goofy Cena mode, he's fine to solid. But while he's not winning and pulling the "against all odds" numbers as much, he's still standing for Truth, Justice and the American Way. He's Superman playing to a crowd that wants Batman. He has been moving closer and closer to developing the edge that he so desperately needs (and had when people originally rallied behind him) which was why tonight's promo was a couple of steps backwards. EDIT: Personally, I think WWE WANTS the mixed reaction for Cena. I'm not sure going immeadiately to Lesnar-Cena is a great move, because Lesnar's the shiny new toy of the WWE Universe, but, thematically, Brock is a suitable follow up if WWE plays it that way. I mean just about everything Cena said about Rock can be said about Lesnar, only this time they'd be true. We'll see.Yeah but at this point WWE has to be thinking "WTF do you want us to do?!?!" because he hasn't been "Super Cena" for a while now. He's been pretty okay on the mic too.

Is there a certain bandwagon element to the Cean hate? Absolutely.
To certain degree, regardless of what the guy done now, it's also a case the damage has already been done.
And, while it's not Cena's fault, in the eyes of many, he represents an era of wrestling that sucks. Counter him to the Rock, who represents nostalgia, the good old days, when wrestling was cool.
Otherwise, more than anything else, the guy's character, in general, just sucks. He comes across as a douchebag. Almost always, everything is happy-go-lucky with Cena, win, lose, or draw. And his comedy sucks. Like, it really sucks. He comes across as the local neighbor dork trying to impersonate The Rock, but failing miserably. It's embarrassing.
Plus, something about Cena, often, that just scream "contrived".
I will say in recent weeks, his character, for the most part, has improved during The Rock feud (aside from the week where he decided to put a Halloween costume on).
Oh, and I think the huge pop for Cean at Rumble 08 had more due with nobody, not even the "dirt sheet" writers, seeing it coming, combined with the fact he's was (and is) a huge star.Â
Otherwise, there's a lot of dirt on Cena. Going to take more than a few weeks of good behavior to wash it off. Personally, I am still not convinced he's not going to go back into happy-go-lucky bad comedy douchebag mode in a few weeks, once everything is back to normal.
Edit: In regards to Cena as a worker, depends on your perspective.
From the perspective of having good matches, no question, he's had many of them. Granted, he has had many opportunities, with many great dance partners taking the lead.
However, from the perspective of mechanically moving around in the ring, doing moves, he's terrible.Â
I can't see the "Cena can't wrestle" theory anymore, given his FMoD matches are so so rare now (last one, although not FMoD, has to be his "I Quit" match against Miz last year).
Cena's segment last night was what showed my problems with him nowadays. In the month building up to WrestleMania, he talks about how he "loses everything" if he doesn't win, and that "no one remembers second place". Heck, brings back Word Life Cena and that past month was pretty good for him.
Then he loses - fair enough - and during the night they build up Cena's segment as if it's going to be really dramatical what he'll say. And then he says "yeah, I said that stuff, I lost, but we'll move on now". Seriously, what the hell.
Admittedly, I'm surprised they allowed for Cena to do the "falling for the handshake" moment though.
It's only because Cena wants to yap and talk all the time. People are bored of Cena being all Patrotic about himself and taking 10 minute segments constantly to speak. Also people were going crazy because FINALLY Cena does not seem invincible.
Also, I found this RAW to be pretty darn good. The matches sucked a$$, but the segments were brilliant. I even got to see a rare Jericho mistake which made me laugh and totally mark out.
That video is so great, it's almost worth him being taken off TV for 6 months for saying Wrestlemania was the worst night of his career.Daniel Bryan speaks after a dark match! (where he lost to Sheamus again...)

Random lil' tidbit:
Prior to yesterday, the last time Brock Lensar was in a WWE ring, it was the same night Cena won his first championship - the US Title.

Heck, brings back Word Life Cena and that past month was pretty good for him.Yeah, that was a bit weird. At first, I like him saying he sorry if he let anybody down, actually showing, for once, it matters whether or not he wins. Then he loses - fair enough - and during the night they build up Cena's segment as if it's going to be really dramatical what he'll say. And then he says "yeah, I said that stuff, I lost, but we'll move on now". Seriously, what the hell.Redders1989
Then, afterwards, he proceed to, let's be honest here, to bend over backwards to kiss The Rock's ass. It was contrived as hell. It's one to thing to "have a mutal respect" thing, or whatever, but he straight up went head first into the guy's ass.Â
However, forget all that. He acknowledged and amplified the "Yes!" and "Daniel Bryan" chants. That was awesome.Â

I thought it was hinting at the F5 coming later in the show. Not necessarily for Punk, but just to hint to the crowd that Lesnar might be on Raw.
"The kidnappers behind Matt Striker's disappearance"? Is NXT a TNA show?-The_Chris-And here I thought Striker disappeared for actually saying "I'm marking out, bro!" on live TV... in addition to his overall horrible Rumble call.
