How can Halo 1 be better than 2?

I really don't understand how people think Halo 1 is better than 2. Its makes no sense.

Halo 2 has better sound and graphics.

Halo 2 has more multiplayer modes that you can customize yourself for thousands of gaming options.

Halo 2 has way more balanced weapons than the ones in Halo 1. MUCH more balanced in Halo 2.

Halo 1's maps are pretty weak compared to Halo 2. (The only one I really liked was Hang em high)

Halo 1 doesn't have the amazing online mode that Halo 2 invented.

Yeah, halo 2 has a short single player mode, but so did Halo 1. Took me about 7 or 8 hours to beat Halo 1. Not that much of a difference.

The only thing that Halo 1 had better than halo 2 was a better story and ending. That's pretty much it.

So, in my own person opinion Halo 2 >>>>>>>> Halo 1.

Halo 2's multiplayer may be way better, especially with Xbox Live.  But I absolutely hated how the story ended so abruptly.  Its like "Nice work chief," and then that's it.  The credits start scrolling down the screen, and that's the part where I say "What the heck ?!"  I seriously thought that there was going to be at least 2-3 hours more of gameplay in the campaign mode.  I think people say Halo 1 is better than 2 for that reason.  Plus, playing Halo 2 might not give people the same experience they had with the first installment in the series.  There's nothing like jumping in that Warthog for the first time, gunning down enemies with your AI pals in the gunner and passenger seat.

hmm, well, I thought the gameplay was better in halo 2, and in my opinion, gameplay is far more important than the story...

In terms of balance, neither is better balanced in terms of weaponry; both are very poorly balanced in that respect.

Regarding campaign, Halo 1 is much better. Halo 2 is mroe vareid, but it ends very, very abruptly.  Story aside, (which I pretty much ignored anyway). Halo 1 feels complete, Halo 2 does not.

ok im going to tell you exactly why some people like and say halo 1 is better then 2 and you all will belive me on this caues its true now the reason is becaues halo brought a new next gen experience with the xbox controller layout and console made it all new and a awsome NEW key word new experince to the gender caues no other game is like it at the time or even befor caues games get better and different as new consoles and conroller and hardware come alonge and makes a new experince thats y and well halo 2 dident bring a new experince as number 1 did becaues..it was already done..they just made it better not give you as new experince like halo brought thats why so you wont get that feeling of wow this is new and different and yer becaues halo 2 dident bring a different and new experience just added a whole heap of stuff witch still made it better get it see thats the reason but you blokes just carnt see it caues someone like me needed to point it out for yaGlyndin

Halo 1 probably got a better score cause at the time it  surpassed all standards plus it was the killer ap for xbox. Halo 2 did improve but like most sequels doesn't have the same feel as when you play an orignal title.
