The XBox dashboard is displaying an advertisement for one month of gold membership for one dollar. Credit card is required.

*To get the $1/1 Month you have to subscribe. That means every month (excluding this month) you have to pay $7.99, which charges you to more then $80/year. It's a far better deal to go out and buy a 12 month card for $50.

I'd check that out. Too bad I live in Canada. I doubt it applies to me.

I don't care what the deal is, I'm not giving my credit card to Microsoft. I've heard to many bad stories about it.

Sounds likea heck of a deal! I do however think MS needs to rethink their cancelling process. I mean you can click a button to subscribe but you can't click one to unsubscribe. WTF is up with that? You have to call a freaking phone number or replace your Sub with a prepaid MS card. Pretty wacky.

You know your broke when you go to purchase a $1 subscription and your credit card is denied... I miss XBL so much, sort of. (I only play COD4 multiplayer so my Box hasn't been played in weeks... damn shame)

I have never heard of anyone having problems with LIVE and credit or debit details. In fact all I have ever heard is the opposite. They have a good record for security as far as I know.

Should back those statements up with evidence guys.

Hey, if you have a 12 month active already, and you buy this 1$ for one month, does it add it on?

Your evidence is 'probably'?

I would hardly take the word of some of the people on here, on the whole not the most mature of sites.

There are a lot of good people though.

If you ever order any subscribtion you should always make sure it's canceled yourself any way.

That hardly counts as card fraud

Yeah, its not just Microsoft. Sadly these days, almost always if a deal looks to good to be true, it either is, or there are some thick strings attached. Never rely on anyone else besides for yourself to get the job done right. I would be all for this deal, but you better believe that if I only wanted the month and not to be billed I would be there a few days before the end of my period ready to cancel. Gotta be on your game guys. :)

Did I misread the article gamespot article on this? It says the first month is a $1, but then aftewards, it's $7.99/month? I thought LIVE was $50/year and not according to that deal, $89/year.

Yeah, I checked it too. To get one month for a buck you have to subscribe with your credit card. It's a far better deal to just buy a 12 month card; especially because cancelling your credit card after just one month would be hell.

I'm not talking about it being stolen, I'm talking about how MS has been known to not cancel your account when you want to and charge extra money for no reason.

you have to do that like weeks in advance for the computer to not do that...it's the same with any system

if you do it too late then it might charge you again because it didn't have enough time to process

It should, I added a one month card onto my year when I got my console back and it changed the renew date.

Yeah, I think not reading the print is the problem. After the trial period, will they cancel it or renew it automatically if you don't do anything (for this deal, it will be renewed unless you cancel it)? How many weeks in advance will you need to cancel it so you won't get charged again? These things you need to know. It's illegal to charge your credit card without you authorizing it, so you must have done something, or not have done something, for you to be charged.

Anyways, does anyone know of any catches to this, like in order to get the deal you have to have extra months too?

VCWilson121

Yes. As I updated and mentioned twice before you have to subscribe for one year. This means you'll be paying over $80 instead of the $50 for a 12 month card.

Actually, I just called then and apparently, if you cancel before it automatically renews, you'll be good. I guess it's kind of like those Netflicks deals where you get a free trial and it will be set up to charge you after X weeks unless you do something about it.
