Hmm how can no one tell the difference between 1080 and 720. 1080 clearly looks sharper in HD video, HD television. This question also depends a lot on the type of screen you have. For example Most 720p LCDs have a native resolution of 1366x768 when you input a 720p stream or a 1080i stream they will look the same since the 1080 is downgraded to 720. therefore a person would not be able to tell the difference. other situations as well

My tv's old so it doesn't have 1080p, so I run it at 720p. Since it's progressive, it looks better for motion and runs much smoother than 1080i.

I use 720p.

I think static pictures look better in 1080i but 720p seems to run smoother. There's not much of a difference though so not sure if I'm just imagining it.
