when you transfer data from hard drive to a new hard drive i hear you lose all of your dlc. however i also heard you could also redownload it for free. is this true? but more importantly is that is true what happens to the dlc that uses codes that can only be used once? do you lose those forever?

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/licensemigration/

That's how to migrate licenses from one console to another. It should be the same process.

As long as its the same console, it should download it for you once you queue it up. If you have trouble, than use that Xbox.com link.

If you're using the transfer cable I believe it will automatically transfer everything you have on your current drive to your new drive excluding movie rentals.

If that does happen what you'll have to do is go into your download history and redownload it. You'll be able to do that for free. If you find there's anything that will only work while your connected to Live it means the licenses didn't transfer over and you'll need to do a license tranfer at xbox.com but I think you only have to do that when switching to a new console.

If you have ANY game saves that you invested time in, spend some extra cash and move them to a memory card first. After an hour and a half of transferring my full 20GB to my new 120GB it gave me the old E68 -- bye bye saves.

How on earth do you get a transfer cable if you didnt buy the elite system. All I want to do is transfer data from one hardrive to another with the same xbox. I have a 20 gig but ran out of room why doesnt the 120 gig come with the cable??? Where can I get a cable on the xbox website it gives you one only if you bought the elite system and are changing xbox systems completely im using the same system but with a new hardrive. Best Buy, Gamestop, nobody even knows what im talking about when i say transfer cable.
