As long as you're mature enough. I hate listening to children over the XBL mics squealing and crying. Just as long as you play without your mic plugged in, it won't really matter. There's barely any cursing in the single player mode, and its not very gory or bloody at all. Only thing your parents will have to worry about is other XBL punks cursing and generally being obscene over the mic.iareconfusei have pretty low voice im pretty sure i sound nothing like that but its ok because my mic broke:( my lil 6 year old brother chewed on it. And i usually turn mics off when my parents are around.
No. The game is rated M for Mature, which means you should be 17 to playchoffy
Actually according to XBL it's 18. Anyway it's not really that bloody or gorey. Not to mention there's like eight year olds that play.
It depends on how mature you feel that you are. Personally, I can't see a problem with the game, but that is because I can separate reality from fiction (not that I am suggesting that you can't - that comment was aimed more towards those types that don't understand what games are about ...:) )
If you want my advice. Respect the wishes of your parents, however a little negotiation doesn't go amiss :). What is is specifically they don't like about your gaming? Perhaps if you know that you can then try to show them that it isn't exactly what they think it is?
i still play cod 2 lol. i really wanna play cod 4 but my parents hate m games. all im aloud to play is halo. what do you guys think ?dkdk999
Why do most parents that do not let their kids play M rated games allow Halo? It has more blood than most M rated games that I play.
Anyway, of course 14 is old enough, age has nothing to do with it. I was playing Wolfenstein 3D when I was three and Duke Nukem when I was six. Of course it's fine. The only reason people that play games should actually have for not wanting kids to play is because of their annoying voices. At 14 your voice should have changed so that shouldn't be a problem. However, I'm going to say no, while you are definetely old enough, you are not mature enough because you feel the need to ask this.
I say that because, you asking this leads me to believe that you think that if you are not old enough to play a game it might actually make you go on a killing spree. I believe that people who blame their killing sprees on video games had many problems to begin with before playing the game. You asking such a question might mean that you will go crazy after playing the game because you didn't think you were old enough to play it. I wouldn't want you going crazy after having most of us tell you it is ok to play the game. However, if you just wanted to know if your parents should let you play the game and not if you passed the random number making you old enough to play the game, then, by all means, play with my blessing.

this game doesnt even deserve a M rating theres barely any cursing and if your not going to play story mode then you have nothin to worry about
For video games to ever be accepted by the mainstream as a valid form of entertainment the age-rating system has to be tightened up. Supplying an age inappropriate game to a minor needs to be made an offence. A main part of the reason that the media gets all hyped up about video games and their effects on kids is that they know that parents let their kids play games that if they were in movie form they would never in a million years let them watch.
Respect your parents wishes and congratulate them on doing a great job.
How do they let u play halo and not call of duty. look, just tell your mom and dad that call of duty is a more about history and teamwork than violence. Its about the infantry getting the job done, not one hero or hearing about a general, its the little guy. The sort of pawns in the army, the guys with the sword and shield, the people on the infamous Frontline of battle ready to sacrifice their lives for the good of their country. and if that doesnt work then nothing will. Be sure to say God Bless America after ur speech, trust me. Like those soldiers, u should fight for what u believe in.
why are you getting Call of Duty 4 so late, I got mine in july and was piss'd to find out World at War is coming out... I'm not making the same mistake this year, i'm getting CoD5 to get on early...
skip cod4, get cod5... tell your parents you're playing the game for history class to learn about WWII
Yes, 14 is too immature for CoD 4. Especially when those particular 14 year olds don't use spelling, grammar or punctuation and like to say lol in the middle of all of their sentences.Quintiniuswow thats kind of harsh i used spelling and grammar. and i said lol once. anyway ya my parents just hate the part about cod 4 that you shoot real people where in halo you kind of shoot cyborgs i guess? anyway thanks guys ill prolly get them to let me play it. :P

Well... Besides one of the characters commiting suicide... And another character having his limbs fly off from being sniped.

And who's the boss? Who can decide what games are inappropriate for person ages and when they can play them? In my opinion, the biggest number of teenagers can play a game with headshots in it and know not to go to school with a sniper rifle and blow people's heads off. Because of a few insane incidents the media gets all worked up that it's the video game's fault, or the movie's fault. You can't blame an entertainment product for a kid's fragile state of mind. I am fifteen and have been playing M Rated games since the days of the PS1.
To the TC, COD4 is childs' play inappropriate-wise, if you can play Halo then your parents can let you play this. I believe it's rated M more for subject matter then content. ESRB doesn't believe that an young person can handle or understand the true horrors of war.

That's a good excuse I'll tell my parents that off course it won't matter with my dad he will rollover and bark like a dog to see WWII games.
Same as majority, it depends on your parents and how mature you are, some people just get that little maturity click at different times.
Im 15 (16 in a few months) and me and my parents have decided I can play M games, Ive got 15 M games, which make up the majority of my Xbox games. But I have a friend whos also 15 and a little immature and his parents wont let him touch M games!
Sucks for people who cant play M games and like action, almost every shooting game or extreme action (DMC, Ninja Gaiden, God of War) game is rated M, meaning their stuck with either getting a wii or getting an Xbox and like 2or 3 T action games!
