Are there two types of ethernet cable, because the one that come out of my modem has got a really small end...unless its not an ethernet cable,...it's definately different fromthe one that comeswith the xbox....

it's all the same ethernet cable.

is it smaller and on the back of the box is the cable connected USB? thats another way you can connect to the internet. But use Ethernet it's faster.

The cable that goes from the wall to your modem is just a standard telephone cable. The one that runs from the modem into your xbox or pc is an ethernet cable. Ethernet uses an RJ-45 connector which is larger than the RJ-11 that telephone use.

There is a USB one that goes directly to the pc, then there is a much smaller one that goes into a socket marked DSL.This smaller one then connects to a bt adsl thing, i think that is connecting it to the phone line though, so does my modem not have an ethernet socket?

on my modem it has USB and ethernet and normal telephone. You must have an ethernet slot on your modem mines yellow color maybe yours is the same. Look for a big normal telephone cable looking thing.
