Hey,

I know that there is $40 difference between the 20gb and 60gb Xbox 360 models, but besides that, it there any other advantage to the 60gb, such as later, less buggy system?

-Thanks

There's more space to install your games to have it run more quieter.

If you are buying both new from a shop the only difference is the size of the HDD.

I'm not aware of any very recent changes to the hardware, so even 20GB Pro from several months ago will be identical to a new 60GB apart from the extra 40GB

"Internet-famous modder Ben Heck just completed a teardown of the new 60GB Xbox 360. And while Microsoft is only advertising the 40GB storage bump over the old 20GB model, he found that there is one notable difference which will further prevent the old RRoD problem. And it has to do with RAM. While the system is still utilizing a 65nm CPU, Microsoft has eliminated potential heat issues by removing the memory chips residing on the underside of the motherboard. "

As you can see, it's not the same hardware exactly. Is it really better? Who knows...

I'll buy the 60GB around the holidays(for the prices) hoping the new way they placed the RAM did something good...

But instead you could buy an arcade for 200$ and buy an HDD of 20GB for 20$ right now (from microsoft). For 220$ you have a premium of 20GB, lol. But if you want all the changes to be on your side, take the last model, the 60GB, pay this 80$ more for those little 40GB more (lame), and MAYBE this version won't break. I'll do that and hope since my friend's xbox 360 all broke (I bought a ps3 1st, and never had any problems at all, it would be the perfect console without the x360's exclusives...). And anyway, on my 80GB ps3, I'm always lacking space for more videos/musics/demos/games/etc. (On the ps3, home take 3GB alone, and I have around 20 demos installed, plus 4 games installed, and since M$ added the "install your game on the console" thing, you'll surely need more space than 20GB (especially since half of those 20GB is for the xbox emulator and other stuff...). On the xbox 360, like on the majority of the ps3 games, you don'T HAVE to install games, it's an option, but an option that reduce loading time is an obligation for me, lol.

I'll take the 60GB, you? (email me your answer, lol, I'd like to know)

I've got a 20gb and have no issues.  I dl tv shows, games and demos.  Its more than enough for me.  I don't plan on installing retail games since you still need the disc in the drive and i'm never able to hear my 360 over the game that i'm playing anyways.  Half the demos and tv shows are stuff that I haven't watched or played in months but I'm too lazy to delete.

With netflix, I doubt i'll really be buying any more videos.  I've got so much stuff in my queue that I really don't feel motivated to actually purchase other stuff.

You say your 20GB is working, well, yes, there is 66% chance it'll work, but there is 33% you'll get bad hardwares, lol.

Also, you say stuff like "I have so much things i queue" and "I have tons of demos I'm too lazy to delete" but you have 20GB, it's nothing, you can't have tons of demos at all... Some demos take more than 1 GB, and you have 12GB available on the 20GB model, so you have MAXIMUM 12 demos counting that some are les that 1GB. Also, you can't have musics then...

On my 80GB PS3, I have 2GB of musics (my favorites), 4GB of videos, I'm linked to my PC to stream my other videos (AVI, Divx, Xvid, etc, everything work on the ps3), I have around 40GB of demos, 10GB of game installs, etc. 20GB is okay is you DONT plan to install a lot of stuff, but if you want to download, install, etc, take the 60GB... Or be prepared to delete often (like I said, I'm always deleting stuff on the ps3 with my 80GB).

I'll take the 60GB anyway. :D

An option on PS3? Really? LOL! Not the games I've played. In fact if I decline to preinstall on PS3 it boots me back to the XMB where if I select the game again I get asked the same question. Sorry. MOST games on PS3 MUST be installed to compensate for the Blu-ray drives low reading speeds.

My 20 gig works fine as well even with 4 to 6 hour gmaing sessions a month. I too have downloaded PLENTY of demos, TV shows and movies all of which I delete after use. Oh and let me prove you wrong again on another tidbit. You DON'T have to install your music on your 360 to access it. Quick bit of advice you can stream ALL your music saved on your comp without EVER installing it on your 360 and STILL use it in games or as background music. I have about 450 songs that I can use all from my comp and it takes ZERO space on my 360 harddrive, but while you guys muddle over 20 gigs or 60 gigs I'll upgradem ine to 120 gigs for the low low price of 40 bucks :)

The 60GB unit is basically replacing the 20GB unit, which at this point means there's no real difference other than storage space. You might get lucky and get one based on the newer revision (IIRC Jasper) if you get one with the holiday bundle of the 60gb and the Elites, but my 20GB pro was already perfectly reliable. I primarily upgraded to an Elite because I would be able to take advantage of the extra cables provided and the storage space in that model.

how reliable your 20gbs are depends when u buy them, new ones are fine. those 2 years old + are the ones that **** out on u. if u got one with hdmi on id say then ur covered as much as most new xboxes for RROD etc.

The 20GB are discontinued, now there's only is the arcade still, 60GB pro, and the elite. The only difference between those 3 are the hard drives and more backwards compatibility. They all have HDMI I believe also.

Get the 60 Gig. The only reason would be so you can install more games on the hard drive. If I could have I would have bought that one(got my new 360 right before the 60 gig came out).

You're lucky. I live in Denmark, and i've completely left the idea of buying a larger HDD when i found out that the price for the 120gb was 320$ and the 20gb was 160$!
