I'm trying to use the 360 controller with windows but the drivers aren't working.

I have the wireless one hooked up through the usb charger cord and have installed the 360 accessories and the 360 controller drivers. Add Hardware can't install it though.

My only thought of what could be wrong is I can't install microsoft common controller drivers. For whatever reason, the installation always fails.

Any Ideas?

Xbox 360 wireless controller wont work with your PC, even while plugged into a USB port. The PC may charge the controller, but thats about it. In order to use a wireless 360 controller, you need the Microsoft PC/Xbox Wireless Adapter. Its a bit flaky, but once you get it working in works great....especially on "Games For Windows" branded games.

i own the wireless adaptor^^^^^ and i have to say it works great for emulators (doent come withh mapping software so some games might not be able to use it.
