360 needs its own Super Mario Galaxy and Ratchet and Clank

When I look at this wonderful holiday line-up, there is a HUGE void on the 360. While platformers are not as PREVALENT as they used to be, good ones still have much value in a gaming library. I look at vids of SMG and R&C and I really feel like I'm missing out on something special. And, in all honesty, it doesn't need to be like this. And no, non-AAA titles like Crash of the Titans don't count. I'm talking bonifide, high profile, big platformers that are done by quality devs busting at the seems with ideas.

Yeah, I'm 33 years old and I don't view these as kids games unless that's truly who they are designed for exclusively (you know, the stupid easy games). No, I'm talking all ages or teen games that just have that universal appeal like the aforementioned titles being released on competing systems. We've played these games for years and enjoyed them and can still enjoy them as older hardcore gamers.

So will MS step up to the plate and deliver (and yes, I know Banjo is coming, but I'm talking about more than ONE game)?

Halo is not a platformer. It's just one of the dozens of shooters already on the 360 (albeit a good one). I really agree with the TC, I love platformers, and it would be nice to see some more (or any) quality platformers on the 360!

Microsoft hasn't really been focusing on platformers. Of course the only company they own that would make a platformer is Rare and they are already doing that.

All i can say is that i am happy to see an Xbox console get more RPGs and really JRPGs. SO right now i am going to say they are working at these things one step at a time.

The topic creator wants more platformers, but several people here are simply saying, "Halo's out". WTF does that have to do with wanting a platformer? I'm amazed at the one sided thinking of many gamers today, thinking that Halo is the be-all-end-all for all of us.

Back on topic, I would like some great new platformers as well. I will be getting Ratchet for the PS3 later this month, but it's really a dying genre. Most developers have given up on platformers, and it's a shame. With today's technology and some great creative thinking, the platform genre could be brought back. Maybe soon, we'll see some.

I know that the 360 is the best console when it comes to games by far but that doesn't mean it should be the undesputed best in every genre. Besides a lot of the games that are offically in the action genre (like kameo) play quite a bit like platformers. I think that the action genre kind of ate it up :P

also we will hopefully see a new conker on the 360, and yes banjo will be on the way with all the hints Rare kept dropping the past year.

I LOVE platformers and it is a shame that todays developers don't utilize the technology available to make the best of the platform genre.

Rathchet and Clank looks like an awesome game and I cant wait to play it. Why dont you just buy a PS3?

Some of you are a bit confused as to what a 'platform game' is, despite the examples. This wiki is actually pretty good (though long) at discussing the genre and its peak and current valley.

Though I play a TON of different genres with love for much of them, platformers have always been among my most definitive gaming experiences, even recently (Psychonauts, for one).

What's with the R&C hate? Sure, Sony's messed up a lot of things with the PS3 and I sure don't own one, but one thing they DEFINITELY got right was Putting a new R&C game on it within the first year. As a multiplatform gamer last gen (when it was affordable), the R&C series epitomized the evolution of the platformer. Sure, it got away from such elements with the later games, but it stands above and beyond as the best example of the genre last gen.

As I am curious about Banjo (hadn't played the previous ones), I'm not talking about just coming out with sequels. The platformer could use a new, exciting approach that is a tribute to the genre and another step in the evolution of it. Something that will capture the attention of younger gamers with its concept and interaction but stimulate the hardcore with its elevating complexity and ingenuity. Insomniac pulled it off last gen and is continuing it again. Where are the other developers that are up to the challenge???

To be honest, Microsoft NEEDS such titles in-force on the 360 if it plans on expanding its audience and not wearing gamers out with too many shooters and M-rated fare. They already HAVE that audience and there is actually TOO MUCH software aimed at them (I'd love to play Orange Box, but Halo 3 is filling that need plenty right now) to the point where its counterproductive.

two things: halo is not the best game ever, far from it, stop pretending that's the only game you'll ever need. if you don't know what a platformer is, don't pretend you do. gears of war, god of war, and all those are NOT platformers. back on topic: i want mario on the 360!ctfvyrsgurbnorn

god of war is a platformer going from place to place it's kinda like jak but bloodier and no guns

I am greatly looking foward to "Banjo Kazooie 3" next year!!!

Also, I loved playing "Kameo: Elements of Power" really hoping for a sequel. And then there also is the new Conker.
And there are also going to be many other platformers that will be multiplatform anyway.

Anyway, I am mainly interested in the new Banjo-Kazooie!
