The Mars Volta? They've won Grammys, and The Velvet Underground are one of the most influential band of the 20th century. Maybe you just like crappy music.

Mainstream? The Mars Volta? Ha! That's a joke. And the Velvet Underground are just that, the best Underground band ever. They sold maybe 1K albums in their time and are simply the best unheard of band. Maybe you should actually look up these bands before you start throwing around clear ignorant statements about them.

if they have won grammys, they are mainstream
and the velvet underground is NOT underground if a crap-load of people have heard of them, and listen to them...

You've never even heard of these two groups before I stated them here. I want you to go find me a radio station that plays Mars Volta tracks, or the Velvet Underground tracks. A crap load of people haven't heard of these groups, they're good because they are influential, and they are recognized in the music industry for their talent and influence. You can't state opinions and expect them to be more respectable than facts. And what I'm stating are facts, not ignorant opinions based on simply a name.

first, mars volta=trash in my OPINION
second, i HAVE listened to VU...and i dont deem them influential
third, because other people say they are/were influential, does not make them influential...music is not based on facts, its based on tastes and opinions...the only factual info for music comes in the form of album sales, which is also opinion based, same with EVErYTHING regarding the music industry
o, and on a legit, facts based note: the music industry is dying because of me, and i dont really care in the least lol

You have every right to dislike a band, genre, or song in music. And that's the beauty behind it, its purely based on taste. But what you can't do is completely disrespect a band which most likely influenced one or more bands that you listen to. Just because you weren't influenced by the band directly doesn't meant that you weren't influenced by them. Music is but a mixture of sounds that the artist was moved by and tried to remake in their own signature.
There is no opinion behind the fact that The Velvet Underground influenced music, there's no opinion behind the fact that The Mars Volta is one of the most influential groups of our time, there is just the simple fact that in the future (And in the past in terms with The Velvet Underground) countless artiest, bands, and anything in between will listen to them and be moved by them.
I don't care if you steal music or buy it, but the second you insult it is the second you insult yourself and your own mankind. We are nothing but the art and culture that we have created.

Well, I could careless if you won't recant your previous statement, this argument was over five minutes ago. Whether of not you want to accept the fact that you were wrong or not could matter less to me right now. Thanks for trying though. In the end, facts can't be overruled by opinions. You sure did give it a good try.
I like music when I can pick it
When other people pick it ehh, not so much lol
I watched George Michael's latest concert and loved every minute, now if someone doesn't like George Michael I only have one thing to say
Boy, I'd hate to be your ears

My mother is a huge fan. Its basically the soundtrack to my childhood. This is my favorite song.
lets try to not turn this thread into a flame war people at my job use to make jokes and insult me because of my different tastes in music. they talk as if the music they listen to was the "right type" of music while the stuff i like was just crap. Damian, you shouldn't get to offended if somebody doesn't like the same type of music as you do.lawlessx
Oh, I could careless if he doesn't like it, but once he's insulted it he has insulted me. There isn't a lot that really gets to me and makes me want to argue, but when someone tells me that one of my favorite bands is trash I instantly pull out the flamethrower.

IMO(damn, this saying used to be relevent at one point, if i recall), Lil' Wayne is garbage...his first two albums were good, but his last few have sucked so bad that i dont even want to hear that auto-tuned voice of his ever again
tho i do agree with u about Cudi...tho the reg version of Day n Nite was always the bigger hit where im from
and Shining Down is one of the best songs Lupe has ever recorded, and ive heard almost every one....the man is a lyrical genius

hip-hop saved my life is still my favourite song of his, something about it, flows so well with a good beat. Awesome song in an awesome album, The Cool is one of my favourite albums of all timeI'll be getting AC2 for Christmas (part of the reason why I started playing it). I liked the game. The stealth elements were pretty cool. I've heard of some of the new ways to assassinate people in the next one and I have to say I'm excited to try them out. I got tired of so many high points and citizen rescues I had to do though. The most annoying part was all the informer assinations near the last half of the game. I wanted some more of the flag collecting, but it just kept giving me stealth assassinations. Over all an awesome game. Kcdragon8116Yes, I didn't hype ACI and I loved it, so much so that I also got ACII but it's for Xmas :)
