I recently got a new hdtv. I firstly had my 360 hooked up with the vga lead. Now  I have it through the component. With the component i get 1080i, but not 1080p, because the component cable cannot transmit 1080p. I hear people saying "oh my vga cable can do 1080p", is this true? From what i have heard a vga cable can only support up to 720p.

The component cable will soon not be able to transmit hddvds either, because of security, so i think im stuck.....

Does anyone have any more info on this.

thanks Paul

Yes the VGA cable will do 1080P and some people have said they notice a difference using the VGA as opposed to the component cables. As my TV only does 720P, I'm perfectly happy with the component.

The 360 can transmit 1080p over VGA and component.

VGA is sharper, but component has better colors.

Yeh this is true, the only way the 360 can transmit a secure signal is through vga. But im gona stick with the component just now. The only thing is, on the back of the vga box, it says it can transmit up to 720p, unless this is just a uk thing, which i doubt, all these guys with vga cables are seeing 720p, all be it quite hard to notice.

Theres nothing secure about VGA... it's just that most TV's don't accept 1080p over component because copy right laws prevent movie players from outputting a 1080p component signal. This doesn't apply to games or VGA, so have at it. And the box probably still says 720p because 1080p was an UPDATE, but on XBox.com the VGA adapter specifically says 1080p.

1920x1080 is an option for resolutions using the VGA cable, so it must do 1080p.
