I was playing then the 360 turned off. I turned it back on, then 4 red light turned on. I've heard people say 3 red lights, but there was 4 because the whole ring was red. But then I turned it back on and played a game and it was fine. But the main reason I posted it because my 360 my been making a grinding noise for almost a week now. It is exremely annoying and loud. But when I take out the disc, it is perfectly fine - no scratches at all. Can someone please tell me whats going on. I do have the year warranty at Gamestop. Also, if I do happen to return it, can I keep my harddrive?

4 Red Lights means that your Component/Composite cables aren't plugged into the back of the 360. XD

Oh ya that might be right because it was unpluged right before I turned it on. But can you explain the "grinding" sound?

make sure the intake vents are clean.  sounds like the fan blades are probably hitting debris.

Probably the disc drive, mine grinded yesterday because I opened it then pushed it close rather than push the button and let it close like its supposed too.

Ok, I listened carefully while a disc was in and it sounds like its coming from the disc tray.
