IMO the biggest improvement about the Falcon board is not the smaller CPU but the new heatsinks for both the CPU and GPU the clamp system has been improved to keep them on the board. The console does use about 30% less power and stays cooler.

The picture is of my console as I'm JWSpeed on xbox.com.

The gpu is still 90nm though right? If they reduce that to 45 all problems can be gone, this is an amazing start.

I don't think there would be any problems with both CPU and GPU at 90 with this clamp system.

So youre saying that the gpu has the 65NM to??? cause most of the ROD problems were because of the gpu getting heat

The smaller CPU will help, but it may not alleviate the issue since the RRoD issue is caused by the GPU overheating. Sure, it will reduce overall system temperature, but only time will tell if that will be enough. Then again, I have yet to have the issue since I've had the 360... and if I did, I would probably just use the X-Clamp.

I would say no urs does not use the falcon chip, because they said all 360's manufactured after 8/24/2007 or lot number 0734 and higher are the 360's with the new Falcon chips in them

That's good to know. I already have an Xbox 360 Elite pre-ordered, which I'm going to trade with my Premium. Good timing that they're releasing the new chip. Now I'm just waiting for a call to hear that they've got one in stock for me.

Check the new game informer. mirco soft said they are not going to put the 65nm chip in any xbox 360.they are sticking to the 90nm chip. so the falcon is not released. and it will not be until microsoft fells the time is right . with a 30 percent chance you will get the red eye of death l think they should put the 65nm in it to maybe help out on the heat issues and the red eye issues.

Pleasure to meet you JWSpeed. It takes GUTS to open up a system like that! Kudos! Tell me, do you think that the Holiday bundles will have the Falcon chip? If so, I'm sold. That's hard for me say seeing as I've been a Sony fan since inception. Well, what do you think? GB

Wait - so there AREN'T making Falcon 360s?

Then why are people popping open their consoles and finding new hardware?

Gamespot needs to get some official word from Microsoft, because I'm not wasting my money on the same, old defective Hardware.

The GPU is not in 65 nm but the heatsinks on th gpu are improved, this will also help with cooling the system, also like he said th clamp has been improved.. so this will helo the board when it comes to warping and the soldering on the cpu and gpu from coming awau from the board

It has been confirmed by many hardware guru's that the new cpus are indeed 65 nm, its not very hard to tell the diff from 90 to 65 with just a few measurements.. there are a few halo 360's with the new 65 nm, depending on ur lot. i was lot #725 but i somwhow have the newheat sink, and it was first belived it was only in the 360s from lot #734.. The word is all over the place rigfht now. its a matter of time before we start seeing hardware reviews on you tube of ppl taking their 360'apart and finding the new hardware. i suggest semiconductor as a sourse. they do tear downs of new consoles and u know they'll do one for the halo edition 360

I am confirming new heatsinks in premium models. Mine was made 24/7/2007. Did the flashlight check. Possitive it is in there. thought, it seems to be running hot. A lot of warm air comes out of the back. though, it could still be less tha nthe old ones.
