Now, its not embarassing to cry or cheer at the movies, or get emotional at books, but with games, its some kind of taboo. Good storytelling should have the same effect, no matter what media it is presented through? I wanted to know how many people got really into the emotion of certain games story.
For example, at the end of Star Wars: Republic Commando, when Sev dies, I thought that was a really powerful moment, as the game had really built up those characters, and it was very moving. And just after that, when the invasion force arrived, it clicked as great storytelling.
Mass Effect was another one, I was shocked when certain members of my team were killed off, and the decision between ashley and kaiden was a powerful one, I stood looking over the edge for ages deciding what to do. Also, the end of that game had me truly cheering on the good guys during that epic fight, andfinding out shepard is alive is a great moment, even if cliched.
Anyone else found storytelling so good sometimes that they got REALLY involved?
