Assassins Creed 2.chilly-chillI totally forgot about that one. To me, it seemed like they watered down Assassin's Creed for the action game crowd. While in some cases that may have been true, it was still ten times the game I expected it to be- actionwise, mechanicswise, and especially storywise.
[QUOTE="BiThBhE0"]I guess I'll say Borderlands. I really didn't see what was so great about it so I didn't pick it up when it came out even though all my friends did. It was probably a year later when I found it for $20. At first it didn't do much for me, but after leveling up and finding some pretty cool weapons, I started to enjoy it. I still don't think the story is anything great but still had some fun with it.SkinnyJeans1995Borderlands is one of my favorite current gen games and was my 2nd favorite game of 2009 Borderlands might be one of the best games I've played ever. Just so much fun. Borderlands 2 is gonna be great! Another game I'm throwing out there. The fable series is a game I thought would be horrible. Really is fun and amusing!
Prince of Persia because I needed a new game and I liked the cel-shaded look... ended up loving it!
Also Far Cry 2. I rarely play FPS, but I was in the mood for one and somehow ended up with FC2... and loved it!
Makes me wonder how many really awesome games are out there that I have no that I'm missing :(
Oh, and one more really stands out... Ridge Racer V! I don't like racing games, but I was in Japan when the PS2 launched, so I picked it up because I needed a game to play. It ended up being one of my all-time favorite games, and I've been a big Ridge Racer fan ever since.
Final Fantasy series( i played x, x-2, xii, xiii, and xiii-2) i had always bad mouthed this series saying how horrible they were never giving them a try or a chance, but someone finally got me to try Final Fantasy 13 and i loved it so i ended up playing part 2 and then going back a bit in the series to others i had missed out loved every single one i played. i feel lucky i gave these games a chance because i love them so much now.
fable 2- was browsing through the games and just came across it, didnt really think i was going to like it all that much but ended up playing it like crazy and loving it, and then playing the 3rd as well
Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, I tried Oblivion 3 separate times and couldn't get into it. IMO it had several flaws which they figured out, and got right in ES5: Skyrim (My GotY 2011, although Gears 3 and Dark Souls are right there with it).
Red Red Redemption, had zero interest in playing it then barrowed it like 6 months after it came out and got addicted, got it to like 97% complete before i gave up and moved on to newer games.
Most recently, Torchlight but I can't say any good sleeper hits for me at the moment but im sure there is more
Ahh the game I never thought I'd like as much as i Did is the first Mass Effect...now the trilogy is my favorite videogame trilogy of all time.
