I love the idea because it adds replayability to many games that normally would have very little replayability.abdelmessih101
I agree, it adds to the replay factor (I jus started my second run thru of GTA4 so that I could get "One man army" and "Liberty City minute" achievements)...also (atleast for competetive gamers---with friends who have the same games) it provides a basis for competing with friends to see who can complete more achievements/ complete them all 1st
honestly, i could really care less about them, but i guess it was a smart move on microsoft's side. people tend to get a 360 sometimes because of achievementsabe491it makes you look at the game differently sometimes when your trying to achieve a certain thing.
Its a marketing ploy by microsoft but a very good one at that. Its just a fun rewarding system that allows for some replay value and you have to admit when achievement unlocked flashes up and you hear that sound you are somewhat happy with yourself.blade1205
i know what you mean :D
do a trick, get a cookie
we all for for this, well done MS - you got us again.
Some how, on some level we think that our score makes us "better" so we wanna increase it.
I use to like them and go for them but after awhile i realized that i was doing all that hard work for basically nothing.
I know this probably wouldn't work out well but i think somehow M$ should makie it so when you get a certain score, lets say every 10,000 you get a free arcade game or something. That way people will buy games for easy gs, so technically M$ would be making more money and everyone would be happy.

I agree too.
I don't really care that much about them, unless I decide to go and play the game again just to unlock a few in the race against my brother for the next 1000 in our gamerscore.
I like them, and the feeling that you get when you unlock a difficult achievement. There are some that are stupidly easy (Simpsons - Press START, GTAIV - off the boat, and the whole of Avatar), but others like completing campaigns on the hardest difficulty, kill streaks online, beating online leaderboards etc are much harder and more satisfying to get.
It adds replay value to some games, and extends the playing experience for others. After you complete the single player story there often isn't much reason to play it again, but achievements provide this, and mean you can enjoy the game for longer - getting better value for money from it. The game hasn't changed in any way, but it has entertained you for longer, at no extra cost. Plus you can compare how you've done in different games with friends
