SR was fun, but it definitely was not at the quality of even the GTA games of last generation. its story was lame, and the overuse of famous actors to do the voice acting made the game feel cheesy. the biggest things that SR got right (and did better than GTA IV) was using free aim for the shooting gameplay mechanic (which i think is in GTA IV, according to the 1up podcast) and those pathways that you can see on your maps (very unique idea that i hope GTA IV will have).
as far as graphics go... SR has a sharp look to it, but that was because the game had a cartoony style with its graphics. it had a plain, simple, and sharp look. GTA IV is way, way, way more detailed in its graphics... although it does have a little bit of a blurry look to it. but i think the amount of sharp detail you see throughout the game (i like how in one part of the video where you see Nico breaks through the door, you see the damage that the door has received) definitely makes up for it.
and don't forget... unlike SR where you can go into some buildings, but the indoor areas would be very small and have little content in them, GTA IV is said to have fully loaded building that you can explore throughout the city. talk about detail!
