Hello i just purchased Alan Wake and so far its very cool and fun but is there any replay value? Is there any unlockables, new clothes, weapons, or anything? And BTW i dont plan on purchaseing any DLC. The game is Is fun and all but i just dont see me going back to playing it again unless it has unlockables like for example. Uncharted 2 had tons of skins and Weapons, filters, and wacky cheats and stuff.

[UPDATE]

Maybe im judgeing to early. Does the story/action pick up later in the game? seems kinda slow so far just point A to Point B type stuff.

I got the game because i was bored one day and bought it out of impulse. its a great game don't get me wrong graphics are some of the best ive seen on the 360 and the story is very interesting and dark reminds me of silent hill lol . Anyway I was thinking about just beating it get some achivements on the way lol and returning it back to game stop since i got it used. can anyone give me any insight on their experiences on this game? please and thank you.

I wouldn't Keep it, I bought the Game from EB Games, played as much as I could and then returned it haha! Its a great game, but yeah no replay at all unless your a person who wants to play it on harder difficulties every time, and collect everything. I was the same, I was bored, and decided to give it a shot, but yeah not worth keeping (:

One of the dullest games I have ever played. I played it, put it back in the box and never looked at it again.

I'm personally a big horror aficionado and when I say horror I don't mean mindless gore. I like a good story, great writing and a lot of psychological tension. Alan Wake had none of these. It didn't help that they used Stephen King as a basis, the man is a horrible writer and I truly can't fathom why people buy this guys book. I found the story clichéd, maybe not in a gaming context but definitely when it comes to the horror subgenre. This whole "writer becoming his own protagonist" as a method of inducing a meta-fictive aspect in the narrative was fun in the seventies but it had already gotten old by the mid eighties. Another thing that really annoyed me were the snippets of Allans own writing that you found in the game. If Alan was such a great writer why were these so poorly written?

I could keep on going about why I dislike this game, but it would be a wall of text and I have already written a blog about it, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only that didn't fall for the very cheap thrill that is Alan Wake.

I personally felt after episode 3, the game really takes off and makes itself stand out amongst great games. There isn't much replay value except getting all the achievements, the coffee thermoses and the Script

It is an amazing game; and in my opinion, has replay value... over time. I would suggest returning it and getting it off amazon. You can get it for about $23 there.

I just finished Alan Wake and enjoyed it. When that dark wind starts coming my 4 year old will yell 'run ma, run!', and then I'm still looking around for manuscripts and he'll jump up and down, run, ma run! Still, I missed a few...I'll definitely pick it up sometime later and replay the chapters to try find all the manuscripts, thermoses and pyramid cans.

I was actually busy with Silent Hill Homecoming - of wich I was a fan since PS1 and PS2, but found Homecoming boring...so picked up Alan Wake.

Alan Wake is always "go from point A to point B", still it's my GOTY with Bayonetta.
