Am I the only one who doesn't take advantage of gold anymore?

When I first got XBL, the first thing I thout of was getting GOLD!!! But now I feel I'm only playing single player games. Once I get tired of playing single player stuff, I'll sit there and look at my Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 2 cases and just decide to go to sleep instead. I love playing online, but I've just been focusing on single player stuff rather than running and gunning on XBL. I've rarely played any multiplayer. I just feel my gold membership is going to waste. I guess I'm just saying I'll stay silver for awhile. Anyone else fel like this, too?

thats cuz online MP is just a repetition of the same task over and over again...thus it is inherently flawed

I only play one person every month or so online, besides that I just use Live for all the other perks like the sales and early demos

For 20 bucks a year Live is pretty much an insignificant expense

I try playing online games with friends so it makes they game much more fun.

I know how you feel. There will be weeks where I end up not using any of the gold features. There was one point where I didn't even use my 360 for like 8 months straight (work & school) basically wasting my whole year subscription. In fact I havent been using it for 3 weeks until I recently started playing the Battlefield demo.

I'm not a big fan of xbox live i prefer single player games.

I have never been a big fan of multiplayer games. I don't even have xbox live. In my view, it's just so much nicer to sit and play through a good story by yourself, and immerse yourself in a game, rather than do the same thing over and over again and expect the fact that the picture you killed was controlled by a human being to make up for the lack of purpose.

I pretend to like MP games because my friends do...I'm to the point were I have to lie and say my subscription is finished just so I don't have go online everyday, I'd rather just play a great long SP and use XBOX LIVE for DLC and party chat. Don't get me wrong though, I do enjoy playing COD and BF games alot...just not everyday.

I go through phases where I tire of the 'competitiveness' of online multiplayer.

But playing single-player for a long periods of time also makes me miss online multiplayer, so I always come back eventually.

Basically, I like having the option to play the sort of game I want to when I feel like it. Not having Gold would make me feel very limited in what I can and cant do with my gaming library.

im quite new to xbox live so i still love it. but i switch between games like AC2 and mass effect 2 with mw2 or halo 3. it keeps a certain balance making me always unsure of what to play coz i wanna play everything :)

That's the way I feel TC. The last good online game I played was Halo 3, and yet, Im bored with it, since I played it for 2 years (nonstop). I been playing great single player games like SVR 2010 or Mass Effect 2, they seem more funner then online gaming these days. I love to play Modern Warfare 2, but It gets old like nuts. The reason why I still have a Gold Membership is because of DLC and the addition to talk to Friends on Party Chat. Other then that, I could handle it without Gold.

I recently moved my xbox. It's no longer even online.

I only play single player. If I want to play multiplayer it's on the PC. That's about once a year.

Indeed im with you on there, the only game i still play constantly online is MvC2 and even then i just play it like 2hours a week , no more

i got to be able to download my favorite DLC and the free ones while i talk to a buddy whos playing MW2 while i play forza 2

I can see where you're coming from TC. I used to play TONS of Gears of War and Call of Duty 4 online. but over the last year I've just been playing less and less and less. good online only keeps my occupied for a month tops these days. (was good and done with MW2 online in a month. same with ODST). I'd much rather play some good SP game like Mass Effect. although AvP will keep my on gold for a little while longer.

im not much of a multiplayer person, but without Gold LIVE, a big chunk of my gaming/capabilities would be hindered. I've been playing dragon age alot since xmas, but i still party up with my cousin who lives 12 hours away, so we talk (obviously phones can do this too, but minutes, and convenience play into xbl being a better resource). Also, i love DLC (particularly new car and song packs in forza/rockband) not to mention i am a VIP in forza so i get gifted cars a few times a month. also Left 4 dead wouldnt be as fun and i wouldnt touch halo ever again (instead of picking it up and playing online once in a while).

Where are you getting live for 20$? Cheapest I have found was 30$.

I enjoy having XBL because the cost doesn't bother me and I enjoy having the option of being able to play online whenever I want.

On-topic: Same as craigalan, cost doesnt bother me and i get to play online whenever i feel like it.

I only use it to talk to my friends and sometimes I will play coop with them. But I would rather have a good story then anything right now. For me mp is not fun unless you have at least one friend with you.

im hoping a couple of my friends will get some ps3.. so then i dont have to play xbox all the time. then i could start focusing on single playersgames and stuff.

I agree, I very rarely play multiplayer games online. I've always prefered single player campaigns. However, I'm always connected to Gold. This is mainly because I like just feeling 'connected'. I like sigining in and seeing my friends online and be able to party chat. Also, having demos early and the sales that appear on the marketplace make it worth it.

Same here. Everything gets repetitive eventually so you might as well mix things up, so it gets less repetitive.

yeah its very hard for me to feel like its a waste especially since im only spending 20 or 30 buks to renew it each year. I do a good bit of gaming offline but o guess the majority is online.
