I bought it when it first came out. I heard it was pretty amazing from some kids at school. I played it, it was fun in the beginning, then got a little old with the gameplay. I didnt touch it for a month or two, then I played it and realized I was right at the end and finished it. I later sold it and bought something else. It was an "ok" game, I just found the gameplay to be a little to repetitive and some of the times when you are on the turret just seems boring. I did enjoy killing that huge boss without any special weapons, that was very fun, but thats about it.

I love Gears, so no I don't think it is over-rated. I also love Halo, so I don't think it is over-rated.

Gears of War was the first game I've played on a 360, and I was pretty amazed. I agree that I beat the game on Casual for too quickly. I am working on Insane now, currently in Act 4. I think the story was ok, and all tied together well with the cinematics. The controls are fine, I didn't have any problems learning them, and using them efficiently. I haven't really tried the multiplayer except on one ocassion. No biggie, I didn't care about it anyways. I don't think it's over-rated though. I think it's been given its' due credit. As far as the game appealing to a certain demographic, as someone else suggested. I'll have to disagree with them. I have twin girls, 6 yrs old, and they LOVE Gears of War. They are on Act 2, Casual.-F34R-

I hope the last part you said was a joke

i liked it a lot....but it just lacked innovation...but what it did do was add some new weapons no one ever thought of, and not only that but it perfected the cover mechanic which up until gears, has been horrendous.

It's extremely overrated. I thought most people knew this by now. People who think it's all that have to be in denial. It's a rental at best. Game is extremely short. Multiplayer lacks. It's extremely generic, and lacks any innovations.

I personally feel Gears of War is one of the only true "next gen" games out there and throughly enjoyed every minute of the game. Yes its over the top with blood and testosterone, but i would not have it any other way.

I liked it, but I got bored with it pretty quickly. It may be overrated, but it's still one hell of a game while it lasts.

I think its a great game that looked really good but I do think people exaggerate the looks a bit too much.

it's a great game but isn't without it's problems. some days MP is great and other days it borders on being broken. There's metric tons of glitches and bugs in the game that probably could've been worked out if they hadn'trushed torelease it for the holiday 2006 season.
