My 3rd 360 has just died, cause of death: red ring of death, age of 360: 4-5 months old. But I'm lucky because I live in Sydney Australia which also is where the MS repair centre is. Also a friend of mine had his 360 red ring him awhile ago so he centre to MS and got it back the next day in working order and has not died since. The repair centre in Australia is really good :D so the red ring problem is not that big of deal to me but for a few of my friends in the US and Canada i hear there repair centres are not very good in terms of service and the speed in which they get your console back to you. I had one friend from Canada whose 360 died so he sent it to MS repair shop and gotta back nearly 2 months later.

So tell me how the service is in your area? And do you think they need to lift there game?

My launch 360 died and I received a replacement with 1 week. That's good for the U.S. but since I live 1/2 an hour from the main MS campus it would have been nice to just go swap it. And yes I know that's not where the consoles are physically at - but it still would have been nice. :)

Anyway - sold the replacement and a few other 360's I've had since then for more than I paid for them.

Currently have an Elite Falcon and couldn't be happier.

Just FYI my first PS3 was DOA out of the box too - so I always like to point out that no console is without it's occassional issues.

:)

I just got mine repaired last week from a RROD. How do I know it's got a Falcon chip in it? Is that something they tend to put in during repairs. It gets me frustrated to know they fixed it, but don't explain how. A little feedback would be nice.

Sometimes they do. If you got a new 175w power supply with it then it's a Falcon for sure. Otherwise you have to pretty much crack open the case to tell for sure. There are some less sure ways of predicting the possibility - just google "Xbox 360 Falcon identification" and you will get a whole slew of suggestions.

Ya my launch console finally died about 2 years after I purchased it. I sent it out and got it back in exactly 2 weeks. Microsoft for the most part has great customer support/speedy service (Atleast from my experience).

The only way you will get a Falcon console back from repair is if you sent in a falcon console. The falcon board will not fit a console without HDMI. They are working on a new board but I haven't hear of anyone receiving one yet.

MS does at times send a completely new "replacement" console back instead of repairing th original one sent in.

Good point rrjim1.

My ELITE broke down two weeks ago. It wasn't the RROD but a "hardware malfunction" quotes the xbox people. I mean, I paid $480 for something like this to NOT happen. Ya so I'm waiting for them to ship a new one and will miss the new Halo 3 map pack and maybe GTA 4.
