Halo 3 Legendary Edition must have come with a time machine, because you are certainly a blast from the past.
Really because I was just going through some old threads and there were some asking this question and no one said this and so I decided it was time for people to figure it out.
And the crashed frigate at the end of reach (You should have already finished it :/) show's he is alive... When it show's the helmet, behind it to the right is a crashed frigate (Half of one) and that was what master chief was on... Also at the end of Halo 3 Legendary Ending, it shows he is alive, but also a planet behind him - Which is shown in the EXACT same perspective as the original Halo Reach premiere trailer showed reach... So in short, Master Chief is alive, and probably gonna be in the next game, which I'm guessing will come out next year, made by microsoft 343 or whatever its called (Think about it, they already have the game engine and mechanics)

Obviously not then... The actual ending when your character dies, and after the helmet has stayed there for ages... It mentions the downfall of the covenant... After lone wolfAnd the crashed frigate at the end of reach (You should have already finished it :/) show's he is alive... the events of halo1-3 take place within a very short time. the covenant are brought down AFTER reach, DURING the halo trilogy, and Reach is resettled AFTER the downfall of the covenant.

The Very end of Reach is set about 20 Years after Halo 3 (2570 ish)
The Rest Takes Place right before Halo 1 Starts, Hence Cortana given to Captain Keyes, Masterchief before he's awaken and the fact that they only Find the first Halo before lone wolf starts.

Obviously not then... The actual ending when your character dies, and after the helmet has stayed there for ages... It mentions the downfall of the covenant... After lone wolfyes because they are explaining that the war ends fairly soon with referance to the end of halo 3 meaning that halo ce halo 2 and halo 3 are only set weeks apart. in fact halo 3 picks up directly after 2 with the chief landing after diving of the ship at the end of 2. Reach is a prequel thats an obvious fact the story is not hard to follow Reach ends EXACTLY how Holo ce starts. Actually wtf im i doing trying to explain the obvious Im bewildered that some of you are finding it that difficult. Can I just say PAY ATTENTION and GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHTif you want to talk about something and more so if you have actually played all the games.

This is a major spoiler btw... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nxv2Uo1Y3U Watch it, after 6 minutes shows the aftermath of the battle, with your character's helmet with a bullet hole... Then once reach has grass on it - This is after the events of halo 3, WITH HALF A CRASHED FRIGATE BEHIND IT - WHAT MASTER CHIEF WAS IN!!!!! I know my Halo games... :P Then a ship to the left of the screen, which is populated - Near the crash site - Probably where master chief ends up :L So... Ha[QUOTE="kungfool69"]

He's saying this: At the end of Reach, you see your helmet on the glassed planet Reach. Then it hummmmmm fast forwards into the future and Reach is grassy and lush again. There is a crashed ship on the right and a populated frigate on the left. He's saying this (the grassy Reach scene) takes place after the events of Halo 3.Entitled to my opinion is my sig. I simply reposted what the other guy said because he had it right and yet no one was listening. When you play the game these are the events before halo:combat evolved or 'halo 1'. After the grass is covering the helmet it obviously has gone forward in time to after halo 3 to show what has happened. Discussion over!
