It comes pre-loaded with lots of songs and videos you can delete to free up more room, but you'll never get all 20gigs.Sam_Lowery
I heard about that, but when I look at my memory there's no sign of any pre-loaded stuff except the few pictures that you get to choose from at the start.
the only thing that annoys me is the price of the standalone 120gb hdd. i still have 11.8gb left but i'm sure it'll fill up soon because of the growing amount of dlc available for games. i guess i'll delete the videos/songs/hexic to free up space if i need it badly enough.
Hello all, have just got my premium XBOX360 and I love it. One of the major selling points of the premium over the core is that it comes with a 20G hard drive. I was shocked (slightly discusted) to discover that 7Gs of this hard drive space is reserved for system info and only 13Gs is accessible by the user. This also made me wonder where this 7Gs of system info is stored on the core system? Does anyone else feel cheated?fesboy82Just delete the unwanted material. I still have 11 gigs.
I deleted some of the pre-installed stuff on it and I have nearly 17GB's of free space. It's more then enough.FearlessSpiritThat's impossible since 4GB of the hard drive is reserved for swap space. Plus 1GB for the operating system. And 20GB in microsoft lingo actually means 20 billion bytes (20,000,000,000 bytes) which only equals 18.6GB to begin with... After I deleted everything I had around 14GB left...

First, its really only about 18.9gb to start with. This is common to all HDD as they say a certain size and are always a bit smaller. Second, a lot of harddrive space is reserved for the cache which helps with load times, so a premium should load faster than a core once you've played a game a bit. Third, some of the space is reserved for emulators and all that. Don't feel cheated. 13 gigs is plenty of space to do practically whatever you need to do.
Have you ever bought a PC hard drive? It's NEVER the size it says on the box because there's other information that needs to be stored on there.
In addition to this, the hard drive includes a bunch of pre-loaded audio and video garbage (removable via the Memory menu in the System panel), the BC emulation software, and other system-related items.
