Dont take my word 100% on this but I'm pretty sure it will allow you to download HD movies. I dont see why not.

Probably, U can already download movies in HD on 360, don't see why NETFLIX would be any different.

I have the Roku Netflix Player which does what the 360 will be able to. It has HDMI and component outputs, but Netflix currently does not offer any HD content for streaming. Netflix said that HD is in the future, but they give no time frame. So, it could be next year or in 5 years.

Also, people need to realize that you can't stream everything Netflix offers on disk. There are good movies, but they are mostly old movies. This does not replace still getting disks from Netflix. Most people will be disappointed when they first see what content is offered.

According to Engadget Netflix will stream in about SD-resolution for now. As Netflix transitions to HD, Microsoft said it stands to reason that streaming HD to the Xbox should be feasible.

yes this is TOO right...many people are confused to the point where they think they are getting an infinite amount of good, new movies at like 6 bucks a month...like about half of the movies star Steven Seagal(spelling?)

But you get access to all of the seasons of Charles in Charge! If that's not worth $6/month I don't know what is...

Seriously though, there are a few gems in the Watch Now section, like Heroes episodes, or The Office, but 90% of it is old stuff. And even that has problems...like Quantum Leap. Most of the episodes are available except for the pilot. Which is great if you already know what happens, but stinks if you don't.

Most of the movies are junk as well. I think they just took all the movies that weren't being rented and put them online to save them the postage of mailing them out.

It's not enough to get me to purchase the Gold plan from XBOX to watch it.

This. Sure enough, this is the answer to the HD 'problem' of not having Blue-ray on the X360. And to be honest, this is a lot easier to find that Blue-Ray discs (at least for rentals) around where I live.

Not this guy. I've had Netflix for a while now and I have a ton of movies in my queue that I can watch instantly. It just sucks that it's not going to be available until fall.

afraid not buddy, the netflix films were referred to as *near DVD quality*. since they stream directly, HD movies wud be too large in size. we never needed blu-ray to begin with anyway, wat the hell's wrong with dvds? watch the same movie in blu ray and dvd, then see if u give a rats about the difference.

When I got my Roku, I had 2 movies in my queue with the play now button. One of them I had specifically because it had just come out on Blu-ray. So, I went through the Watch Now section and added like 60 things to my instant queue. So, I have a ton of stuff, but none of it was stuff I was interested enough in to put in my main queue.

I've watched a few 80s TV shows I remember from my youth. I also watched a 6 episode documentary on Auschwitz. I also watched a few movies like Arthur, Superman 3 and The 10. All stuff that I wasn't too eager to see.

The quality all depends on your internet connection. Whenever you start a movie, it does a bandwidth check. If your download speeds are fast enough, you get the best quality, which they say is DVD quality. If you have crap internet, you get the Youtube version. ;)

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. First of all, it is possible to stream HD, Go to ABC.com and select Lost - Stream in HD.

Also, maybe for people like you with mommy's 20inch Goldstar TV, the difference between HD and SD is not apparent. I have a 42" Plasma HD, and the difference between HD-DVD and regular DVDs is almost more pronounced than the difference between regular DVDs and VHS. You're blind if you can't see the difference. It's like the difference between a PS2 and a 360 in terms of graphics; it's there and right in front of your face.

The streaming service is free to use, but that $9 plan is the cheapest membership that includes it. So, if you have the 3 out at a time plan, you don't pay $9 on top of it to do the streaming.

Thank DP and b11. Will the $9/month allow you to rent one dvd at a time from NETFLIX too since it's the cost of an actual membership?

Dang, just noticed my post only got the quote and not what I typed.

I doubt the Netflix thing will require a hard drive. The Roku player has no hard drive and it works fine. The 360's non-hard drive memory will be more than enough for buffering.
