The Xbox 360 launched late 2005. It'll have the typical FIVE year lifespan, and maybe even six. Sony may be able to keep the PS3 around for ten years, but the games won't be able to compete with newer technology. In five extra years computer programming and hardware design can make major strives that will leave the PS3 in the dust.

Also, PC gaming isn't a "rough life". I PC game now more than I do console and I can more then afford to buy a new GPU when they release. Right now I have a Radeon HD 3870 X2, but I'm going to buy ATI's new high-end GPU when it releases. Games look and perform quite a bit better on PC. The online gameing is better and you can do much more with a games.

You are a fanboy lol, Sony will not wait that long, if you think that then you are obviously retarded.

If microsoft released a new system sony will do the same, maybe it could be a year after microsoft's release but still sony won't let that happen, as we speak sony may be developing or putting together ideas for the PS4, so don't think that microsoft is going to zoom right past sony.

Consoles typically have a 5 year life cycle, you would be foolish to buy one now and expect 4 to 5 years considering its been out since Q4 of 2005. Its halfway and there will be announcements of a new xbox in late 09 or early 010 I'm guessing.

No. I'm kind of happy, as it means that I get a new system sooner.

Read it from my new GI and it think it is too soon. If it is going to happen I want it to happen in the next 3-5 years because there is still a lot of life left in the 360. It feels like this generation of system just started.

[QUOTE="riobird"]i just got mine last year and im kinda pissed that they might release one in 2 or 3 years. does anyone else want the 360 to last longer? i still want new games 4 or 5 years from now.DanteTheLegend3

I'm kind of mad too, i hate buying new consoles, too much money out of my pocket, i'll stick with my ps3, and maybe i'll get ps4 instead of the new xbox, but if someone offers me the new xbox for free then i'll take it :D

There isn't going to be a ps4. sorry kid.

The xbox 360 was realesed in 2005 and the new xbox is set for 2010(from various magazines and video game shows check out the new Game Informer, I'm pretty sure there's news in there). This is the same 5 year period that all consoloes have been going by for some time. The real conflict is that there are many rumors going around stating that the playstation 3 is going to be late and will come out in 2012 which gives microsoft the market for two years, again!

In every interview that I've seen where they ask someone if the 360 is going to have a longer lifespan then previous consoles they answer thats what we're aiming for or something like that. All the rumors about a new xbox are from magazines speculating when we will see a new xbox.

Everybody has to remeber that 5 years is a hell of a long time for electronics and I really won't be surprised if the next-gen of consoles don't last for 5 years.

Also for anyone who still bealives this is microsofts last console, you must not get the fact that whenever the newt-gen of consoles is realesed they will probley make the most due to the overall growth and appeal to this "new" form of entertainment.
