Something just occured to me. In another topic, the thread creator was complaining about the newer Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon games not being like earlier ones in the series. In this topic, he's complaining about a lack of innovation and change.

So he can't make up his mind. What's wrong with that? :P

I've got no problem with sequels that add things to gameplay. Ones that just update the guns and maps feel like a waste of money. They could easily be added as downloads. Hell, so could new campaigns.

Any game that comes out with a new release every year feels like a gamble to me. I'm going to spend $60 now, for something that will be re-released with new maps and guns in a year? I'm looking at you, Call of Duty....

In one way or another, games are the same nowdays. Take The Sabetour, it is a fun game, but you can tell the GTA elements that they incorporated into it. And alot of sequels in my eye are rehashed games just hurried out to try and make more money.Another example is Dantes Inferno, cool game, but God of War anyone. Games have been out so long, it is hard to create a new and innovative game.

For every DMC, GeOW, GOW, Halo, Mario,Call of Duty, theres about a dozen or more copy cats. Samey type of game gets big hype, AAA score, then quickly forgotten and the cycle repeats. There's less risk nowadays because the stakes are so high, but things have become a little stagnant because of it.
