Just wondering. Don't know if I should purchase a HDTV, I'm sure I wouldn't spend no $1000+ for a television! Does playing on a HDTV make much of a difference than the old tvs? I'd hate to spend alot of money over something that's not really worth it's price.

With the world moving to HDTV signals this decade now is the time to start moving to HDTVs, so if you can afford it then sure, get one gfx are better, cleaner and you see more for multiplayer.... But. If you cant shell out the coin then stick with old TV till you can afford a new one.

I don't get what the huge deal with HDTV. Sure the graphics are better but that is basically it. I play games for the fun not the graphics. Sure they make a contribution to making the game better but it isn't that much of a big deal.

does it look better on hd,  yes.  but the 360 on sdtv looks better than xbox1 on hdtv.  and most of the games are just as much fun in sdtv.

Necessary? No. Totally Awesome? Yes.

part of the thing that makes the 360 so good is the graphics, and the graphics are so much nicer on a an HDTV

Yes. Purchase a widescreen monitor or a 720p HDTV ($200 and $500 respectively) and a decent surround sound system (variable, but the spherex system can be found for $200 now and kicks butt - powered sub and excellent overall sound, was $500 when it came out).

Going 720p and 5.1 makes a *huge* difference in the immersion level of the game. It's a pretty huge deal, and anyone who has such as setup at home will tell you it is. It's generally only the SDTV gamers without a sound system who will tell you otherwise. If you have $400 ~ $500 get a widescreen monitor, sound system, and the vga cable, if you have more, get an HDTV, if not, at the very least, invest in a sound system and start saving.

You might as well. By 2008, all TV signals are supposed to be in HD and this year, HD's are supposed to go down a lot in price.

its not a necessity for a xbox 360, but its a bonus. if you don't want to spend tons of money on HDTV, buy a monitor like me. basically, all monitors are HD and i spent about 200 bucks on my monitor and i could play it on either 1280 x 1024 or 1360 x 768. it's totally worth it.

My theory is that the much smaller the tv, the best image quality will give you, with so much bigger TV´s running this days, the solution is to put bigger resolutions in it! (cause it´s bigger).

No, HDTV are not necessary. The thing to remember is that the graphics are what they are....PERIOD!! An HDTV doesnt somehow magically make the games graphics something they are not. All a HDTV does is sharpens the image quality, smooths the edges and brightens the colors a bit. We have (3) 360's in our house with (2) of them being on SDTV's and the games still look great!!!

I'm so use to seeing PGR3 in HD that when my boyfriend was playing it on our older TV with composite, I asked him why he was playing Forza. D:

Once you go HD... it's so hard going back.

they arent needed, but are a big plus, its like going from stereo to 5.1 Surround sound, its a very enjoyable jump

No. From what I've seen, everything stands out a bit more and gets sharper edges. HD is prettier than SD, but it's not that big of a jump.

the thing is IMO...Its not necessary to go HDTV just for the xbox...but if your a big sports fan..or a big movie buff like me and plus I love games then its a must to own an HDTV...unfortuanetly I can't afford one right now because I got to put a roof over my familys head but once I move in June I plan on buying atleast a 42 inch HDTV....cuz right now I have a 27 inch SDTV and I can't read alot of the text without straining and it just sucks...plus I love watching football in Hidef...its unblievable and once you go hidef you will never want to go back again

IN my opinion I think it is just a very nice attachment. I play on like 24in flat screen and I have a blast. Would it be nice to have a HDTV? Yes, but until I magically find large sums of money my good 'ole flat screen will do...

The graphics are what they are. An HDTV doesn't add more Polygons or more graphics. But it does show them better. You say graphics are what they are and an HDTV wont improve that. But you are wrong. The Graphics on the 360 are all designed with HD in mind. They are all built with the ideal of providing HD quality. So no HDTV wont make your graphics look magically better. It's NOT using a HDTV that is making your graphics look less because they where designed to be in HD.
