Just curious if many of you have been buying the SE version of games for $10 more? Have you found the extra content worth it? It seems to be a trend particularly for Xbox 360 games...

it depends in the extra content, if is good enough, then why not drop a few more dollars?

I think the question you need to ask yourself is why are you buying the game in the first place. If you are buying the game for the sole intention of "playing" the game (which most people do) then you really dont need an art gallery or an inside look to the music of the game. Unless you are a dedicated fan itching for those useless nuggets of info then i suggest you go buy 10 rolls of fruit mentos. They kick ass.

The only CE I plan to buy is the Bioshock one.  If you go to the bioshock website they are having a contest to design the CE of Bioshock.  It looks like it will be actually worth it.  Can you belive that an Eb guy tried to get me to buy the CE of Rainbow 6 lol

IMO, it's only worth it if you get tangible coolness. I.E. action figures, a really lengthy art book, or a t-shirt. The whole "Making-of" DVD is kind of lame if you aren't into game design... You'll watch it once and wish you had your $10 back.

Well it is true that the cases are much cooler and shinier! But I think that the game itself is the reason for buying the game, not for the extra content that comes along with it. However, having extra content for only $10 is not too bad, I have to pay like $20 for extra content!!!!!!

It's for those who don't have a significant other and are more than likely gamenerds and have the extra cash to invest in SE versions of games.  So while they're taking a break from the game they can pleasure themselves while watching the extra content with their hairy palms!

I bought 6 SE or CE last year, and they were all worthless. I've learned my lesson. Plus the regular editions usually have better artwork.

Oblivion was worth it.  I love the coin, the book was interesting, and the making of DVD was actually entertaining, which is rare.

I really don't see the point of paying extra money for the game.  All I want is to play it.

I buy the CE of a game when ever I can. I like to see how the games were made and don't mine paying more. The CE of Halo 2 and Gears of War were the best. By far the worst CE I own is PDZ the extra if you can call them that are stupid I did like the tin box and the game made up for the extra $10.00 :D.

Do not buy but special editions that cost $10 more. Those games are part of a test market to see if gamers are willing to spend $10 extra on games. The publishers do this so they can justify hiking the normal price up $10. Don't get sucked into the crap, the more special editions are bought the higher the price of games will become.

The averge game price used to be $50 now they are $60 in the next gen. They blame the higher price on rising production cost when it is anything but.

It all depends. If, like Halo2 and Halo3, where they announce the Special Editions and you can get them at launch and they have some nice stuff I do. But like if I get a game and theres only the normal, and later on they release a Special or Collectors Edition of a game I already own, I aint gonna go buy it.

depending on what the extras have. Most of the time it's extra artwork and how they made the game.  I'm an artist myself so i buy all the Limited Edition titles and watch the extras first THEN play the game.  Although i'm not really interested in the Legendary Edition of Halo because i don't care for the helmet.
