yea i got redringed too once when i was drunk, it itched for weeks but its gone now.
I treat my xbox very brash and haphazardly and turn it off all willy nilly. But I am one of those insane idiots that thinks that if my console gets broken by a couple bumps then it wasn't worth the amount of money I spent on it. It's like people who buy an expensive car and you close the door and they get all paranoid. " You might have closed it to hard"
I'm just rambling though.

......................Dear Lord:shock:
I'm always afraid of getting it at the wrong time.
Once, after waiting a week with the new Gears of War in hand, my 360 arrives from Micrsoft Repair. I finally get to play Gears when I got home. After an hour I needed get something for dinner, so I pause it. I come back later to find the console locked. I turn it off and on and guess what, RRoD. The dang repair lasted 2hours after waiting a whole week after Gears came out to play it. That was my 3rd bad console.
Then, when Halo 3 came out. The 2nd day I was playing it, 2nd console (an extra I bought after the 3rd bad one) froze. It started to RRoD. Talke about annoying, first with Gears release, now with Halo release. I didn't have my first xbox since I lent it to my brother.
Top that off, the one my brother had that I lent, it just recently died. I dropped off two dead 360s at UPS today. I have a 3rd Halo Edition keeping me occupied that I may sell once I got those 2 back.
So I've had a total of 5 RROD. And they always seem to happen at the worst moment.

Does no good to live in fear. It is inevitable that your 360 will die. Just play it to the max and enjoy it while u have it.

Well if you notice...every one that got the RRoD is still playing the crap out of their system. Its all about the games and the community. If it werent I would have moved on my first RRoD.
I have a brand new elete with better components and i also keep my room at a balmy 68 degrees :P im not afrade,
( god dammit it is cold in here)

That is a good point..... and is probably why I think I'll end up going with the 360 instead of the PS3 regardless. I keep hearing about how the PS3 is about to finally take off, how it's such a superior system, but I'm still not seeing any PS3 exclusives I'm really excited about. On the other hand, there's a ton of Xbox exclusives I really want to play.
I still think it's a bit ridiculous to have to spend $350+ on any electroinic and then worry about it breaking down and going through the trouble of having to send it back and wait for a couple weeks while they work on it... and then HOPE it's really fixed when it's returned to me. It's been over two years now. I've been waiting for them to fix all these problems before buying one, but it looks like they're just not too worried about doing that. Guess I'll get one and hope for the best.

I am extremely frustrated that M$ still hasnt fixed the problem w/ the systems failing so often...but for gaming theres no better place to be. I have seriously considered it...but if I was to go w/ PS3 I would have Resistance, UT3, and CoD 4 and that is it. I even condsidered the Wii but its not my thing. Cant stand Mario and all the japanese hooplah that system has going for it. I wouldnt play any of the games on that system besides Metroid. So its either play a superior system w/ crap games...or play a crap system w/ superior games. Kinda lose lose.
I brought my console to egypt for a vacation 2 months ago so i had to use a power converter. I had this big heave duty one and it worked on that but then i use a smaller one when i went to my friends house there and my 360 got rrod 3 times while there but it still worked. *phew* the power there is double the power in the us. It could have been fried. But it still works even after a fourth one later due to a power surge.
So ive had it 4 times on the same console and it works without repairs. 360's are tough. lol:D
i am not afraid of rrod anymore because i know my 360 will survive!!
My first 360 got RROD after I've had it for like 6 months or something. But the store gave me my money back because microsoft was so dang slow in fixing it. So when I bought my new 360 I got the RROD in the first startup. But it still works just have to restart it when the 360 get the RROD (which has happend like 10 times or something with that console alone). Buts thats probally just a production error because it still works so.
RROD = Red Ring of Death, even though it's only 3 red lights, not a full ring.
Also, when you do get one. You don't have to call and go through the cruddy phone system, then talk to someone and going through a bunch of junk. I had to do that 3 times.
Though, now they have an online system that's quick and simple. Just log into your account here: https://service.xbox.com/servicehome.aspx
Register your console with the serial. Then go to repair service, make sure you enable RROD, as even if it says your console is out of warranty, this problem is a 3 year warranty. Type in any extra info you want, then submit. That's it, the box will be sent out to you right away. No calling/
[QUOTE="kall5ter08"]whats a RROD? lol sorry i'm dumb Hitchy9
Red Ring Of Death. When you turn on your 360 and it has 3 lights.... means your 360 is broken and needs to be sent in to microsoft.
no not really, when i got the 3 red lights was because everything wasn't plugged in how it was meant to be

If something wasn't plugged in right, like the video cable on the back ot the 360 was missing, you'd get a full ring, all 4 lights. 3 lights is the main hardware failure message. You can try disconnecting everything, and reconnecting to see if the 3 red lights goes away, and sometimes does, but once it's happened, there's a good chance it will come back.
1-27-08 my xbox gave me the E74 error 30min into a cod4 match. video went blotchy. i restarted it and thats when it gave it
3 weeks b4 mine quit my brother got the RROD and we sent his in yestorday. im waiting for the box to send mine in. so we both have to send in our 360s. 3 weeks apart.
No, not really because if it does break, ill just send it to microsoft to get it fixed :)beefdogthey dont fix anything over there at microsoft... and it takes aout 2 1/2 months for them to send it back to u 3 times and then when they realixe they can't *fix* it they just send you another one after 3 months!!!
