i don't mind. i'll probably be a little annoyed having to buy another one at the end of the year, but it's something I can live with. money isn't a huge problem
People don't realize you can buy 1 month or 3 month increments as well..though the $50 year is the best deal. But still, you can buy 1 or 3 month cards for summer if you're busy at school or whatnot, so its not always $50..
No one should be complaining about the 1 year $50 card. Nobody. If you try to go about it at any angle you win and save all the way. Plus if you get the kit that like 10 or 15 dollars more you get tons of stuff. It's worth it all the way. Why should we pay? Well if it was free we would have alot more lag, less dedicated service, not as much good features and free content. IF you have a Wii or PS3 and see the diffrence between thier onlien and X-Box Live then you will be grateful. Yes some maye say they can't afford it. Well games cost $65....so.. We win all the way.
Nope, I don't mind it at all. The service is great for the price and if anything stops working or gets messed up, Microsoft works around the clock until they fix it. That is what we get for paying for it.
Its not the price of the service. Its just that microsoft has everyone paying for something thats been free on the PC for years. And nobody minds paying for it. I'm not saying its a bad service because I think its the best in the buisness. Its kinda like all of a sudden charging for library books.
It would if I played games on live...but I don't, so it's not really an issue. Unless MS starts hosting their own servers for games to reduce lag it should be free.
XBOX is focus on online gaming, so 50 bucks actually really cheap. consider almost all the games support LIVE. my bro has PS3 and fighting games for PS3 usually not compitable to be play online EX: Virtua Fighter & Def Jam Icon.
Also if there a problem with the server, M$ try to make costumers happy by giving a free arcade games. like during christmas time, and they decided to give Undertow for free :D. if PSN or WII WIFI has some kind of problem, i doubt they give a free stuff.
Great online community. I can always be sure that there will be someone to play with. Besides once you pay the 50 bucks, you'll be too busy enjoying xbox live that you'll forget about ever even paying.
I pay for quality and satisfaction.
However.. i do get bothered by those little ads on my dashboard.. Take the Gamestop ad that was on my xbox live blade the other day, it makes that blade an eye-irritant...i pay for xbox live and i feel that it shouldn't be there. But hey, that affects me in no way at all, so i can't complain.

$50 a year is more than a fair price for the service you get. i don't have xbl gold anymore. i had xbl for the past 2 years but now i don't play games nearly as much as i used to. so it'd be a waste of money for me. plus i hate little kids.
I think $50 for 13 months is a fair price for what you are receiving. Also, if I add up all the 1 month free cards I've gotten from games and special promotions so far this year I've compiled 3 to 4 months extra.

Chill out. People like you should be #1 on the disgusted list. Some of these people are in situations where they can't afford xbl, so rather than smashing them you should relax and keep the negativity to yourself.
I wasn't for awhile, but now that I own a PS3 too and can play the same games online for free, it wouldn't make much sense for me to continue to pay for my XBL membership.
My only conflict is that it seems there are more people playing 360 online than PS3, probably because there are more 360 owners than PS3 owners. For certain games, it may be better playing on 360.
I think its a good deal. true, Playstation network is free, but it is nowhere near as good as xbox live. it's laggier, confusing, and you don't even get a headset for god sake. Xbox live 12 moths membership for £39.99 is a good deal if you ask me. However, I was very, very cheesed off when I had to spend £59.99 on a wireless dongle. There isnt even any 3rd party stuff. It didn;t even match my the colour of my Elite. 59.99 for a dongle! It's ridiculous.
I got into a debate about this with someone. I'll précis my argument here: Xbox Live is about $5 a month. That's incredibly cheap for someone who can afford $50 games and a several hundred dollar system.
In short, no it doesn't bother me at all paying the price of a good dinner for a year of online service.
