You guys will not get MMO's without a subscription.. what are you smoking? You pay for Xbox Live so you can run servers on your own Xboxes, and now you expect companies to just hand over server farms to you?
The only two business models that work without a subscription are: Guild Wars, where they release a brand new game every 6-10 months, and free to play MMO's in which in game items and such are done by microtransactions. And none of the F2P games are actually any good.
I think MMO's would be bad news for 360's simply based on hardware issues... there enough RROD problems now, imagine how much worse it will be when people are playing for 12+ hours. It's easy to lose track of time in a game you can do so much in.
But in the end, I would say I would still be interested in checking it out, as long as it is new and original instead of a rehash that's already been on the PC.... like APB. That sounds really cool.
[QUOTE="Ghost_702"]WoW wouldn't transition well to the 360 due to complex controls and what not. However it would be nice to have some sort of MMORPG on the 360 (besides FFXI). I would definitely give it a try. MMO's tend to work a whole lot better on computers too.brianpoetzel
I think the controls could be worked out. It would be a challenge though due to the number of hotbars you can have is WoW and the limited buttons on the 360 controller. OR... MS could just allow kb/m support for its games. I like that idea better.
Take a look at games like Guild wars, the controls are not complicated at all. You have 8 skills and it's all about the builds you can make with those 8 skills that make it so fun. You cap at 20 so you don't have to constantly be on it to level up and can focus more on your builds and how the different skills interact on different quests. With the release of the MS messenger kit that takes care of all the "want to buy" and "want to sell" ad's and such, as well as the headset for questing. I think that it shows that MMO's don't have to be overly complicated button wise and still very fun and addicting.
as much as i hate to say it im not so sure huxley will be comming out this generation. the game has been in developement long before the 360 released, and we received very little updates about the game since then.... i would love to play it on my 360,, im so looking forward to that game, but i do find myself seriously doubting it comming out this gen.*cough*Huxley*cough*

MMOs on the 360 would be a real mess, they are suited to the PC, their nature dictates their platform, and in my opinion it just wouldn't work, WoW on a 360 would lack the ease of switching to browser to find something out etc. I just think it would fail.CooltechieYou may be right without some sort of key board accessory it would be difficult, but I do think that it is only a matter of time for consoles to start implementing MMO's whether it be this generation or next. It's a question of when not if.

I'm pretty sure it will.. Huxley is coming out later this year for PC and probably sometime next year for 360. The problem is Huxley is lookin TERRIBLE. It's not Planetside-style MMOFPS, which would be sweet.. it's like smaller battlegrounds and the gameplay looks a lot like Unreal Tournament. It looks really disappointing.
What about the GTA series? That could make an absolute awesome MMO. Something modern day without all the fantasy.teletran0n3
Have you read about APB? You should :) It's kinda like that.
as long as it's free. xbox live costs too much as it is.FREEKENERD

Nope. Haven't heard of it. I'm ignorant when it comes to MMOs.

that or cancel project, save the code, and bring it out later as a new project like thousands of other games out there.I would love to have a multiplayer RPG, even if it's not massively multiplayer, as long as I don't have to pay a monthly fee.The_Fell_One
Maybe that is the difference. Instead of hundreds of people, maybe only 10 or 20 to roam around with.

They could do GuildWars from the PC.
Fable 2, comming out the end of this year will allow you to play with another friend over XBL. Just one though apparently.
I don't know what you guys are thinking. Saying how an mmo can't work on a console. I played FFXI for almost 3 years on my ps2. And I do have it installed on my 360. The controls are a non-issue as they mapped it rather well. To say it can't work because of controls is rather ignorant. Please play one before making these blanket statements.
I for one would love for a solid MMO to come out for the 360 as FFXI is on the decline. I would guy it rather quickly and understand about paying a monthly fee as i've already done it for a long time.

what about phantasy star universe isnt that an mmo :S. i would definataly try out an mmo on 360 as long as there is no subscription fee
This is true Bethesda is working on a MMO, weather they plan to put it on console format is still unclear, but considering PC gaming is pretty much dying I am sure its in the works. Blizzard is staying strictly PC but CITY OF HEROES is the "SUPERHERO" MMO that will be debuting on the PC and Xbox next year. It should be sweet....MrYates808
I hope the Elder Scrolls one comes out on the console. I would definitely buy that one.
...and the amount of people playing WOW on 360 would be nothing compared to PC users, so development would just be a waste of money and time. andyrae11
Good point. I think that is a massive hurdle. It all comes down to the install base. Why develop for a relatively limited audience? The entire world has PCs, hundreds of millions of potential customers. How many 360s are out there? 10-15 million? And of those customers, how many are interested in MMOs that charge extra fees? Practically none. If you want a game like WoW, I'm afraid extra fees are unavoidable.
