Looking forward to this, it's not the full game but for those interested they should have a free trial as with previous XOne games released through this program. Details below...

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/heres-when-ark-survival-evolved-comes-to-xbox-one-/1100-6432983/

An in-development version of dinosaur game Ark: Survival Evolved will launch on Xbox One on December 16, developer Studio Wildcard has announced. It'll cost $35, which is $5 more than the game goes for on PC.

Studio co-founder and creative director Jess Rapczak says in a new interview that the Xbox One version--released though the Xbox Game Preview program--has "no compromises" when compared to the PC edition. It'll feature all of the content released to date fo the PC version--and there's been a lot.

In addition, Xbox One players are getting a range of "Founder's content," including skins and more.

"Gamers want new experiences on their consoles, and we feel that Ark, which is one of the few dinosaur games on the market, and one of the only, if not the only true multiplayer survival games on console, will bring that fresh gaming experience that helps define this generation," he told IGN.

The Xbox One version of Ark won't get new updates on the "insane pace" of the PC version, but Studio Wildcard's plan is to "keep content parity between the Xbox Game Preview and PC versions of the game. "

When Ark leaves Xbox Game Preview and launches in full next summer, it will cost more than $35, though a final price point was not announced. Whatever the case, people who bought the Xbox One Preview version will not need to re-buy the game.

Ark is also coming to PlayStation 4, though not until next summer.

Are you looking forward to checking out Ark on Xbox One? Let us know in the comments below.

That game has been on my radar since they announced it for Xbox One, I guess I'll jump on the preview program for this.

I'm interested in the game. I always wanted to play a game like this. Anyone remember B.C. for the original Xbox? That project was cancelled but I got excited about the idea of trying to survive in a world filled with dinosaurs and stuff. This game looks like the closest to that BC project and then some. So I'm definitely checking it out if it has a free trial, considering the $35 price point too.

@gago-gago: Yeah this kind of game seems rare. The description also states it supports multiplayer, which I had no idea it would. I'm just wondering if multiplayer will be available in the early access build or we need to wait for the full game for that.....seems unclear right now.

I played it on pc. I like the concept but the offline death and offline base raiding ruins it. I know thats a 'thing' in survival games but you get to a point where you basically are grinding to get back all the stuff you lost when you are logged out which sucks for me. The same hardcore pvpers that defend the system will all wait til you're offline to destroy your base.

Yepperzz, I have been pleading for MS / Lionhead to give Fable a break and go back and make BC for 360 and now X1, the game looked nearly finished and playable more than a decade ago. :(

Anyway, yes, will give this a whirl, I'm in the Preview Program.

@SecretPolice: Just a little fyi, I could be mistaken but I do not believe you need to be in the preview program to try out Early access games, I think those are open to all.

@oflow: That does sound weird lol hardcore to the max I guess. Reminds me of State of Decay where after taking a break from the game, I would load up my game and half my team members died of starvation or something(its offline but game does things to give the illusion that time continues while you are not playing the game).

Some interesting details just emerged about this game, but it only applies to people who have 2 Xbox Ones......

Ark: Survival Evolved Lets Players Host Their Own Servers on Xbox One

As long as you have a second Xbox One, that is.

by Mat Paget on December 14, 2015

GameSpot

Ark: Survival Evolved is hitting the Xbox One on December 16, and if you have a second Xbox One lying around, you'll be able to use it to host your own server.

Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczak talked to Xbox Wire about his studio's early access dinosaur game, saying that players can host a "50+ player" server on a second Xbox One--something that would normally require "an expensive PC server and a lot of management headaches."

The way this will work was not mentioned by Rapczak, nor was it confirmed if hosting your own server would be available from the outset. Ark is launching on the Xbox One Game Preview Program, meaning that the game is a work-in-progress and some features may be coming later. It released earlier this year in June and is still a part of Steam's Early Access program.

Xbox One owners will be happy to hear that Rapczak believes the Xbox One gamepad control is "much improved over the PC version" and that it will be the "smoothest gameplay experience" available for the game.

Xbox One players will also be getting special limited edition "Founder's content," such as skins. Additionally, the dinosaur survival game charted in 2015's Top 10 Video Games on YouTube.

More details have emerged about multiplayer:

Ark: Survival Evolved Xbox One Getting Two-Player Local Split-Screen

Long live couch co-op!

by Eddie Makuch on December 15, 2015

GameSpot

In news that will surely please couch co-op fans, Studio Wildcard has announced that the soon-to-be-released Xbox One version of dinosaur survival game Ark: Survival Evolved will support local two-player split-screen. Online split-screen is not part of the developer's plans, only local.

Unfortunately, split-screen won't be ready for Ark's release tomorrow, December 16. Instead, it will come through an update sometime early in 2016. This feature will be exclusive to the Xbox One version, at least for the time being after its release, Studio Wildcard told us.

"Most developers have abandoned split-screen multiplayer, but Studio Wildcard knows that console gamers love their split-screen experience," the developer said.

343 Industries caused quite a stir when it confirmed that Halo 5: Guardians would not include local split-screen, a beloved feature that was a staple of past games in the series. Local split-screen could be featured in Halo 6, however.

Ark's local split-screen feature is already up and running internally, and Studio Wildcard sent over some screenshots. Take a look at these in the gallery below by clicking on the thumbnails.

Although fans will have to wait until 2016 for Ark's split-screen mode, the Xbox One version will support another unique feature right out of the gate tomorrow.

Players can use a second Xbox One to host their own 50-plus player server. Of course, you'll need to have a second Xbox One for this, but as Studio Wildcard co-founder Jesse Rapczak points out, hosting a server would normally require "an expensive PC server and a lot of management headaches."

Xbox One players will also get special limited edition "Founder's content," such as skins and more. Check out this post for a full rundown of what to expect.

Ark's Xbox One version will cost $35 when it launches tomorrow through the Xbox Game Preview program. The full, finished game is slated to arrive in the summer of 2016 for a higher price, though people who bought the Xbox Game Preview version won't need to pay more at launch.

A PlayStation 4 version of Ark will also be released in summer 2016.

Ark was released earlier this year on PC and has proven to be a big hit. By Studio Wildcard's latest count, the game--which remains in an unfinished Early Access state--has already sold more than 2 million copies

I picked it up even though i said i wouldnt. its so hilariously bad its good, like an evil dead movie.

biggest gripe so far is how you pick a server. instead of assigning you to a server you pick one from a list and have to bookmark it but it doesnt tell you this so you can play and log out or get disconnected and not be able to find your server again.

Its a funny game though makes me laugh. its a never ending trollfest. play with a friend or three you wont stop laughing.

I dont really know about the longevity of the game since its incredibly imbalanced in the end game like I said. Ultimately its not even about having to constantly rebuild your stuff, its about the fact that level gaps in the game make it extremely unbalanced.

For example, a high level character can make fortifications that it takes a low level person literally hours to batter down, but the high level can literally destroy hours and hours of a low level person's work and steal all their stuff in literally minutes.

It basically makes the game have no see-sawing of power which is necessary in a pvp game. The people that reach end game first and play more will always be in control which ultimatlely isnt a fun dynamic.

Like I said, if you actually have a life outside of gaming say like a job, you will basically spend all your time working and rebuilding stuff that the people that play all the time get to come and steal for free.
