lol.. he begins, a second time.
I know this does not really have something to do with the 360 but, I just read somthing saying by may of this year Warner Brothers movies are going to only release on blu-ray.................wtf, so, for example........When Batman Begins 2 comes out, I wont be able to watch it if I dont have a blu-ray...............Warner has to of lost there minds or somthing, they will lose alot of moneyGabrialTehall
Then don't post it, as it's OFF TOPIC.
WB won't make regular DVD's either?Eric_Drav3n
they wil still make them, be stupid to drop the major format. the article is about them ditching hd dvd, people shudnt be defensive over hd dvd what ever has the most releases shud be the main format by right. just coz ps3 has it dont mean its a bad thing. probally see it in xboxes on the next console if it wins the battle , where i live in uk, the shops have twice as many if not 3 times as many blue ray movies than hd dvd, both aint flurishing but blue ray deffos got the most releases. i see that being the trend for way forward as this announcements a show how sales must be
The whole BD, HDDVD thing is very on topic. It relates to both consoles and of course PCs.teebeenz
No, it's off topic, because it always results in a partisan flame war. Especially when you title the topic "blu ray invades homes everywhere"

don't know why but i like your chuck norris nvidia sig alot :P
but bluray is winning and if it does m$ will make a blu-ray add on drive to the 360 for like $200 or soo it is olny a matter of time
either way i am good, if hddvd maraculasly comes back and demolishes bluray i will just have to suck it up and buy an add on drive but right now i am usin my ps3 for hd movies, i have a couple movies in 1080 on my harddrive they are nice

I have a PS3 now, in addition to my 360, so it isn't like it bothers me, but there is very little good that can come from a thread like this :) Thanks for the compliment btw :P The background is actually a modified (by me) screenshot I took in game from S.T.A.L.K.E.R lol

Look it simple, Blu-ray is the future, the 360 has no business going with HD-DVD as it has nothing to do with gaming and is the lesser of the two. Sony si forcing the futur upon PS3 owners but Blu-ray wont be the standard till 2010 maybe 2011. Till then the good old DVD will remain the standard and many people will keep this because lots of families have no interest in the extras blu-ray offers. Unless your some crazy Microsoft fanboy this doesnt effect 360 owners at all. BEsides the Blu-Ray might be winning but so is the 360.
This IS the sole reason I DONT LIKE BLU RAY. I cant wait until blu ray becomes the standard and then everyone starts complaining about how they wish they could back up their movies and do other things like put them on personal media devices. But YOU WONT BE ABLE TO. SONY IS A **** COMPANY WHO IS TRYING TO FORCE ITS DRM (digital rights management) BULL**** INTO EVERY CORNER OF THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY. Its been one thing after another most recently: HDMI and NOW BLU RAY. THIS IS BAD FOR US CONSUMERS but noone will realize it until its too late.

Laugh Out Loud at this character! Yup you heard it here Sony is the only comany using DRM. In fact they created it. Get your facts straight. DRM is everywhere and it is being forced on people by the content creators, like the movie studios, music companies and what not. Posts like this piss me the hell off.

Correct me if im wrong but isn't sonyone of the major 4 owners/founders of blu ray. Maybe its just me but I can't see them allowing Microsoft to create a BD player for the xbox360.
This whole Blue ray vs. HD-DVD thing is such a joke.
I have an extensive dvd collection...so I'm expected to throw all my DVD's in the garbage and replace them with Blue-ray movies because...Why? Who in their right minds is going to allow themselves to get suckered into that?
And what's wrong with DVD anyways?
And I must be mis-understanding Warner-Brother statement. They've gone and favored Blue-Ray, but when have they stated that they're halting all production of DVD's?
The porn industry uses only HD-DVD. Thats how VHS won back in the day, though things are different now.mikel222222
Um...not to say I'm a horny porn addict, but I've yet to see HD-DVD only pornos on store shelves. Expecting the majority of men who rent Porn movies to foot the bill for a HD-DVD player is pretty silly.
Personally, I've been a fairly strong HD DVD supporter because I believed in some of its principles more than BD. BD seems to be more protective of the movie companies while HD was more protective of the consumer. Either way though, I feel it's a moot point now.
The rumors are that Warner just wanted to pick a side and end the war, they didnt care which it was. The HD DVD group was caught off guard because, apparently, they were just about all set to announce WB and Fox exclusivity at CES, but then Fox pulled and walked out last second. WB followed because they felt that without 1 more major studio on the HD side, the war would continue indefinitely. Not that it matters now, of course, but apparently we were this close from it being the other way around.
All this means to me is that I have to wait for a reasonably priced BD player to arrive with profile 1.1 (preferably 2.0). It just sucks because I just finished saving for my projection system and thus won't have as much disposable income for a while.
Well to look at the facts Blu-Ray does out sell HD-DVD 2 to 1. I own a XBOX 360 and the HD-DVD drive. No one can be mad about this. It is all about business and which way they will make more money. I am sure it is expensive to produce both formats and apparently HD-DVD side is not making up for the cost.
I myself do not really mind this. I would eventually get a PS3 anyway for the Blu-Ray mainly. A lot of movies I want are on Blu-Ray especially Disney and Pixar for my kids. This Warner Brothers switch is just another step in the direction of Blu-Ray to take over as the standard in HD discs playback. Also a lot more companies are siding with Blu-Ray. For example it is said that Apple will announce its full Blu-Ray support at Macworld in a few days. Which this would make sense being Steve Jobs owned Pixar before selling for stock to Disney which they are exclusive to Blu-Ray.
Those who bought a HD-DVD player in hopes it would win the war, this is all but nothing that would happen to one or the other format. The format war was nowhere near over and someone has to lose. I am not sure if they will always be both formats around.
