I've noticed on the official Xbox channels and sites that the list of supported Xbox games for the Xbox360 has stopped being updated as of late. Now, I'm sure there are others of you who feel, like me, that you should be able to play your favourite Xbox games on your Xbox360. I still have my Xbox, but it's a pain to set up every time I want to play say Def Jam Fight For New York (which I prefer to Icon, since it's ATI's amazing fighting styles, whilst Icon feels somewhat... lacking). I heard rumours from a few people that third parties etc are developing firmware upgrades for specific games to run on the Xbox360. I don't know whether it's true or what, 'cause I haven't found much past rumours on the internet... has anyone else heard about anything like this? What are your thoughts?

Everything I want has been added, but there needs to be improvements on games, particularly Fable.

Microsoft said they're done with backwards support

This is why you'll always need an original XBOX if you want to play all of it's games

thats as good as they can get the game, just look at the games where it dont work properly thats the reason not all games are down because the ones on the list are probs working worse than that. only the devs if they want are the ones continuing the B C. but i suspect they stopped along with ms. problem lies in emulating the graphics card. for some games it just dont work. and to be honest if u got a hd tv then alot of the games are built for interlaced tvs so the graphics even on a original xbox still dont look good on a hd tv because of them using interlaced resolutions and the graphics only look smooth on old sd tvs they never stopped to be lazy they just cant get some games working good enough. and some of the games that load and act glitchy show that its deffos the case, best way is to use a old xbox coz emualtors cant always pull off the games properly

Yea I wish more games were BC but I can understand *though it ticks me off* why they dont add all games. Like somone said some games just cant be emulated effectivly across the platform. Why they did not build it into the 360, I dont know. Also making games BC requires a team of people, people that need to be paid and who are probably working on other projects too.

They're not allowed to

They lost the ability to do it when they didn't reup their contract, that's the same reason the XBOX lost steam so fast.

So it's either software or nothing, they didn't have the rights to the hardware anymore

Well there are over 450 games on the backwards compatibility list, and while not every game is on there, it is still a huge list of games. So just enjoy what games are on the list, plus all the hundreds of 360 games. If you want to play one of the games not on the list, then plug in your old xbox.

It's not worth the cost of updating the list with more games since MS won't make any money from doing it, and compared to a new 360 title, original xbox titles are played by a very small minority.

I've still got an XBOX, and I also still have a PS2 . . and I think they're getting rid of BC for the sake of lowering their costs. I for one am pissed off though. When I finally get around to getting another PS3 (when some decent games come out), I don't want to have FOUR different systems sitting around my tv. The wife is pissed enough with 2 right now, and I have no clue where I'm gonna put my 360 when I get it back from my brother. The 360 has enough games that I'm content, but for games like Chronicles of Riddick and MGS2 Substance, I still need my original. I got one of the first runs of the PS3 60gb systems with full BC, but there were absolutely no games for it, and I needed the money, so I figured I'd just wait until it dropped a couple hundred and released some good games before getting it again. I had no idea that BC would start disappearing.

At least the 360 has quite a few good games . . unlike the PS3.

i've also notice that they haven't been updating lately. the other i was in cex and picked up about 10 xbox games - and they said only 2 were 360 compatible. there are tons of great xbox games that i want! when they release the new xbox expereince they should make all xbox games compatible.
