How would they know hes playing a burned copy of a game? Is that even possible? That would be a great way to scare pirates. :)DZBricktop
considering PS2 had anti piracy on it. I bought the Mod CHip, i had a few burnt games, however whenever you went to take them online, the system would do a check and read foa alterations within the system. I had the chip you could shut off, so it was fine, as i bought all the games i wanted for online.
When your system reads the disc, it looks for a "serial" sort of thing on there. when you burn it, the "serial" changes, thus the system can recognize a burnt disc, at least thats how PS did it. With the Xbox, and being online, they are able to just scan it, they see a burnt copy of something, and your shutdown.
The same way they shutdown Halo 3 players that got thier discs before release. Yes, people said it was not true, however i read the annoucement, do may the prehaloers Rest In Peace.
May i ask if your 360 if modded? if it is and you were connected to live and it detected a copied version....
Then there is your answer.
Xbox live is able to tell if your 360 is modded for some reason - one of the reasos why i didnt get mine modded.
My mate had his modded and he played a burnt game, next day he got banned :)
could it be for playing a downloaded and burned off version of the GH3 demoMr_Abandon
hahahahahha....hahahahahah maybe...???
the real question is why would you have a burned disc of a free demo when u can download it from xblm??Keving7
Unless he has Dial-Up which then he needs to upgrade to a high speed Internet connection. He might of burned the demo from the December issue of OXM.

Thats a good question.I know there was a demo of GHIII on the net you could download and burn that came out a week before the demo on the marketplace. Guess he just couldnt wait.

wow you dont have a damn clue about how technology works, do you?
First off there is a 0% chance that you got banned for playing a burned copy of the guitar hero 3 demo, the demo wasnt your problem. More than likely this is a simple glitch or mistake in the system as long as you have done nothing wrong. as you state.
Next, microsoft has no sure fire way of knowing if you are playing a burnt game or a leaglly owned game. They have made some "tricks" to detect burnt games and ban consoles however nothing has worked 100% yet. The eastiest way to check is to check the firmware hash code for alterations(ie a custom firmware is installed). Another way is to use signal mapping to determine if there is a mod chip or other device diverting past the security chip. To detect burnt games is guess work though and microsoft latest atempt proved to be somewhat succesful. They monitored/record read/write times/speeds of the dvd drives to watch for majour groupings of abnormalities. (ie not just one game but all of your games) and sent out bans to those consoles. I sincerily doubt yu have any idea what your talking about when you talk of "serial" sort of thing inculded in the disc. A disc is a solid state media that doesnt have the ability to think or change anything.
People get banned for stupid reasons all the time. Your not the first.
Yes, Microsoft sucks. Yes, they are complete idiot.
However Live is the only On-line service that's available for the xbox.
Xbox Connect doesn't count because its crap. :P

[QUOTE="Starshootr"]Probably the latter reason with the burning of the GH3 Demo. It's microsoft, they don't like anything you do unless it gets them money!BikerPunk
ding ding ding we have a winner. Burning = BAD!!!
and why is that? Ive played tons of burned CD's on my xbox. or is it just because it is a game?
Wow, making fun of people over the internet.... sooo cool.
Anyways - I would definitely call up MS and see what they said you did, if anything

MS has absolutely no way of checking for a custom firmware, this is not possible, before you lecture him on what he know's, perhaps get your stuf strait? For the 360, all bans for piracy have been based on the disc itself, pfi/dmi, security sectors, challenge/responces.

I know what you mean. I have been doing um....something (not going to say what it is in case an M$ employee is looking) that they don't want me to do (not modding or anything like cheating, but prohibited nonetheless), and I haven't ever been banned, prevented from doing it,or warned not to.
i emailed MS freaking out, and i got un banned, i realized i got banned for my motto "ThE Black Parade" i didnt mean it to be racist at allMr_Abandon
yup just what i thought,I was gonna tell you a while back that if it was your motto than it wouldve said "Code of Conduct" where your motto is supposed to be.Well i guess all those dumb people who said it was the GH3 demo sure look stupid. :D
