I need some advice on which stores have the best return policy, especially places that I could take a purchased 360 back and get my money back and not a new system. My 360 has started to die (I've gotten the 3 red lights several times now) and I want to have a 360 available to me on the 25th. I'm living in my college dorm and my 360 is registered to my permanent address back home so it's not really possible to get it sent to a repair center, since the repair box is getting sent to my house 200 miles away.

Try Best buy. mine wasnt even getting the RROD but it was acting stupid. Anyway I went to Best buy and they told me if you buy the warranty it last 2 years. Therefor if your 360 breaks just go to Best Buy and give it to the guys in the Geek Squad section. they will tell you to just pick up a brand new one off the shelf (it has to be the same type) and your good to go. Also the price went down when mine broke so when I got a new 360 They also gave me 55 dollars. Do you get that??? They gave me a free 360 and Money, that owns lol.

Errrm... Yeah, I could do that, I guess. The thing is that I really just want to use the store as a glorified rental service. It would be better (ethically) if I could buy a used one and then bring it back after like two weeks and just get cash back, but I don't know if that's realistic.

if am correct warrenty is only valid from the store where you bought the 360. you also need the reciept as proof of purchase. also try calling up MS and asking if they could ship it to to your dorm.

Lol. Are you really serious? Here in Canada, we have Best Buy and we haveanother big franchise company called Future Shop which are basically exactly the same. However, Future Shop's policy is if you send in your electronic for 2 times and its still broken, then the third time you get the same item for free even though each repair takes like a month. I think our Best Buys also have the same policy though.

I forgot to mention that their repairs also suck due to the fact that they are just some small business repair company. When my Xbox 360 broke, all they did was replace it with a new fan that made a huge loud noise.

If you can, try to buy one at costco lol. It costs a bit more because it comes with some extra stuff(game, controllers, mic) but their return policy is essentially lifetime.  They take almost everything back.  If you do return it you will get to choose money or just swap for a new one.

I don't know if I would go to Best Buy. They wouldn't replace mine for the three red lights, or when it stopped reading discs. I have had to go through Microsoft everytime because my Best Buy sucks.

Best Buy is the worst. there return policies on items range from 7 days to 30 days.

Costco you can return it within a year and get a new one. I did.

Umm....yeah, I'm pretty sure no place is going to let you do that. If you take a system back to the store, you will end up leaving with another one. They probably won't give you cash or store credit.

Are you sure they would give me money back? Because that is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for.

yea its exactly what i did, but i had to return EVERYTHING that came in the package including the game.  They offered me cash or a cashcard to the store to go and get a new one.  I shoulda taken the money and gotten myself an elite.

Wal-Mart, no question about it. I would say Costco, but you have to be a member, and it costs to be one. Unless you know someone who is a member.

But Wal-Mart is extremely liberal with their return policy. You could return it and just say you werent satisfied and they will give you your money back no problem, just keep the reciept. Half the time the employees don't even care or know anything about electronic items you're returning.

costco is best. i buy all my game machines there. i took back my broken ps2 which had the disc tray snapped off and they took that back, also i have taken back 4 360, and a ps3 and they give back store credits each time for the original price paid not how much it is when you take it back, so usually i have an extra $100 in store credit after buying the new one.

I bought my new Slim at Toys r Us, and they have an added warranty from them that you pay like $20 or something extra and you get two years protection. I could throw it at the wall smash it, and they'd still replace it. I think thats pretty sweet. They won't try to fix it.
