don't get the nyco inter cooler. when i hooked it up to my 360, I got the 3 rings.

What I do now is that I have a clip fan that's clipped on a shelf, hanging upside-down and above my TV. I have the fan pointing down at my TV and Xbox360, and it definately makes both the TV and 360 about 15 degrees cooler. Plus, it only cost $10.

yeah.. like someone said, don't play it 15 hours straight like the rest of the 'tards. I've never had it on more than 8 hours.

I have had my 360 since Christmas, with the NYKO cooling fan and I have had no problems. Honestly I can't say that thats because of the fan but I'm going to keep using it anyway. As far as playing "too" much, that really depends on the individual system. Some overheat after only a few hours. When the Halo 3 beta ended, if you stayed on-line, playing the game, you could squeeze a few more days out of it by leaving your system on. I got 2 whole days of extended beta play. I turned it off for fear of overheating though. One guy I know kept his system on for FOUR days after the beta's end date! He just played and played until the beta was literally pulled. So really, everyone's system reacts differently to different variables.

Just keep the system in an area where it will not overheat. i.e. Do not set it on any carpeted surface, do not cover it with anything, do not store it in an entertainment center in one of those shallow shelves. You will have no problem what so ever especially since you just got it a couple weeks ago. Most likely you purchased a newer system anyways (obviously not one from the very first batch).

I have an entertainment stand thingy in my room which currently houses my XBox.... it is soon (Friday!) to be replaced with the 360... looking at the picture, do you think my XBox 360 will explode? Cheers.

Yeah nothing happens to mine. As long as your 360 is in a cool environment you should be fine and if your 360 freezes often it could be the mighty power brick thats over heating not your 360.

no fan for me. launch 360. ultra ultra ultra lite internet means 10 + hour on large demo downloads. I know that downloads arent as stressfull on the 360 than playing games, but it still great to see the durability. Hell, in GRAW dont you need to stay online for 8 hrs straight or something to get an achievement? PS currently on a much better 3 month trial internet! Downloads came from 10+ hrs to 20 minutes!

If you stand it up it covers the huge fan on the bottom, keeping it horizontal may help

i play my 360 for 12+ hours at times, just keep it in a cooled environment. Get an air conditioner to cool down your room or where ever. Also keep it in an open space, kind of hypocrital for me to say since i have it in a shelf type thing, but it's never acted up before.

this reminds me that i need a new TV stand.
