[QUOTE="chandlerr_360"]I am one of the few people who were not that impressedby the game...by no means do I think that it will flop or sell bad, I just did not care for it that much. Old boreing gameplay, tacky Plasmid powers, and dumb plot. However I cannot deny that the atmosphere, mood, and setting of the game is absolutely astounding and fresh. Overall I would give the demo a 6/10.sk8ter33157
Wow. Just wow. I could'nt let this slide without responding to it.
Old boring gameplay? Are you kidding me? Yes it is first person shooter but besides that its not "old" or "boring." How many other games can you hack terminals, fight bosses (Big Daddies) anywhere in the game world, interact with neaarly everything in the world, harvest little girls, customize your weapons with tons of different ammo? And how is it boring? It is some of the most intense gameplay on the 360. Splicers jump around and come from nowwhere and lurk in the shadows. the gunshots are all really impactful and brutal
Tacky plasmid powers? I dont understand how they are tacky. Insulting the plasmids are like insulting spells in an RPG. They make the game. And where else can you summon bees from your hands or create a tornado trap
Dumb plot. Lmao. An underwater utopia ruled by a geneticly enhanced dictator with the society eventually being destoryed due to the rampant addiction to ADAM. How the hell is that dumb. It has never been done before and is being praised. Utopia is a very strong theme in novels, movies and literature and hasnt really been done in a game before.
Hack terminals? If by terminals you mean the little robot hacking mini game, that is the extremely frustrating...nobody will even do that, they will just buyout...plain stupid. Fight bosses? Ummmmm, Gears of War, Halo 2 , Perfect Dark...there is many shooters out there where you can fight bosses. Interaction? Grabbing potato chips and cigs off of chairs is hardly worth even noting at all. Harvest little girls (LOL!!!)...also, you can customize ammo, which just sounds and will probably be dumb.
While the "gameplay" might be intense, I did not find the combat to be intense at all.Towards the end of the demo when there were more enemies attacking you at once, I found myself hitting the B button way too much and...There is a reason that shooters do not use health bars anymore.
It is hard not to admit that the plasmid powers feel tacky and overpowered...which is unfortunately probably not what the develeopers wanted them to feel like. Plus, having to watch your character stick a colored needle into his wrist over, and over, and over again is agonizing and repetitive...they could have left the animation out so it performed like the Med kit.
And finally, by plot, it did not mean a underwater city...if you would have read more carefully you would of seen that I said the "setting (underwater city)" was cool. So far, the plot that we saw in the demo was, "You are a guy who happened to stumble upon a light tower, which leads to a city underwater, which happens to be completely FUBAR, and some random person on a radio wants you to find his family..." I don't blame myself for NOT wanting to find out what happens next.

I guess this is one of those "Suspend your disbelief" type games. Don't try to rationalize it. Just let yourself get immersed by it. Not everything needs to be grounded in reality.
[QUOTE="g-rash"]I'm just going to say I didn't move for the first minute of the game because I thought it was still a cutscene.brodudemanexact same thing happened to me
Me three,lol
even though it is not my most anticipated release of 2007, it has the greatest potential to be goty of all the games i seen
GOTY-Bioshock
Runner up-halo 3

in a way i agree. Why is it that a plane just happens to crash right next to the entrance to the Rapture? And then listening to a random person on a radio, doing what he says and then injecting yourself with random fluids. Even if the setting is sci-fi and has sci-fi enemies...they should elaborate more on the main character to make the overall settings and actions more believeable. I would give the overall demo a 8.5/10....visuals aren't the only thing i was looking for, but still quite enjoyable.
I'm just going to say I didn't move for the first minute of the game because I thought it was still a cutscene.g-rashLol i know and on a side note it ran at a silky smooth 30 fps

Must be another Halo fan. I mean who can compete w/ the writers at Bungie. Aliens seeking to destroy Earth. Get over it. Bioshock will own...and nothing any anti-fan boy says isnt going to stop it.
Ppl who want the game know why...and the ppl who dont want it...just dont know....

[QUOTE="VetteMan85"]The game is great but the only way it would even win FPS of the year is if by some slim chance, Crysis's game-play is horrible.loumart08
Not FPS of the year, flat out game of the year
If it were to win GOTY, by default it would also have to win FPS of the year. It wouldn't make sense otherwise. I was saying that I don't see it even winning FPS of the year even though it seem pretty amazing. Not sure about GOTY or any of that. I'm expecting it to be an awesome game in the vein of System Shock 2 and Deus Ex. I've seen gameplay videos before, but they didn't quite prepare me for how awesome the atmosphere in the game actually ended up being. It's quite beautiful, too.
Deus Ex and SS2 happen to be my all time favorites. Unlike IW, this game looks like it's going to be great.
As a gamer since I was 5yrs old, and now 24, the opening and overall demo of Bioshock is one of the most amazing moments of gaming that I can recall. Is that enough hype for you?'
Can that same intensity and atmosphere be held for the whole game is the question. I can't wait to find out. But with Metroid 3 shipping only a week later, I think there's a chance the next two weeks will be a significant time in the history of FPS genre.
Even more hyperbole, but I can't help myself, it was that WOW! (and I'm on a 32 inch SD television).
