Some nerd that works at Gamestop told me Bioshock got a 10 from Gameinformer. I looked it up online and found a few things that might confirm it, just some loose talk on forums. I have yet to see the new magazine, but I dont think the guy was trying to lie. GOW and Oblivion only got 9.5s from GI, and bioshock would join LOZWW, LOZTP, god of war, gta VC and san andreas, RE4, halo 2, and some others as the only 10 rated games.

The september issue of Game Informer isn't even out yet, so there is no way that "nerd" could know. I work at Gamestop also, and I get a subscription of Game Informer. Trust me, he made it up.

Maybe but considering the scores it has gotten so far it's certainly possible.

Agreed. Also, does GameInformer have good reviews? Do they give out high scores easily? or is a 9.5 to 10 a rare occasion?

Judging by their past reviews...it looks like a 10 on GameInformer = a 9ish on Gamespot.

We were talking about gameinformer. And GI has only given a 10 to 12 games I believe. I remembered some more. Metroid fusion, metal gear solid 2, tony hawks pro skater 2, ratchet and clank up your arsenal.

I've only played the demo, but from the looks of it, there's great potential for it being a 10...

i don't believe in 10's...maybe 9.9...but even if that...Bioshock offers no multi-player so it can't be 10/10 unless they reviewed it as just a 1-player title. Either way it's a nice looking game, so i'm not worried about a score. Scores are useless if you already like the game.

see this logic makes no sense. why detract from a game because it doesn't have MP? If it is a kick ass single player game, it deserves as much credit as an above avergae game with great multi that puts it over the top.

I predict when it comes out its average score (using a scale of 1-10) will be a 9.5 or 9.6.

Just being realistic. It's gonna be great though.

Did Oblivion have multiplayer? Did FF7 have multiplayer? Did LOZ:OOT have multiplayer? How about Metal Gear Solid 1-2? Games don't need multiplayer to be excellent.

But that's the thing, why shouldn't they review it as a 1-player game? If it was never said to have multiplayer and always touted as a single player game, people are likely to buy it for its single player, so there's no reason to tell people not to buy it because there is no multiplayer. They already know that, all they wanna know is if the single player is as good as it sounds and in that case, Bioshock is sure to get plenty of 10s judging from the demo.

After playing the demo I wouldn't be too surprised. I definitely see it getting 9-10's. If its as exspanisive and in-depth as I've heard that it is, it should be great. Customizable weapons and close to seventy different plasmids and gene-tonics sounds like alot to play around with. Just another week and we'll all be able to find out!!!!

I am not saying those are not good games, but it clear that none of those deserved tens. Bioshock will be good but I will wait till other reviews and to play the game to see if it is a ten.

well i wouldnt doubt it, true or not, given how GI gives 10s i think its possible bioshock gets a 10, and given bioshocks other reviews it makes it even more beliveble, and the reaction it got from its demo was really good

though it wont be a 10 on GS, there have been such great games out latley and none of them were 10, i really doubt GS will ever give a 10 to bioshock, im guessing a 9.6 at best

but whatever the score is, im gonna get this game, be it 10 or 2 i really dont care, i will buy bioshock! XD

Why does a game HAVE to have MP to be perfect? That makes no sense. I'm tired of the notion that a game, especially FPS, has to have MP standard. Far too many games have had their singple player campaign fall short in favor of multiplayer (and usually even that is not that good). I'd much rather see a developer focus on what they set out to accomplish, rather than have resources wasted on either a tacked on MP or lame SP component. The goal for Bioshock from day one was to develop a new SP FPS that evolves the genre and devlivers a cinematic, lush and highly realized world that tells a great story and above all sucks the player in for the ride of their life. Why would you penalize a game that does just that, simply because it is "missing" a game play component it never intended to have?

Dont be so sure GS wont give it a 10.They dont give 9.6s anymore. Only .5s. I think itll get a 9.5 or 10 from GS.

its actually closer to a 9.6+ which i think should really be a ten on gamespot usually.

people think it should have MP because it is a FPS, I don't think so, condemned didn't have MP and it was a good game, but I played the demo of this game, and it is great, I am still on the fence about buying it though. Basicly cause I am broke right now but I will rent it for sure, but as far as the reviews go I think gamespot gives the best reviews, they seem to be the less fanboy type people, and they always seem level headed as far as reviews go, for example look at the madden reviews everyone else gave it a 9, and gamespot gave it a 8.5. I agree with that score more, madden 08 does not deserve a 9.

The only evidence that Bioshock "may" have gotten a 10 at GI is on their website where you can look at the Sept. cover where it says "Bioshock reviewed. A perfect 10?" Even if it didn't get a 10 its sure to get at least a 9.5. I trust Gameinformers reviews than I do Gamespots. For the record, they'll likely post their review online any day now so keep checking people. I also just finished the demo on medium and its going to be an outstanding game and I'll try the hard later tonight. Those complaining about multi-player should shut their pie-holes and stay in the Halo forums.

Gameinformer reviews don't mean jack squat anyways. There reviews read like they were written by a 10 year old fanboy sitting on the toilet...IGN, Gamespot, OXM, and maybe even 1up...they are the only ones worth watching for.

IGN is good too. But gamespot gives horrible scores. zelda an 8.8, perfect dark a 9? wow, and that was under their old system. And OXM will never be credible again after their 10/10 score for fight night 3.

Well if that was the case then you shouldn't take away from the game if the MP is bad, to me it can't be both ways and since this has happened already it should happen to Bioshock. MP is in just about every FPS now so I think it is no longer a feature and should be in every next gen game besides RPGs.

If a multiplayer mode is just "thrown in" then it actually degrades the overall greatness of a game. An FPS can have NO multi-player and it can still be a great game. If I'm going to buy a game, I'm gonna buy for it's defining qualities (Bioshock is going to have a BREATH TAKING story mode) not for some "thrown in" qualities... Multi player mode doesn't make a game UNLESS that's what it's strong point is going to be. (Call of Duty, Soldier of Fortune, Counter Strike) But if you're gonna buy something like Bioshock, or Half Life, buy it for the story, not the multi player (If Half Live even has Multi Player...)

I think the reason GOW didn't get 10/10 is because the campaign was pretty short, but I have no clue why Oblivion didn't get 10/10... I've played that game for over 200 hours... (No Life) But, if you have played the demo for BioShock, it is a pretty amazing game, so I wouldn't be suprised at all if it got a 10/10.

[QUOTE="gokuofheaven"]i don't believe in 10's...maybe 9.9...but even if that...Bioshock offers no multi-player so it can't be 10/10 unless they reviewed it as just a 1-player title. Either way it's a nice looking game, so i'm not worried about a score. Scores are useless if you already like the game.Cold84

Well if that was the case then you shouldn't take away from the game if the MP is bad, to me it can't be both ways and since this has happened already it should happen to Bioshock. MP is in just about every FPS now so I think it is no longer a feature and should be in every next gen game besides RPGs.

So a game isn't next gen if it don't have a MP mode? LMAO.

see this logic makes no sense. why detract from a game because it doesn't have MP? If it is a kick ass single player game, it deserves as much credit as an above avergae game with great multi that puts it over the top.

part of a games quality is having the ability to continue to bring the user back and continue playing, with online being the main factor in this part of a game

i guess everyone mis-understood. I was trying to say that it doesn't need multi-player to get a high score but because so many games are reviewed with having a "standard multi-player mode for a FPS game" ...it might effect the score. In the end the score shouldn't matter, period.
