I read that some people put a fan near the 360, to blow hot air coming out of the 360 away. Does that really help or does it do more harm than good? I live in Michigan so weather gets crazy. 2 days ago it was almost 90, not it droped to 73. So I'm really carefuly about playing my 360 in my room which can get to 85 degrees.

i dont think that helps the 360 dosent need heat away from the outside of the 360 it needs heat away from the inside unless you can put that fan inside the 360 case that wont help

i live in saudi arabia and the heat gets up to 47C donno about how much F. anyway i personally put a frozed bottle of water right against the venetlation holes that sucks air, and i put the bottle on a towel so when it gets humidity the water gets at the towel, and its doing a lot of good job keeping my xbox360 cool.

EDIT: its 116 F, but im running AC for sure

wow 116 F i would die but yeah the vents on the back dont suk in air they blow heat out. and once again i dont know if that would help either the solution to the 36s heat problem has to be internal

This isn't rocket science. Ambiant temperature will affect the internal temp.

Example: If I close the door to my game room, keep the window shut and the fan off, the room actually gets warmer from playing my 360. The 360 is pulling the air in the room into the console and heating it up while forcing it out the back. This will noticably heat my room up. In the winter this is not such a bad thing. It's a heater and a game console in one.

So if the room temp is cooler the internal temp would also be cooler. Now that it's a little warmer I keep the door and window open allowing the AC the flow through the room. My fan is set on the lowest speed to keep the noise down and pointed directly at my consoles helping to keep thm cool.

By the way that frozen water bottle idea isn't half bad. I may have to try that once summer really heats up.

Good, b/c i am moving to FL (CENTRAL AC), so the room will always be cool. also, isn't it bad to point a fan at the 360 b/c u COULD POSSIBLY be blowing dust into it??

Electronic devices attract alot of dust no matter what. I supposea fancould blow some dustin there, but I don't know if it would be any more or less than normal. Houses are filled with dust.

plus it would be hard for 360's breathe in cool air with the fan blowing towards it, no? Idunno about you but when a big wind goes by me it gets a bit harder to take in air.

I put a freezer pack wraped in towl and put it 5 CM away from the back of the 360s. Not sure if it worked.

Are you kidding??

The 360 is not a human being. Also a small fan doesn't quite have the power that a gust of wind has.

The 360 blows air out of the back, it sucks it in on the other two vents. You may want to move your freezer pack closer to one of the other vents.

Wow, those temps sound great. The temp in Memphis, TN has been 90's since mid-May. We think it's really cooled off if we get anything in the 80's. Point being, I don't use a fan and my 360 and it works fine. If you have a/c, it really shouldn't matter when the outside temp changes.

AC in my room isnt too great. When i have AC on, the living room is usually at 75 or less, but up in my room, it will be around 80.

Also seems like putting your 360 upright helps it ventilate more easily.

I got a fan blowing straight up behind the exhaust holes, sending hot air towards the ceiling. This also keeps the cooler air near the bottom of the 360's intake holes. I won't play without this fan on for I'm scared to see red lights...again.

i keep my windows open and my fan blowing during the summer season. When the AC is on i'll close the window and still leave the fan on and my room door open. It helps a lot.

See I want to have my ac on when im playing my 360 and all but I think it may blowa circuit. I would have my ac on, 360, surround sound, and my tv. The tv, 360, and surround sound are plugged into a different outlet but still in the game room. So idk what do you think?

I live in Phoenix and it's been over 112F for 2 weeks. My room is really cold because the ac is running pretty much non stop, so that helps. Mine is really well ventalated. I don't think your in any trouble.

The 360's design model was originally made for small bathrooms...

because everyone likes a warm bathroom after a shower....

They help bring the internal temp down a few degree, but nothing signifigant to make a difference.

I think it works pretty well. I have a 4 inch fan that I bought from target and I use it to blow hot air away from the system.I can deinitely feel the hot air coming out. a small external fan kind of does the samething the intercooler does except it has its own power source. It doesn't drain the 360s, which is great. The back fans of the 360 only run with 5 volts of power. The main problem that 360s get is the GPU causing motherboard problems because of the lack of heat that is blown away from the GPU. These external fans can actually help the process of blowing out hotter air being produced.

Is it just me or does the 360's back cool differently. It seems like the right side is always hotter than the left.
