Actually, most people won't have the game until Wednesday since it doesn't ship until tomorrow. And doesn't an "official" Blue Dragon thread belong in the Blue Dragon forum???
Glad you're enjoying it though, I'm looking forward to digging into it on Wednesday.
Unfortunately for me my 360 is on vacation hopefully at the repair center...been looking forward to this game only to not be able to play it yet..hopefully i get back soon.....

same, sadly.
Blue D
Im having alot of fun with two worlds right now, its alot like diablo. Blue dragon is for children so I will not pick it up.LTZH
Blue Dragon is not for children, thats like saying dragonball is for children, despite the contant sex jokes, nudity etc, but because its a cartoon its obviously for children right?.. jeez you shouldn't judge something like an RPG on its appearance.. as for two world more like broken worlds.. lol, what a dissapointing game!
Blue Dragon got released in Australia early due to someone breaking the release date here so I got it yesterday.. But as said im solely surprised by it, the voice acting makes you not dislike the characters, the world is nice and the gamplay solid.. As ive always said I love the general JRPG fighting so long as there are no random battles and thankgod for this gen as there will hopefully never be any ever again lol.
But the thing I did notice is the game is very cinematic as in cutscenes and in game play flow together very well, even at the very begining of the game you think its an intro movie with the credits but your actually playing.. but yeah works very very wel and has some awesome music etc. l, top marks to Sakagutchi and Uematsu as it was a plesant surprise! Those two go well together and I really look forward to Lost Odyssey and Cry On.
As much as Mass Effect is my most anticipated game and I thought no RPG untill then could keep me satisfied I was wrong, Blue Dragon is definately worth all your times =)
Well you have different battling and you approach enemies in real time before fighting them, but im not sure what new things you might be refering to in an JRPG?.. I havn't got far enough into it to know all the new things it has but theres more interaction between you and the realtime world, enemies walk around in real time, obviously the battle system and how it works will vary, no random battles.. Ummn And the seamless cinematic feel between gameplay and video is awesome.. but as said im not far enough in to know what else?.. Generally for me I take JRPG's as they are allthough FF:XII was different which was good.. I more so look for changes and new things in WRPG's..
I think your more so getting into action RPG's which do not have anything to do with the original recipe..
Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are still more so leaning more towards the old school style fighting but refining it, making it more enjoyable and less annoying and bring alot more story and character development etc. etc. into it.. Making very cinematic feel yet having you at the helm and not at any point feeling you are not in control if you get what i mean..
Yes true the battle system is a refined old school engine but there are no random battles and they have refined and made the rest of the game alot more.. interactive?.. I dunno how to describe it other than I enjoy it.. I just really like the way they have done it.. If unsure rent or borrow it and then play the beginning and you will see what I mean about the story and cinematic focus =)
I will give most RPG's a go, Im not fussy wither there japanese or western allthough my all time favourites are JRPG's but as said most anticipated is Mass Effect as ive read the prequel and its looking great but still JRPG's have something the western world cannot offer and regardless what they do with the gameplay so long as they can make the old things which seem annoying now gen not so painfull im down for it.. I still stand by saying Blue Dragon hit me by surprise and I am totally impressed by it and what it has to offer, it just had such a bad demo choice which was a horrible mistake.
Definately Rent and try if not for JRPG fans its a must buy, Its Sakagutchi dudes, the Father of Final Fantasy.. =)
Blue Dragon is awesome, you have alot to look forward to ;) I have had it since the release day in Japan and it is the reason I bought a 360 (had originally planned to buy the pack but ended up not wanting to wait that long and bought it in September 06 instead and being Japan, it was still a launch system, hahahah!)
As for Lost Odyssey, there is another incredible game to look forward to. I was playing my demo of that game again a few days ago and I cannot wait till it is released! I hope it lives up to my expectations the demo originally gave me back in Novmber last year. LO is what I think Final Fantasy may have become if Sakaguchi hadn't left Square and they hadn't had to put those annoying little girly boy characters in every game. With it's military backstory, it also reminds me very much of FFVI which is of course the best FF game ever so that is a very good thing.
I am also about 10 hours into Trusty Bell at the present time and I am loving it. I have never seen a more gorgeous looking RPG ever. I can only hope the next Tales game from Namco uses a similar engine.
But back to Blue Dragon, I don't know what the morons at EGM were smoking when they gave it a bad review. They don't know what they are talking about. Maybe they couldn't handle the fact that there are no boring FPS play mechanics in the game and gave up after 2 minutes.
It is still hard for me to believe that the best RPGs from Dec 06 to Dec 07 are on the 360, the PS3 has nothing to compare to these 3 games, until Shirokishi Monogatari comes out of course ;) But who knows when that will be. I am just looking forward to December which is when I predict LO will be released :D
Thanks guys, I was looking forward to this game for a long time and then I started hearing mixed oppinions on it (mostly after the demos releaase) and started to worry a little bit but still had hopes. I was beginning to wonder if maybe I had grown out of the jrpg type games but recently I played ff3 on the ds and relised I still love the game, and you dont know how relieved I was to hear that there are not random battles in this game, they were great at one point (in the 90's) but now its next gen and I am glad they are gone. After reading your guys view on the game you just helped me make up my mind to get the game.

i was so pumped for playing this game on launch but i just got the red lights today, am sending it off for repairs tomorrow so i won't be playing blue dragon for a long time unfortunatly, maybe not even halo 3 on launch which will be even more depressing1!!!
I smell a fanboy what makes this official DELETE THIS THREAD ITS STUPIDXxXxGibboxXxX
Then why post in it dipsh!t?
Just a note to the people looking forward to Lost Odyssey, it has random battles.austin_is_god
Grrrrr....I guess I'll live....
I thought Lost Odyssey was similar to Blue Dragon where that you will see them on the map but once you encounnter them it takes you into the fight?.. From what ive seen in LO so far thats what I gathered?..
Urrgg random battles are horrible, Blue Dragon is good with what they've done!
judas-savior
I don't think the random battles are that bad though. In the demo, they are not "every 2 steps" encounters from FF games (including FFIII, grrrr!) and if you add up the amount of enemies on a map in Blue Dragon, I don't think it will be very different. This is about the only 360 game I will be buying in the next 4 months with the possible exception of Beautiful Katamari, I look forweard to seeing ALOT of the game at TGS along with a solid release date.

Correct. I don't have mine 'til tomorrow. But Bioshock is keeping me busy.
I think I'm just going to pass on it. It looks like just another JRPG to me despite the talent working on it, and I've got stuff like school, a job, and tons of homework to do now. I'll check out the reviews, though.Trickshot771
go to metacritic.com, there are already over 20 reviews. They range from 9.5 - 5.0 with the weighted average being 8.0. Famitsu also gave it a very good review.

It doesn't mean it has to consume your life, lol.
Game Informer gave it a 9.0 and gamepro gave it 9.5 :). When you read the negative reviews, they say stupid things like Blue Dragon is microsofts answer to Final Fantasy, that Final Fantasy XII was innovative, that the vocalist from Deep Purple is annoying, or that he presentation is lacking. LOL, Lost Odyssey is an answer to Final Fantasy while Blue Dragon was an answer to Dragon Quest. Anyone with half a brain should know this (Im looking at you Hillary Goldstein).kevy619
LOL, nicely said.. and well considering they are made by the FF creator and have some of the staff members who are working on the new FF games anyways like Uematsu.. I don't really care .. leu Dragon is great and the new FF's etc. wil be awesome..competion sure, but I own both consoles and will have all the good RPG's regardless lol.. muhahaha
