Wow, Im ashamed at the review Gamespot gave Blue Dragon, Now let me tell you about this game, Blue Dragon is an JRPG, and one created by the best JRPGs in the industry, heck, if you dont like any of the Final Fantasy games then stay away from this one, cuz guess what, to me this is where FF9 left off, where Sakaguchi left Sqaure to start Mystwalker. Blue Dragon to me is a good reminder why I love games, cuz its fun easy and Im a vet when it comes to Jrpgs, im only 16 hours into the game and already Iv been impressed, and the story has not even started. The combat is like what you would expect from a turn based game, and now it has a twist outside of combat, that u dont instantly fight battles but you see your enemy infront of you, if you want to fight go jump him, if not then dodge him, you can also fight different monsters together to cause them to fight eachother, and trust me it helps cuz they just might take some off the plate for you. The characters are bright, good voice acting. To me Blue Dragon bring me back to the day where I would come home from school, pop in one of the three FF games I had for ps, and play a fantastic game. I feel sorry for the very talented people who build the game to have someone who in my eyes does not know what a good Rpg is, I think that the industry is getting TOO serious, Like come on think about it.......its a game, and a damn good one!
I'm not sure. I think a lot of people are looking for a really goodJapanese RPGsthat can compete with other games outside the genrebesides for Final Fantasy. Blue Dragon appeals to a lot of people who enjoy RPGs; almost hardcore fanatics. And that's ok. Today a lot of JRPGs will/have become hidden gems and cult-classic rather then a must-have game for a gamer.
I agree, this review focused way too much on the negative. I mean if the game was unplayble, glitchy maybe a 6.0 is deserved but this game is very playable(and for people who have finished the first disk wasn't the ending of that disk just really cool?). I will agree the story/characters are generic but its not that bad to deduct 2+points.
Also there is seeming to be a double standard here what exactly makes Two Worlds deserving of a 7.0? it has some serious flaws to and IMo they are much more serious than blue dragon's.
I hope reviewers on this site will review the game as it is not for how they want it to be.
