they made thousands of different peices for the guns, different handles, magasines, etc, and then with a program they combine them all to make literally hundreds of thousands of unique guns, with differemt stats yes. but you will almost never find 2 guns that look alike. they didnt make each gun, they used a computer program to do it.

There isn't a set number of guns... They built an AI system that builds the guns for them, so there are guns that even the developers haven't seen... And each gun will have different attributes because the AI uses individual manufacturers throughout the game world that specialize in certain areas and have their own styles, the game is heavily focused on looting and is literally making guns on a constant basis... Last time I had seen the number was up to 650,000 but that was a few weeks after a 500,000 set mark so a million wouldn't surprise me at this point

As far as armor, all that's been confirmed so far is certain types of shields as well as color customization for your characters armor, however the developers do keep talking about a diverse amount of items and customization, so I am sure pieces of armor will be talked about later, and seeing as all guns have certain types of damage (i.e. electrical, acid, fire, etc.) I'm assuming they will be using armors that have certain resistances to certain effects... This is easily my most anticipated game

The guns will be awesome but the thing I was wondering about was the armor and if it actually looked different or it looked the same but had different abilities...weslicon

So far the changing the color is the only thing they've let slip... But they do talk about weapons and items in looting... So there's only so many possibilities... Also I watched an interview with Randy Pitchford of Gearbox and he talked about how with such a heavy emphasis on 4 player online co-op and only 4 different characters they are definitely looking at ways to make each character unique looking so that it doesn't feel repetitive in the people you come across... If that doesn't hint at customized armor I don't know what does... You should check out the forums on www.borderlandsthegame.com for some of this info... There isn't an overwhelming abundance of info but definitely some conversations heavily focused on all these types of questions

stop nit-picking at the exact ammount, this game is going to be AMAZING (i hope!) and its gonna be hugely customizable.

This is my most anticipated game for 09, I hope they come through with a great game, it sounds great. Gearbox previous BIA games were good, BIAHH scored an 8.5 here.

They haven't mentioned much about armor. It'll probably be like Halo where you find different shield upgrades.

I think the leveling is supposed to use skill trees so your character should have a more unique build as you level.

eh they actually did say it in the gamespot E3 video. i dont feel like posting the link nor looking at twitches link above but look it up if you dont wann take are words lol.

but my guess is they will just have minor minor teaks to each weapon cause no way there programing over a million weapons in the game
